I drove for the first time ever today!!!!!! :cool1:

I'm such a bad driver! It was horrible. The two girls that were with me were laughing at me and I was trying so hard, but it just wasn't working for me. I just can't get the hang of it. I kept spazzing out and slamming on the brakes. My teacher's not the most patient guy on earth either. I don't think he likes me. :teeth:

Anyway, stay off all Illinios roads. :earboy2:

What happend the first time you or your kid drove?

Those girls have probably driven before. You'll get it. I remember being in driver's ed with a kid that almost ran over a construction worker and he passed so you'll pass too. ;)

I drove into a mailbox the first time I drove. In fact, I'm not a much better driver than that now. ;)

My dad was yelling at me, I was so scared that I drove into the woods.
To this day I don't drive.

My dad would just tell me to get the car back on the road because he didn't want to clean weeds out of the wheel well. :rotfl: I was scared of the center line and getting close to other cars so I would really hug the shoulder. Not much of a shoulder though on country roads. ;)

One had, one hadn't :p

Forgot to say I'm taking it as a senior instead of a sophmore like a lot of people do. I really didn't want to drive untill this year when all of my friends starting diriving a lot.

It takes a while to get used to it, but you will get used it. It's hard for everyone the first time - whether they admit it or not.

This is long and you are warned ;)
I had to take my DD out for the first time after getting her permit. We live in the country off of a long winding highway. She had band practice so I thought, what the hey. Well she is in the drivers seat, I am of course in the passenger seat and other DD (who was about 8 at the time) in the back. It is a highway with lost of curves and the speed limit is 45. Everytime she came upon a curve I was clenching the door and saying in the calmest voice "Brake, Brake, BRAKE"
We arrvie safely and she jumps out and I get in the drivers seat, shaking!!

I ask younger DD how she thought her older Sis did and she said, "perfect Mommy and you were soo cool" :confused3
I asked what she meant by that and she came off with, "The whole ride down you kept telling her she was doing "great". :rotfl2:
She mistook brake with great ;)

I bet you were a sexy beast on the streets!

:rotfl: nah.. I was a sexy beast on the driving range and a little in the school lot. :earboy2:

The day my DS got his permit, my DH let him drive home. As they pulled into the driveway, he was going a little too fast. DH said "BRAKE, BRAKE, BRAKE!!!" So he stomped on what he thought was the brake. It was the gas. He drove through the garage door going pretty fast. I have pictures in case I ever need them for blackmail. ;) By the way, my car was okay. Just a few scratches. The garage door had to be replaced. :teeth:

ugh... I was horrible when I first got my license.. had no business driving... the day I got my license I asked to take the car out... while backing out of the garage I hooked the corner of the bumper on the edge of the garage door & proceeded to continue to pull out... in a panic I stopped knowing I'd damaged the car & not knowing what to do... I looked up to see my dad coming out of the house with a sledge hammer in his hands.. he took two big whacks to bend the bumper back, turned around & went back in the house without saying a word! I high tailed it out of there.. and rfor months I couldn't park in a parking spot if there were cars on either side of me so when I went to work at the mall I'd have to park in the last rows & walk... Trust me... practice makes perfect... you'll get better!

My first time behind the wheel of the car was very scary. We were driving around cones, no problem, I had to speed up and slow down, no problem, wait there was a problem the brakes had gone out so I ended up jumping a curb the driving instructor was pushing depsarately on his brake with no luck, the emergency brake didn't work so we threw it in park before we hit anything. Not good to do on the car and wouldn't recommend it but it worked. The director of the driving school came running and yelling at us but the instructor explained what happend and the director went uh oh. That car was pulled out of commission and the instructor did drive with me again. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you got off to a rough start. It will only get better...
the first time is the worst.
Can your parents take you to a real quiet road with very little traffic and let you practice? That way you can feel a little more comfortable behind the wheel.

Don't feel bad or worry. Your a female and we all know that they can't drive! ;)

Before I get flamed by all the ladies out there... I'm just kidding! Don't you see the winking thing?
