That's just so very annoying

The biggest issue is that I specifically said no phone calls and wrote "No phone calls" with my information. It's a work phone and so I'll getting dozens of calls from clients which means my phone is constantly beeping and interrupting while I'm on a call when they call me over and over again. So I'm putting clients on hold to speak to them. I told both callers yesterday to not call and today I get two more calls. They will not be getting my business at this point.

I would contact the manager and let them know exactly why they lost the sale. And I'd probably add in exactly how many people I plan to advise against going to their dealership, lol!

I'm single (divorced) and have encountered the same attitude from some car salespeople. I wanted a pickup truck, went to a dealership and walked up to a truck to read the info on the window. A salesman walked up and told me where they had the sedans. I told him I wanted a truck, he asked me if I was sure, and when I said yes, he didn't even ask me if I wanted to test drive one. He just said, "What would keep you from driving this truck off the lot right now?"
I smiled and said, "Your price." I bought a nice new pickup at another dealership.

When my daughter and I were shopping for a used car for her to drive to school, sports practices, etc., a salesperson tried to get us to look at a $40k used SUV. I told him she and I were not going to spend even half that, and he offered to knock it down to $38k! I told him I didn't pay that much for my truck when it was brand new, and we weren't going to spend that much on an SUV for a high school student. We bought a great used Trailblazer from the same dealership where I bought my truck. Thank goodness for caller ID. Six months later, the salesman was still calling my house. He offered to cut the price on the $40k SUV all the way down to $36k:rolleyes:

I learned years ago never to walk into a dealership and let some salesman in the lot pick you. Those are usually the new guys or low performers. The good salesmen who have repeat customers for years are rarely hanging out in the lot.

Many years ago (probably in 1983 like the other example), I literally had a salesman lock me in the dealership with him at night. He told me I couldnt' leave until I bought the car. I was pretty young - but not stupid. I was a little frightened of him, but I did not buy a car there.

My last few cars I dealt with:
Sales manager of dealership - a delightful man who ordered the exact car I wanted. He never tried to push one thing on me. (GM - Pontiac Vibe). I would deal with him again anytime.

Salesperson delegated to work with my credit union - again no hassle, etc. Honda Accord

Brother-in-law of a friend (dealership owned by a cousin) - I had to ask them to add a couple of things. Went out of their way to help me. Treated me like family. Honda Odyssey

Cousin's brother-in-law - been selling cars for decades. Knows his business and respects his customers. Ford Explorer

In every case I knew who I was going to deal with before I set foot on the lot.

Come to NJ, most salesman here can't be bothered to wait on you.

Two years ago, I wanted to test drive the new Corolla. I was looking to replace a 14 year old Camry. Since I was not buying that day and did not have my DH with me, the salesman refused to even unlock the car so I could sit in it. Told me I had to bring my DH in.

I didn't buy there, even though that's where I bought the last one.

This happened to me years ago. I was stunned. I called the manager of the dealership the next day and told him what transpired, informing him politely that I had my own job, am a grown woman, and capable of buying a car on my own.
well you never saw someone trip over themselves so fast, trying to get me to buy the car, stating they would agree to a big discount , blah blah blah,
I thanked him but said no thanks I will take my business elsewhere.

so went to a different dealership, same make of car...........I knew the price I wanted to pay ( I use Edmunds.com to come up with fair market value), walked in salesman came over, I told him what I wanted and what i wanted to pay and he said ok great, done deal :)

and that is the car we still have that hubby drives now the 1998 with 142000 miles on it :)
