Actually, it is by the pool. The pool, laundry room, and playground all sit on one side of the pool.

Keep in mind that you can't see the pool from the hot tub. Part of the reason most kids don't use the hot tub, they would be out of sight from their parents.

I have seen the fireworks, the high ones, from the bus stops. You could hear the music from there too.

Good morning form the snow covered (AGAIN!) east. :confused3

Good thing I have this trip to look forward to. We (actually I) are still having the great building debate. I know there are no guarentees but our TA has always been able to get us what we wanted.

When I look at the map, I'm thinking buildings 1, 6 or 7. We don't need to be near the pool or the food court-its just DH and myself so we want tranquil.
Was building 6 a smoking building before? Did that bother anyone? I'd like to be able to see the fireworks but will survive if not.

Thanks for your help:thumbsup2

According to my old PassPorter buildings 2 and 6 were the smoking buildings.

The only building I've ever stayed in is Building 4 in a courtyard view. It was very quiet. We never heard a soul and it was the closest building to the food court and buses. I'll be there in May and have requested the same building.

We stayed in building 5. We had a lovely view of the river and it was next to the pool. We were fortunate that the pool opened up our last night at the resort. My daughter was thrilled to be able to go down the slide. Unfortunately a threat of a thunderstorm cut her swim time short.

If Building's 2 and 6 were the old smoking buildings, have they been able to get rid of the smoke smell? New paint, carpet, furniture?:confused3

Last June we stayed in building 7. It was very quiet and there were no old smoking smells in our room. I loved the calm, peaceful air of the entire resort!

To be honest, there are no really long walks at POFQ. Even from the furthest point in building 7, it's only a 350 yard walk back to the main building. And building 7 is actually the closest for walking to POR (it's just the other side of the river bridge) so probably no more than 5-10 minutes depending on where your room is and which bit of POR you want - POR is much bigger!

My son is driving me nuts! I have ressies at CBR for a preferred room location in Oct. and now he thinks the pool at POFQ is better looking because of the slide.

My main question is, how is the atmosphere compared to CBR? (I have stayed at CBR and CSR and never been to any of the port orlean hotels); my mom will be with us though and she loves the whole southern/mardi gras theme.

Also, How is the bus transporation compared to the other moderates since you are sharing buses? How many stops are there

Sorry for all the questions!

The slide looks like just the coolest thing ever. It is ... visually. But the height of the slide is pretty low. In other words, your vertical descent from top to bottom is relatively small. My then-6.5 year old son and 4 year old daughter loved it!

Then again, we don't know what coolness Disney has in store for us at CBR when the main pool re-opens in mid-September of this year. SO it's a wild card, a gamble.

At POFQ, I think the bus service is superior to that at CBR, but I had no problems with the way CBR does buses. POFQ and POR share buses. There's one stop at POFQ and 4 at POR for a total of 5. CBR has 7. Buses start at POFQ and then go on to POR, and it works this way both coming and going (except for DOwntown Disney buses, which start at POR first).

This means that at POFQ you'll always be the first stop, for going to the parks and being dropped off after the parks. But they don't share 100% of the time. Of the 7 mornings that I took a bus from POFQ, we went into POR only twice (the other 5 times we just went straight to our destination). And of those 2 times, we only did the full POR circuit once; the other time we made only one stop in POR and then went on to our destination.

On the way back from the parks, the sister resorts always share buses EXCEPT for the Magic Kingdom after 3:00 p.m. ... they have separate buses there after that time.

I stayed at CBR twice before trying POFQ. I loved CBR, but we wanted to try something new. I'm so glad we did that, because now we have 2 resorts we love!!!

Was it a long walk to POR and to the Bus stops for POFQ from building 7?

As Andre said, it probably isn't more than a 10 minute walk over to Riverside from Building 7. As for the bus stop -- less than five minutes to get to it. Not bad at all! The food court and pool area were less than a five-minute walk also. One of the reasons we love POFQ is that everything is within easy walking distance.

Does anyone have a pic of the hottub or playground? Or know where of a site where i could find one?

Also, does POR and POFQ share bus stops at the parks? I saw posted above that after 3 pm the mk bus only goes to porfq...

Part of the bus stop sharing depends on the time of year. We were there over Christmas week and we only went to a POR stop once when the parks were opening in the morning and that was only the first stop.

Coming back from the parks is nice because POFQ is the first stop.

Here's a link http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Port-Orleans-F/index.htm
to some photos from the DIS POFQ website that includes a photo of the play area. I don't have any photos of the hot tub. Every time I thought about taking a photo, someone was in it and I didn't feel right taking a photo with them in it (not quite the same as taking a photo of many people at a pool).

I am heading there next week, I will try to remember to take some pics of the hot tub. Here is what I could find on the slide to give you a better idea

Can someone tell me which buildings are non-smoking? We are headed back to POFQ in December, we will be there 12/8 - 12/16!

The whole of Walt Disney World is now non-smoking, apart from an odd few open-air areas where smoking is specifically allowed.

Does anyone know if these rooms still have a smoke/stuffy smell ? I had requested either building 2 or 5 river view and wondering if I should change my request. If there is even a smidgen of smoke smell, etc...me and my ds's sinuses go haywire :scared1:.
