Hi ya'll!

Just wanted to post that we drove down to DW on April 14th with ressies for the 16th+ and to our suprise we drove straight through and needed a room a night early -
when we called the WL was going to be 300+ (we were paying 198 with a code for our other nights!) so we opted to try the POFQ for the first night...
the kids LOVED the pool, the paths are sooo great to miander on, couldn't resiste but put dd (9 months) in the mouth of an alligator statue for a picture!
We were in building 3 first floor corner, the room was BIG clean and the kids LOVED the curtain seperating the sink area (just wished it was split in the middle for their show)
The food court seemed expensive to me though - I don't know if it was first night sticker shock or cuz I got the taco salad instead of the usual cheeseburger!
The room was very convienent to everything I thought!

The grounds are gorgeous.
We walked to Boatwrights for breakfast and it was a gorgeous walk to a delicious breakfast, then we took the boat ride back to the resort-

Actually DH and I were just talking last night about maybe staying there for our entire next trip! I think we should do a split stay again - but maybe with the beach club this time ;) better work on wracking up those disney reward points!

We're thinking of doing a split stay in January (for the marathon) 3 nights POFQ or POR and three nights Poly. Still switching back and forth between POR and POFQ, leaning towards POFQ. Now from looking at the map it woud seem that Building 7 is closest to POR. Is that correct. How far of a walk to POR (Boatwrights, pools, marina) is it from that building? How is the food court at POFQ? The rooms look really nice from the pictures I've seen posted and the grounds looks great.

hi robyn- we just returned last week ... sigh ... from POFQ. we were in bldg5 and were very close to POR. I think it was maybe a 10min walk. We liked the food court at POFQ b/c it was not as crowded and they have beignets:) rooms were VERY nice indeed! :) I was surprised at the renovation. we stayed there several years ago and were pleasantly surprised at the new changes!

A couple of questions...Wife and daughter fell in love with the pool at POFQ and want me to 'request' a poolside room for our trip next June. If I opt for the 'waterview' rooms, how likely will I be to actually getting pool side as opposed to the 'river'?

On top of this, I've had to start using an ECV/wheelhchair to get around, are there any rooms in the area that have the wide doors? (Don't need the shower-only and would need the 2 beds.) How much trouble will I have making these 'requests'?

I think if you requested building 5 waterview you would stand a good chance. As far as the doors good question? I was getting a double stroller thru no problem, here is a pic of me in front of our door at POFQ it might help you judge.

Question about the POFQ food court....do they have a toaster or toasting machine? Also, do they have a microwave? Thanks!

Toaster- YES

HAve fun at one of our fave resorts! :wizard:

We are going to POFQ in July. Does anyone know if there is a roller bed available? Is there enough space in the room?

Thanks in advance! pirate:

Could someone please provide or provide a link to the best and easiest directions from MCO to POFQ? Thanks so much!!!

Follow the signs for the South Exit from the airport to pick up SR417 South (also called the Central Florida GreeneWay) towards Disney World. Once on SR417, you'll have 2 toll plazas for $1 each. After the 2nd toll, take exit 6 (SR 536/International Drive). Go straight through two sets of traffic lights (first intersection will be International Drive; second will be SR535) which will put you on SR536. Continue straight on this road and go straight through the next set of lights. You will pass the Marriott Orlando World Center on the right and the Holiday Inn Family Suites on the left, then I-4.

Just after I-4, you'll pass under the WDW welcome arch and the road becomes Epcot Center Drive. Take the 3rd exit after the arch. The sign will say Port Orleans/Old Key West. Go left at the set of lights at the end of the exit ramp. This is Bonnet Creek Parkway. Stay in the right hand lane and continue straight through the next traffic light. The entrance to Port Orleans French Quarter will be the first resort on your right after the traffic light. Port Orleans Riverside will be a little further down also on the right.

Decided to splurge on a king room - anyone know if king rooms are corner rooms? New confirmation said view - variable - so that will be a surprise for sure. Can't wait to get there!! :Pinkbounc

I read the thread, but I got some conflicting info. Which buildings are the smoking rooms located in? TIA.

We just returned yesterday from 6 nights at the POFQ. We were in building 3, third floor, corner room. Very close to the food court and buses and close really to the pool as well. The walk to POR was about 10-15 minutes from our room. Our room was very nice and clean. We really enjoyed our stay ::MickeyMo .

Our family is planning a trip to WDW in December 2006. We were last at the world in November 2004 and stayed at CBR. We loved it there, but are thinking about something new. I was wondering if anyone had any photos of the resort from November or December? I am finding plenty of pictures of spring and summer. I was wondering if the landscaping was much different at that time.

We booked a Preferred room at CBR to be near the food court. From most of the replies in this thread, it does not seem like we really need a preferred room. Is it worth the extra $$$? Or should I just book the standard and take my chances at maybe getting a river view at check in? We are going to be there the 1st week of December. Seems like the crowds will be next to nothing.

Thanks in advance, merryg :wave2:

I once booked a standard room at POFQ. We were given a corner room on the second floor facing the court yard. I would probably take my chances and go ahead book the standard. :confused3

how many floors does each building at POFQ have? and are there elevators? we liked having a top floor at pop last year... no one to walk above us, and we could watch the kids walk to the food court from our "balcony" (aka exterior corrider! LOL!)

does POFQ even have "preferred" room locations (as opposed to preferred views)?

There are 3 floors in each buliding and yes they have elevators , as far as the preferred view, the rooms over look either a courtyard, a small cobblestone street( pedestrains, the staff golf carts, horsedrawn carriage) or water(pool, river) there are some rooms that over look the parking lots but the view is pretty well blocked by trees and shrubs.

Check the photos on the first page of this thread you can see the building and the grounds.
