I can't wait, im so excited this will be our 1st stay at FQ- i'm not finding many threads on this hotel. Does anyone know of any other links?

I think if you just Google "Port Orleans French Quarter" or "POFQ" you will probably find lots of info. I had no problem getting what I needed to plan for our first trip last year. Allears.net has good accomodations information.

I have never heard Bob play at POR but if you are staying at POFQ give Elliot Dyson a try. He plays in the ScatCat Lounge which is in the lobby of the POFQ. He plays Wednesdays through Saturdays from 9:00 to midnight and is really great.

This coming November we are going to try to get to see both Elliot and Bob.

Oh - I've never heard of Elliot Dyson. Has anyone seen his show? We LOVED Bob at POR in February. :cool1:

Elliot is wonderful. A lot of audience participation. Almost like hanging out with a bunch of lifelong friends.

I know that there isn't a quiet pool at POFQ now, but was there ever one in the past? It just seems that there are a few places that could have at one time accommodated a pool but are now courtyards or gardens.

On my hunt for POFQ pics, I came across this awesome flickr set from disneytravelguru: (i'd post a link but don't have enough posts to do so yet)

I love all the photos of what seems like everything pofq! :) I wonder if they're on disboard ? :)

Ok I got tired of reading these so I am sorry if this question was already asked.
Doe FQ have trundle beds. I know RiverSide does but wasnt sure abotu French Quater.
Thank You

We are almost within our 5 day window to call and make room preference requests. Can anyone suggest a section/spot as a good spot? Building?

We asked for standard room (since we didn't want to face the pool).

Thanks!

:worship: :worship: :worship: Just wanted to say thankyou for such a well informed thread we will be staying at French Quarter in September '09 for our wedding anniversay. It will be our first stay at a moderate hotel we have only stayed at values before. We have only booked a standard room so we realise that we will not have a 'water view' which is fine for us, looking forward to learning more about this resort.

Well, we've only stayed there once (so far!!) but we had room 2207 which is building 2, second floor, room 7 which was a really nice courtyard view and a short walk to everything.

Thank you! I doubt there are any hideous room views but would prefer not to have a view of the parking lot...but even that view is better than the view out my office window. :)

Don't fret about not having a water view. There are no balconies at POFQ, just a wrap around veranda type walkway so your windows open to an outdoor corridor. We paid for a water view, were in building 1 by the river. It was money not spent well, the river is lovely and tranquil but unless you leave your room you don't see it. WE are booked at POFQ in December, standard room. I always pay more for the view if there is some way to enjoy it but did not even consider it here.

Thanks Nancyg56 it's great to be able to find out more from folks like yourself.
We are happy to have a room near a courtyard or on the parking lot side of a building we figured we wouldn't get much pleasure out of a water view room being out most of the day in the parks. We have requested a parking lot room in the past at several hotels even though we don't drive but we have no special requests for this stay. We often find rooms near the parking lots have reduced noise levels from pool areas and it's usually quicker to walk to bus stops.
Just off to check out more trip reports and food reviews:thumbsup2
