Teena -- so sorry I missed you while we were at the BC. I hope your cruise was wonderful (just returned home and haven't had the chance to read back a few pages yet). We loved the BC, we loved the lounge, the staff, etc. And you were really right about the lounge offerings -- they were great and we were very pleased with them. Thanks for all your help in planning our trip!:goodvibes

TeenaS: I hate to bother you but I was wondering if you can give us any tips for being at the BC with 3 kiddos (7, 5, and 2 - turning 3 while there). I am absolutely dying to get down there - this is a surprise trip for the kids and I've kept the secret now for 1 year! We are staying at Beach Club for 2 nights, largely to try out a new resort and to do Stormalong Bay, before moving over the Poly. Anything we shouldn't miss while staying there? Thanks!

Almost all of the BC CL Standard rooms have full balconies. If you see water, it's a waterview. If you book a standard room CL, you have a 50/50 chance of getting a pretty ugly view (roof). Ask yourself though, is spending that extra money for a waterview worth it? Will you really be spending lots of time out on the balcony or when you are in the room are you most likely just sleeping or showering or changing clothes. Only you can make that decision.

A request is just that ... it's a request. Nothing is guaranteed. If you definitely want a full balcony, then make your request "full balcony please" on your reservation. However, if you are booking CL standard view, you might not really care about that full balcony. Doubt they are going to sit out there and look at a roof. Requesting a nice view if you book a standard view ... well, everybody wants a nice view and there just aren't that many ... hence why it's a standard view. Depending on how full we are, chances are if you book standard view rooms, you are probably going to get a view you really aren't thrilled about. There are a few that are pretty but those are the courtyard views and there just aren't many of them.

If you book a water view, definitely make your request "full balcony please". That should take care of it. I hate to give people false hope. I'd rather you be pleasantly surprised. If I told you you had a good chance of getting a garden view when you book the standard view, I'd be lying. There are a few, but not that many. Personally, I could care less what the view is and I don't care about the balcony since I'm only in the room long enough to sleep, shower and change clothes. But plenty of people spend lots of time on their balcony, having coffee or wine and looking out at the lake. If your parents are like that, then you should definitely book them a waterview!!

I have a BC LVCL room booked (need to update that ticker still to reflect my resort change) -does that mean it likely has a fully balcony? That would be great!

I'm sorry I missed you too but I'm glad you were pleased with everything!!! Maybe we'll get to meet up your next trip!!

Spend lots of time at the pool and the older kids will love some of the activities. Make sure you get the recreation guide when you check-in! Beware though, once the kids experience SAB, you might have trouble getting them to move over to the Poly. If that's the case, just come see me (if I'm there) or one of the managers in the lobby and if we have room, we can probably keep you at the BC. We have kids crying as they are leaving every day!

Yep, you should be fine and the view should be great. If you should get one of the rooms without a full balcony (I think there are only two), then just tell them at check-in you want to switch rooms. Since you have a waterview room booked, you should request on your reservation "full balcony please".

Thanks, I hadn't thought of them not wanting to switch. Great to know we may have options if we need to change things.

I should be there when you get there unless I'm on break -- if I'm not there greeting you when you walk in the door, just ask the curbside greeter to come get me from break ... I just sit in the back office. I caught a lousy cold or flu on the airplane I think coming home from the cruise. Went to the doctor's today and hopefully the antibiotics will kick in tomorrow and I'll feel better. I just started running a fever too. I hate flying because of the germs!

You sound like me and flying... It never fails I get sick, usually once I am home. It makes me think of footage I have seen of Howie Mandel on flights with a mask on. I think he catches a lot of flack for his germ phobia but he may be onto something with that one ;) Try to get lots of rest and hope you feel better soon!

I've been scouring the pages, but can you tell me about what page the YC Regatta Club info is on? The threads are just so long. Just wondering what to expect for food offerings and if there are any pictures. We changed somewhat our reservations again and are staying one night at the YC garden view club before we go on to CR. Any info (or page number) appreciated. :thumbsup2

Teena, I hope you feel better today. Get lots of rest before you leave to help your daughter. :laundy:

Sorry to hear about your cold. Everytime i fly i manage to get sick:sick: I hope you feel better and see you tomorrow:banana:

We are currently booked at the Yacht Club for 8/29-9/6. We've stayed at the Beach Club before and thoroughly enjoyed it and thought we would give the Yacht Club a try. It seems (after reading thru many threads) that the Beach Club is the more popular side (Teena - I know you call the Yacht Club "the dark side" :lmao:). I guess I'm just trying to see if I should try to change it to the Beach Club? I have a standard view room booked - would I have a better chance of getting a nicer view at the Yacht Club (since more people stay at the Beach Club)? :confused3

HI! We have stayed at both the Beach Club and the Yacht Club- they are both beautiful, upscale, deluxe resorts! The Yacht Club is decorated with darker woods in the lobby therefore making it seem to be "darker" but the rooms are bright, cheery and just as large as the Beach Club. From what I have been told, the YC rooms all have full balconies, as all BC rooms don't have full balconies - some have small stand only balconies. Either way, I think they are both wonderul and the pool is one of the best parts!! Enjoy your trip!!

:)

ReneeDisney says it the way it is. If you are booked into either the YC or BC in a standard view, you have an equal chance of getting a yucky view. However, at the YC you will get a full balcony for sure. If a view is really really really important, my advice is to switch to a waterview.

Does anyone have any info on the YC refurb? I tried looking thru the thread but did not see any photos or completion dates. Thanks!:goodvibes

I know what you mean about the BC being more popular. We have not stayed at either resort. We are staying YC in less than 2 weeks. I was disheartened by the "pro-BC slant" when reading this thread. But I've decided that the YC is probably equally lovely and I'm going to enjoy our stay. I wouldn't change if I were you.

And I'm sure everyone has their favorite resort. When we have visited the BC on previous trips we found the lobby to be too chaotic for our tastes. Different strokes...

Have a great time!

YC refurb due to be done 10/31. I agree though stay put at YC. I too bounced between BC and YC and don't feel the atmosphere at BC is "me". But I too get swayed but so many BC slanted posts but the YC's are out there just not as many posts! I am anxious for my December stay at YC CL. Can't wait!!!!

During prior WDW stays, we've never visited the YC/BC so I have no concept on the layout, size, etc. except for the maps and pictures seen here and on other sites.

Looking at the maps, it looks as though the parking lot might be a hike. We would probably drive to AK from the resort and there are a few off site restaurants that we like to visit. I didn't know if it would be an inconvenience to walk to the parking lot and if the YC or BC might be closer than the other.

It's the same resort. Same managers, same cast members, same amenities. Only difference is the decor. I prefer light colors. You are absolutely correct, the BC lobby is much more chaotic ... that's why I like it since when I work in the YC lobby I'm bored to tears.

The parking lots are a bit of a hike away at both resorts but nothing like the parking lot distance from the resort like the GF. However, if you are staying at the BCV, their parking lot is close.

By a hike, I mean you have to cross over the bridges.
