The Cast- Myself, turned 32 on the trip, DH 35, Cam 7, Colt almost 4. We've been to WDW quite a few times, but this was our first Christmas trip. My main concern was to take in the holiday events, but in the end we got a lot more done than we had planned.
Wednesday 12/24
This morning started off with a walk to the BW for breakfast at the Bakery. We ate at a table out along the water which was nice, even though it was still a little chilly. After breakfast it was time to head back to the Swan to pack up for our move to the Poly. We were ready around 10:00 and called the Poly to see if our room was ready(if it hadnt been we would have sent the luggage through Bell Services). Since the room at the Poly was ready we promptly called Bell Services to bring our luggage down and we got a cab. I had planned to take the kids on the bus, but we all managed to fit in the cab, luggage and all. We checked in at the Poly with barely a wait. Here too we were asked for an AP since we were using the AP rate. We got one of my 2 requested buildings, Fiji, however we didnt get a balcony like I had hoped for. But, we had a patio which is the next best thing especially with the beach right outside the door. The room had a great view of the wedding pavilion and a little of the GF. If we walked out to the beach we could see the castle. Love that view!
After a little unpacking we rushed off to Epcot remembering we wanted to make it to the 12:30 cookie baking session in the Land and we were cutting it close.. Having the TTC within walking distance was wonderful. We rode the monorail to Epcot and walked at a good clip (ok, we pretty much ran) through Epcot, through the Land pavilion to get there on time(we had been told to arrive about 15 minutes early). On our way through the tables in the Land we passed by my DU agents family and picked up her DD to come with us. When she heard what we were going to do, she sounded interested so I offered to take her along. The kids had a lot of fun making the cookies. Each kid was given 2 cookies, and a container of chocolate chips. They were a great midday snack for us.
Other than that the only thing I had planned was to explore World Showcase before our 4:20 PS at Le Cellier for the Candlelight Processional Package. I hoped to catch some of the story tellers. Mexico was our first stop and the ride here was a walk on. We did that and saw we had some time before the story teller here was scheduled. So we went over to Norway and immediately caught the story teller there. Cam then saw someone with one of the masks walk by and he asked if they could get those. Weve never done those before and barely explored WS at all because I didnt think the kids would enjoy it. But, we had plenty of time for that today so we went back to Mexico to start the masks. The kids loved coloring them and getting their stamps and additions at each country. We also were able to catch the story tellers in Mexico now. We had gotten FPS for the ride in Norway and did that before making our way around WS working on the masks and catching what story tellers we could. The one in Italy, La Boufana, was great! She was more like a comedian than anything else.
We ended up arriving at Le Cellier a little after 4:00, had a short wait, then had dinner. Just to show you how busy it was, the hostess had quite a few people come up and ask if they could get in and her standard reply was We are booked until January 1st.
After dinner we made our way back to America to get ready for the CP. People were already being seated so we parked the stroller and went in. Tip For The Day*If you go during the holidays, DO NOT MISS this show!*. I thought it was just incredible, especially to see it on Christmas Eve. Wow!
When the show was over we stopped to make a quick call home to family, DH grabbed the stroller(note Im naming him here) and the we started to head out. We still had a few more countries to hit on the way out to complete the masks. We did France, and the UK, when DH said I dont think this is our stroller.
The sippy cup in the bottom basket was a dead give away. UGH! So I finished doing Canada with the kids and DH went back to America to straighten out the carriage situation. Luckily he found ours and returned the other one to where he got it. I hope the other family didnt even notice it was gone. In fairness to DH, it was the exact same stroller as ours
.and WS does seem very dark to me.
We hoped the monorail for an early night so we would be ready to hit the MK by opening tomorrow. When we arrived back at the Poly, DH stopped at the GCH to check if EMH was not going to be at MK tomorrow(it should have been, but I noticed on the tv channel it said EE was at MK that day, which was Wednesday.. The answer was yes, they did switch Wed/Thurs that week). Upon entering the room I had all the bags, the carriage (the right carriage), and the kids of course were arguing over who was opening the door that time. While I tried getting in the room with all my junk, Cam was already in and he yelled out Hey! Who left the party?
What? I looked up and the table was covered with a table cloth, plates and silverware were there, along with 3 balloons, and a Mickey cake. A Magical Moments Certificate was there for me, and even candles, matches, party hats, and tooters. WOW!
My birthday wasnt for 4 more days, LOL! I had noted it on the reservation, not expecting anything, but hoping to get an edge in getting our room requests met. This was great. And since DSs birthday was the 18th, I told him this was for him too. He liked that.
We each had a quick bite of cake, before resting up for Christmas Day.
