I am a little shocked at Colton but he was going in the next couple weeks even if he didn't go home tonight.

Amy no shock...

Leif Garrett I feel bad for he is so young. I loved that he auditioned while on vacation, he is so new to everything.

Joanne kind of like Colton didn't think it would be the first week.

They pretape those shows for some reason. You notice it will say it's live when it's live and it didn't Tuesday or Wednesday just watch next week.

I was surprised that Colton went home....I kinda liked him, Garrett too. I thought that Chikezie would be going home.

If they filtered out all the people that voted for Chekize on the basis of his name only, Colton wouldn't be holding back tears...

Haha, I did think his name was kinda cool when I first heard it.

I definitely think they got the girls right tonight. Those were my 2 picks to go home.

As for the guys, Garret I could agree with but not Colton. I didn't think he would make top 12 but I think he deserved another week or two. Chikezie definitely should have gone home. He was not very good but his attitude toward Simon made me really not like him. And I know a lot of girls like him, but I thought Luke should have gone home too.

I also thought it was mean that Simon basically told him that he shouldn't think of singing as a career because he wasn't good enough...then why'd he let him through in the first place?!

hear, hear!! ::yes::
all the articles i've read about Colton quote him as expressing a huge interest in musical theater and Broadway. I am sure he will do well. That road has worked out for lots of AI alums. Anwar Robinson is in Rent right now, and Clay Aiken is in Spamalot. Last year the touring company of Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat came through Philly and the posters all said "Starring American Idol Contestant Amy Adams" - she came in 10th in season 1, I think.

Then I hope that he proves Simon wrong and goes into Broadway.

My DVR didn't work!!!!! I missed AI and Survivor. :sad2:

Who got voted off of AI?????

Amy- Knew it
Garrett- Knew it
Joanne- Sad, but she didn't have a great performance. Very strange song, weird rhythm. I would have rather seen Kady go. Though I was happy Amanda didn't go.
Colton- Bad performance, but I thought Luke had an even worse one. I was not happy that Luke was not eliminated.

Had to work tonight...haven't read through what I've missed in the thread yet...

As far as who left...

Amy - no surprise there

Joanne - also no surprise, although I'm a bit disappointed. Granted, she wasn't great and I don't really think there was much power behind her voice, but I enjoyed her personality

Garrett - no surprise

Colton - not surprised, but a tad disappointed...I didn't really hate his performance on Tuesday night. Would've rather seen Luke (sorry, ladies) or Chikizie go home. Nevertheless, no great loss...

However, I'm just really happy that easy-on-the-eyes Kady is safe ;)

That was one weird show! I guess I was his only fan but I really liked Garrett. And ChuckyCheesy is still there while he's gone and Colton's gone?? :sad2: I just don't get it.

I usually enjoy Simon's witty comments but I thought he was just down right brutal last night. Telling Colton he should give up singing was not only wrong but totally uncalled for.

Paula's video made me nervous. Isn't she always having back trouble. I expected her to keel over at any moment. Maybe all the fans were keeping her upright. :rotfl:

The group song was possibly the worst group effort I've ever heard.... ANY WHERE!! I've seen grammar school kids put on a better show.

And what was up with Amanda being down with Joanne for the elimination thingy? Was that suppose to make us nervous? Well I suppose if they had showed Colton getting the boot over Jacuzzi, it might have worked.

And finally...
geez! they're all wearing black and crying their eyes out, i feel like i'm watching a funeral live on television!

:lmao: I kept thinking Michael Corleone might join them and maybe rub out the judges and Ryan.

I wasn't at all surprised with the girls that got eliminated.

Joanne- I agree she didn't do well Tuesday night at all, but I'm sorry I'll never get to hear her do well
Amy- Good choice
Colton- I was a little bit surprised. I was so hoping it would be Danny or Chikezie
Garrett-Sorry to see him go. I like the sound of his voice and would have liked to see what he could do. Again, it should have been Danny!

Did anyone else think the axing of Garrett was so abrupt? It borded on rude.

Over all I was ok with the dismissals. I thought it should have beenn Cheezy over Colton but they both stunk up my television enough that I'm sure he'll be sent home eventually anyway. As for the girl's...well I am thrilled that both of them were deep sixed.

Here's hoping that next week is better!

I was fine with Amy leaving, but I thought there were a couple others who should have left before Joanne.

I wasn't surprised that Garrett left, but was shocked when Colton left before Chekezie did. I thought Colton's performance was much better than Chekezie's. Chekezie even looked shocked that Colton went before him. And Simon's comment to Colton, about getting another job and just singing for fun was way out of line and he should never have said it.

A question about when the girls performed, did anyone else notice when Amy sang "Where The Boys Are" that Randy said Patsy Cline had done that song, and Amy didn't have the "country twang" to be able to sing it? Patsy Cline didn't sing that song, it was Connie Francis and she was not country!! :confused3

I DID notice that and was just as perplexed as I was that Simon didn't recognize the songs and these people CLAIM to be in the music business. I'd understand it if it was RehAbdul because she's always on some narcotic, but come on DAWG.... get it right~! (AND it was one of my FAVORITE movies!!!)

I am still wondering WHY so many people are still there. ChickNOTSOezie on the Eyes should be home packing! And at least ONE of the quadruplets should be going home for her birthday or to reBUY her horse... I don't know or care which one.

The AI boards have completely TURNED on Amanda... :confused3 She was voted they'd most like to NOT see the entire season... next to Danny Diva. I think her performance wasn't the greatest this week but she's the kind of act that can, at LEAST, make it look less of a high school talent show.

I don't know if this applies in this case, but I'm noticing more and more that Simon, instead of getting better at presenting himself and his (very insightful, right-on-target) perspectives, is getting worse. Over time, he has much more often been expressing his thoughts in ineffective ways, such as by applying sarcasm in a very dry manner (so many folks don't even realize that it is sarcasm), or by making arcane analogies that more often than not are distractingly inappropriate for an American audience. I think this might be a case of the former, where he's very convincingly claiming that he doesn't recognize the song, ostensibly because it was butchered so badly so that it is unrecognizable. I think he tries very little to think through his criticisms, so as to make them understandable and well-represent the (again, very insightful, right-on-target) perspectives he's trying to communicate.

My take on Amanda is that she has no personality. Even if she does have talent - which I'm not completely convinced of at this time, she seemsl like the type that would tell a seven year old to get out of her way when approached for an autograph. She just looks snippy and grouchy.
