The 100% Original POFQ FAQ

DH and I walked around POFQ and POR last week after enjoying a delicious meal at Boatright's. We found Ol' Man Island and the great looking pool there, but when we walked around POFQ, we couldn't find the themed pool. We saw 2 pools that were more formal, but nothing like a Mardi Gras themed pool. How would we find it, if we were coming from Ol' Man Island? I know that I did see it once!

Thank you, and I saw a map among the posts as well. None of that looks familiar to me, none of the names. Never saw an alligator! We must have been walking along Riverside, (but we did cross the river) or some other dimension!:confused3

Must have been one too many times on ToT. :lmao:

POR is actually on both sides of the river, while POFQ is up (or down?) the river from POR. You probably just crossed over between the mansions and the alligator bayou sections of POR.

That's why I like POFQ. I always get lost in the bigger resorts. Seriously, it took us days to figure out how to get to/from our room at CBR. By then, we'd taken wrong turns so many times, they looked familiar so we just kept taking them.

I'm glad we weren't looking for our rooms, (we stayed at VWL). That would have been a larger challenge than we were up to! I can't wait to go back, just to get the area straight in my mind.

Thank you.

On Expedia, they've two vidoes of the room - one says "Standard", and the other "Magnolia". Can anyone explains me the difference - the Maglnolia looks like have 2 windows (vs 1 on standard). Are these same priced room - or one is more expnsive than others? Please help me out- wife likes the Magnolia look (on expedia) - don't see any explanation on room difference on my Unoffical Guide to Wal Disney World 2007 (other than water view etc).

Magnolia is a building at POR not FQ. I think all the corner rooms have 2 windows but this would just be a request. At FQ you can reserve standard or water view. Water view would be a view of the river or pool.

Expedia mislabeled that. It's actually building 6. It is a corner room, that's why it has 2 windows. Is it more, well judging by the location on the map it is. It has a water view. But a word of advice, don't pay for one there. It's a lovely resort, but the water view just isn't worth the extra cost. Also, I'd go through CRO instead of Expedia. That way if a code comes out it is easier to apply. With Expedia, you must pay all of it at once. At CRO, you have to put down $200. The rest is either do upon arrival (if you have a room only) or 45 days before arrival (if you do a package). You can reach at: 1-800-828-0228.

Random question:upsidedow : Are the doors into the rooms heavy and self-closing or will they stay open on their own? I'm just wondering if I need to bring a doorstop since we'll be between a few rooms when we go (extended family's coming). SO can you leave the door open without assistance or are they the heavy doors that shut automatically (does that make any sense?):confused3

If you mean the door to the outside, then yes. The connecting room door, I'm not sure. Better safe than sorry. I'd bring one, if you don't need it then no big deal.

I know AB at POR has the trundle beds, but I have a question about FQ. Can you request a roll away bed?

I know AB at POR has the trundle beds, but I have a question about FQ. Can you request a roll away bed?

When I called to make my ressie's I requested a king room with a roll away and was told that it wasn't possible at POFQ.

About the rollaway, when I made my Free Dining reservation for FQ, I asked for a roll away. My CM put me on hold to confirm it was possible, and came back and said that it was on the reservation and should be no problem unless they were already gone by the time we checked in.

This was a decision maker between AB at POR and POFQ, so my reservation CM checked to be sure. My 15 year old DD won't share a bed with anyone.

But I don't have a king sized bed. Maybe that's the difference?

We just stayed at POFQ in January with 4 adults (me, my sister, my mom and my fiance.) Due to the fact that we are all adults (and very tall adults at that) I asked about a rollaway bed. They said they couldn't do that because there was no way they could guarantee that we didn't have extra people in there. So we took an air mattress with us instead. No one ever said anything about it, but it was kind of a pain in the neck.

I am hoping to book POFQ tomorrow w/ free dining. DD 6 has always wanted to stay there because of the pool. I've started reading all of the threads about FQ out there and I have really started to get excited about this resort.

By the looks of the maps if I want to be closer to the pool I should request blg 4 or 5. I had read 4 is a smoking bldg but is 5 smoking or non smoking? TIA
