I watched the performances on Rickey.org, and I don't feel bad anymore, I didn't miss much! What was with all the nasty songs? I thought until the top 12, they could pick what they wanted to sing. I can't imagine that they all wanted to pick such old, boring songs. And some of them were butchered pretty badly. Tomorrow has to be better!

Well, they used to be able to pick their own songs to sing. This year they are having themes for the top 24 as well, and last night was '60s night. I think that it is a mistake to have themes this early on.

I found him to be incredibly immature. It really isn't a good idea to spew your attitude toward Simon on the first night. Even if he had the best voice ever, the attitude would do him in. Can't stand him.

I hope we see better from the women tonight because overall I am not impressed by the men. Last year's group was so much better.

i have to agree. i can't stand it when someone has an ego that big. it's an automatic turn-off for me.

I'm hoping the girls do better tonight. They have some really good songs to choose from for female singers in the 60's so hopefully they make some better choices then the guys did.

so i was at work today and my co-worker, Linda, told me she was flipping back and forth between Idol and another show last night, and she goes "so it was 60's night, right?" And i said "yes" and she said "ok.....i grew up in the 60's, i didn't think the music was THAT boring! why did they pick those stupid songs?" yeah....most of them were horrible choices, i barely remember most of them.

I agree with a lot of you guys! Here's my thoughts on last night's show:

[B]David Cook[/B] - I can't get past the fact that he reminds me of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Chikizie - just ridiculous.

Luke Menard - too bad the music drowned him out. I actually love the theme from Midnight Cowboy. He looked cute though.

Jason Castro - he does look like Vinnie Barbarino, only with turds on his head.

Michael Johns - I thought he was ok, but I agree w/ Simon that he has star quality.

David Archuleta - I love that he was so giddy, like he truly appreciates being there right now. I hope this kid wins it.

HAHAHAHHA!!! My boyfriend and i thought the same thing about him looking like Philip Seymoure Hoffman! that is hilarious. I still liked him, but still..he really does look like him..a shrunken PSH.

Good question! i think they charge HUGE fees to use there tunes from what i remember..didn't michael jackson own the rights to their music for a few years??

Last night's show was overall a dissapointment. David A. and the dreadlocks dude definitely were my favorite performances . . . .it seemed like all the dreadlocks guy needed were a few Muppets by his side and he would have a perfect performance for Sesame Street!

Danny's performance was very . . . what's the word? . . . SANJAYA-ISH!!!! I had multiple flashbacks from last year during Danny's performance!

Also, if I were Colton I wouldn't exactly be telling the entire nation that I sing the Teletubies theme song to myself when I'm nervous.

And I can't believe they let that one guy through (I can't remember his name, but he was VERY boring and had long hair), and they didn't let Josiah through

I wasn't overly impressed by the majority although a few of the younger ones made me feel like a perv when I found out how young they are Couldn't help myself, I'm old enough to have swooned over Leif Garrett and Garrett Haley does remind me of him. I had a thing for Vinny Barbarino too..., why is it always the babies?

David Cook impressed me at his audition and continues to do so but Jason came out of nowhere and blew them all away. Aside from Bo Bice's Vehicle, that's gotta be my next favorite performance EVER

OK I thought that too when he said he was doing Elvis but I think he rocked it. I like him, he's fun I think Simon is about to rip into him though.

I think he did a pretty good job. Elvis isn't easy to imitate.
