The Cast- Myself, turned 32 on the trip, DH 35, Cam 7, Colt almost 4. We've been to WDW quite a few times, but this was our first Christmas trip. My main concern was to take in the holiday events, but in the end we got a lot more done than we had planned.
Tuesday, 12/23
We started out today with DH doing a Tubbis run, before heading over to MGM. We were able to walk through and catch the movie in One Mans Dream before the first show of Playhouse Disney. The kids have dubbed One Mans Dream, The boring ride, but DH & I found it very interesting. We then went to see Beauty & The Beast. I have a little pet peeve here. We didnt arrive too early, but we still were able to get in and get seats up in the balcony section. After the show started, they continued to let people in the theater, telling us to move over, move over, even when there wasnt much room. Now we were on the very end, and the last minute stragglers had better seats than us. That probably wouldnt have bothered me so much but I literally had a kid(maybe about 11 yo) sitting on half my lap as his parents kept pushing him in.
I finally had to say to him I cant move over anymore and I managed to squish our camera bag between us in order to get him off me. Ok, vent over, we watched the show and it brought back the Disney Magic. How could it not?
It was now lunch time and we went to one of the kids favorites, Pizzas Planet. After lunch, while the kids played a few games, DH pointed out the Radio Disney on the park map. There is a place (to the left of Sounds Dangerous) where you can go and watch BB Good, do her Radio Disney show, weekdays 12:00-4:00. I couldnt believe I hadnt heard about this on the Dis. Cam is really into music lately and he wants to be a DJ so this was perfect for him. We went and checked it out, not really sure what to expect. You can see BB and the studio inside a glass window. You can also hear what is being broadcast outside there. Another woman came out and got the kids names and said BB would say hello to the kids on the air when the song is over. When it was over she did mention Cameron & Colton from Woo Woo Woburn MA were visiting WDW. We thought that was it, but the other woman motioned from inside the window to wait. BB then came out talked to the kids and gave them goodie bags with sticker, autographs, pens, etc She also gave them a tape of her broadcasting their names on the air. The kids got such a kick out of this.
Tip For Today
*If you do this be sure to let family at home know ahead of time*. I had about 3 minutes to whip out my cell phone and try to get a hold of someone at home to tell them to put the radio on. Of cousre, no one was at their desks when I was calling them at work. But, at least we have the tape. We then let the kids run around the HISTK playground for a while, before heading back to the Swan.
This was the 1 day we made it in the pool! Woohoo!!! The kids loved the pool, Colt had a blast on the water slide. My legs really needed that hot tub by this point, and what could be better than sitting on a lounge chair in the sun, drinking a banana daquari on 12/23.
After washing up and doing some laundry we went over to Epcot for the evening. We had wanted to do the cookie baking in the Land Pavillion, but we arrived there at 4:45 and the last group of the day started at 4:30. So we checked the times out and made note to get there in time for the 12:30 group tomorrow. We then spent a few minutes in the interactive play area outside Food Rocks, while waiting for that show to start. This is another of the kids favorites. We will be sorry to see it go. By now it was close to 5:30 so we decided to go to the archway to wait for the tree lighting ceremony. On the way Cam and I stopped in Ice Station Cool. Im proud to say, we did it! We both drank the Beverly. It really wasnt bad until that after taste kicked in. Ewwww!
After a short wait we watched the tree lighting. It was a neat little show definitely worth the wait.
We then checked out the Living Seas before heading to the Liberty Inn for dinner. After dinner it was a little after 8:00. We decided to start staking out a spot for Illuminations at 9:30. We never end up with a good spot or we skip it and this time I was determined to be able to see, and be comfortable so I could truly enjoy it. I have always heard outstanding reviews of it, but Ive never gotten it. We parked ourselves on a bench , along the water between Morocco & France. While we were waiting DH went back to America to pick up some funnel cakes. Yum!
We finally saw Illuminations from a great spot. While I do think it is a great fireworks show, I still dont get it. I know people rave that its the best show around, but I still feel Fantasmic and even now Wishes beat it.
Now it was back to the Swan to get ready for our move to the Poly in the morning .
