Harvest 2012 is officially over!
It has been a year for the record books, but not in a good way. I hope this year is one that will just become a story passed on to future generations like 1934. Considering we broke records set that year for heat and lack of rainfall, I truly hope we never see a year like this again. It is over and behind us now, so we'll get ready for next year and do it all over again.
There is still a lot to be done on the farm before winter gets here, but we won't be as rushed to get things done as we have been the past month or so. Hopefully, now that I'm not heading home from work every evening and going straight to work on the farm, I'll have more time to focus on other things between now and our trip... like final plans for our trip.
And maybe I can catch up on some sleep too...
Anyway, I need to start stalking some ADR's. I like what we have, but would really like to get a better time on a couple of them. We've been going over park day plans as things change. Now that we have the official Fantasyland opening and the planned day for Test Track to reopen during our stay, there could be a couple of busy park days at the end of the week. It made me re-evaluate our plans since we have all our EPCOT time at the end of the week after Test Track is scheduled to re-open, but I think we'll stick with what we had. We'll just have to hit TT early and grab FP for another ride later. I'm always good with just one ride on Soarin' anyway, and I wouldn't think the re-opening of Test Track would have a huge impact on the other attractions and WS.
Tickets have been purchased, courtesy of Undercover Tourist, so we're now officially locked into spending a day at Universal Studios/IoA. I think the plan will still be to head there on Monday. I've always been a fan of Universal and I like the fact that there are some fun coasters there to ride, but DW and I were talking about it and we're just not excited to go there this time.
I'd like to have more than a day to spend between the 2 parks if we're going and with Disney's shorter hours that time of year and a schedule where you only have so many evenings to see all the different holiday festivities going on, I really hate to spend a day somewhere else.
I know we'll have fun, but I think I'll be glad to get this day behind us and put the focus back on the Disney parks. I really hate to go to Universal and not have a few days of time to enjoy everything, but I hope to at least have an hour or 2 to head over to CityWalk and grab a hurricane at Pat O'Briens.
Now, I need to ask for some advice from the seasoned veterans of traveling with babies...
When we took DS last year, he was well past the stage of using bottles. A few days ago I was washing bottles for DD and it hit me like a ton of bricks... We're going to have to wash bottles while we're at Disney World.
Yes, I've been planning this trip for months and planning every detail of what we need to pack, but never really considered the fact that we'd have to hand wash bottles every night in the hotel room.
Truthfully, I know it isn't that big of a deal and won't take all that long to do, but with 2 kids, I kind of want to limit the amount of daily responsibilities that will have to be taken care of so that we'll be able to maximize our time at the parks and then be able to get back to the room and relax instead of having to scramble around getting things ready to go back out again. Has anyone ever tried or would you recommend disposable bottles to avoid this extra inconvenience or should we just stick with our normal bottles and just pack stuff to clean them daily? Any other ideas, sugestions or comments would be much appreciated.
Also, I have recently made some purchases for our stroller. We got a City Mini double stroller last year for Christmas from my parents. One thing that we didn't like about it was that it didn't have a tray, but after doing some research, I found out you could get a bar that goes across the front and a tray that attaches to it. Since it worked well to give DS snacks as we walked around the park last year, we're hoping that we'll be able to do that again this time. I meant to take a picture to put here so that there is something other than words, but I forgot.
Maybe if I remember I can come back and add one later.
I also bought a rain cover while I was at it. I know we aren't going during a rainy season, but I think a rain cover for a stroller is good insurance that we hopefully won't have to use. I wanted to get it out and put it on the stroller just to check the fit and it is actually really a good quality cover and it fits very well. DS was "helping" me and wanted to climb in and sit in the stroller while it was on. Here's where I did something not so smart. I had a glass of water, so I stuck my fingers in it and then flicked water at DS as he sat under the rain cover to show him how it worked. A few minutes later, after I took the rain cover off and was folding it, I see DS splashing the entire glass of water into the stroller seat.
Yeah... should have seen that one coming.

That's all I have for now, we're just a little over a month away, so I'm going to have to start giving a better rundown of our daily plans as the trip approaches!
