That one moment **TISSUE ALERT**

My special moment happend 2 years ago when I was able to fulfill a promise I had made to my mother 11 years earlier. In 1996 my parents and I had planned a trip to Disney and my father passed away 1 month before we were to leave. My mother and I still went on the trip as we so desperately needed it. My father was terminally ill for 18 months. My mother and I had a difficult time with that trip and many tears were shed thinking about my father and how he would have loved it. As we watched the fireworks on our last night we creid and at that time I made a promise to my mother that I would bring her back again one day and it we would have a wonderful time.
Well in Feb. 2007 I nearly lost my mother and it came back to me that I had not held up to my promise and I felt terrible that night as the doctors said she wouldn't make it thru the night. Well she did and my husband said "You start planning that trip now!". The next week I told her she was to fight this and pull thru and we were going to DISNEY! She fought hard and had a big hill to climb but she did and we went to Disney 7 months later!! My husband and I took my mother to Disney and the first night we watched Wishes on Main street in front of the castle and my husband was in the middle between my mother and I and all of us had tears coming down our cheeks! I was so fortunate to have been able to take my mother back to Disney one more time and fulfill a promise I had made earlier. All three of us loved this moment and I still cry when I think about that magical moment!

I have several...

Tinkerbell flying over us at Wishes and my DD4 going...ITS TINKERBELL!!!! ITS TINKERBELL!!!!

DD4s first glimpse of snow white at the bfast (picture in TR)
DD8 telling Cinderlla that DD4s nickname was punkin', and she got all excited and turned to her and bent down and looked in her eyes and said, REALLY?? Pumpkins are my FAVORITE. I nearly cried.

One that wasn't my child...but a little girl behind us at bfast..about 2...saw sleeping beauty and started crying out "Rora....Rora" and Aurora scooped her up and got down in the floor with her...and the little girl goes "I ruv you Rora" TOO CUTE!

DD4 telling me the first night we were there as she was drifting off to sleep "Dis has been da best day evah"
DD8 Telling me that she didn't care if one of the rides was broken...cus we were STILL IN DISNEY WORLD!!!
The look on their faces when they told us at OKW that we were family of the day, and they were princesses of the day...

DD8 telling me that she was glad we came to WDW..because it was so much fun...and she gave me the half hug and said...thanks mom. THIS IS AWESOME! :-)

Ours was last year during the YOAMD. We were standing and waiting while we took a picture on Main Street and gathering up our party when a mom came up. She commented that she had not seen our lanyards before (Dream Lanyards with 6 pins). We had all gotten them at some point during the day just for walking by a certain point in the park. We asked her if there was a pin she would like as none of us are collectors really though DD was starting (She was just 3 at the time) since being given the lanyard. She told us about her son on whom she was waiting and how he was an avid collector because each of his pins told a story and held a memory for him. He is mentally handicapped and unable to speak clearly, but he can retell the stories of the pins with excitement and joy that overcomes his speech difficulties. We told the mother to take one for her son then and she asked if we would mind waiting another minute while he came from the store next door. Of course we did. :) When they came back a minute later, she and he were rapidly signing, explaining the situation and coming back to us. My DD began to sign with him! I was so proud. I took 3 years of signing in college and we used sign with her (thank you Signing Time!!!), but I had never seen her voluntarily use it. She told him "gift you" and took off her lanyard. He was so excited and the mom was crying and I was crying. We were able to sign with them for a few more minutes until we all started on our separate ways. Just as we were putting DD in her stroller, a cast member stopped us (also crying) and gave our DD a very special Tink pin. He said it was only given to people who showered others with Pixie Dust to make their trip magical too. Of course, DD had no idea that she had done anything extraordinary she was just being her precious 3 year old self.

It gets me every time I look at her pin. Needless to say it won't be traded anytime soon. (Well, not unless DD sees someone she thinks needs it more.) :thumbsup2

We took our first trip to The World in June. The first thing we did was go to the Castle for Dinner with Cinderrella. I was hooked when we walked into the receiving room to meet Cindi and I saw the looks on my three girls faces. What a first moment of Disney!

Also, a couple of nights later in Frontierland to watch SpectroMagic. My three girls were in their Minnie ears. The parade came by with many characters coming by and high fiveing my girls. At the end of the show my four year old daughter said, " Mommy, I like that Magic." Hooked......you better believe it.

What great stories
Mine was about 4 years ago when I was at DTD. I was shopping with my mother-n-law at the big disney store. There was a girl who was about 5 years old in a wheel chair and she was picking up a snow globe. Her mother had told her to put the snow globe down that it had cost too much money. The girl put the snow globe down and then a man that they did not know handed the little girl in the wheelchair a $100 bill and told her to buy that snow globe. The man just walked away and the mom started crying. There was not a dry eye in the area. That to me is what Disney is all about--pure magic!!!

We were in Disney just last month. My DD has a beautiful mural that my friend did in her room of Alice in Wonderland. Her room looks amazing. When we were at the Tea Cup we saw Alice outside and took the kids over to meet her. DD told Alice about her room, and Alice invited DD and DS for a Tea Cup ride with her. It was amazing, the kids chatted with her, and had a wonderful ride. It was the highlight of the trip!

Like other posters, I have several, but the one that probably stands out in my mind the most goes way back.....to 1983. My children were small, DD (4) and DS (3 months) and we were at DL. Back then, characters roamed the park much more randomly than today and there really wasn't an area to go for a character meet and greet. Minnie Mouse was out and about and DD was waving frantically and calling her name. Minnie came over and hugged DD then bent down to peek in the stroller at DS. DS wasn't quite sure what to make of all of this but from behind his binky...sudden an enormous smile and the binky popped out of his mouth. Minnie knelt down and spent what seemed like hours with DS, but with an arm around DD so she wouldn't feel left out. Minnie would frequently turn to DD and give her a kiss on the cheek and a gentle hug. It truly was a Kodak moment (as total strangers were snapping pics left and right) and other families in the area were holding their children back and letting Minnie share this moment with my children. When Minnie needed to move on, she gave DD a big hug and kiss and ever so gently replaced DS's binky.

It truly was a magical moment for us...to this day when I think about it I get all teary eyed. I'd always loved Minnie anyway, but that day...well, she firmly planted herself as my all-time fave.

My parents took me to WDW for the first time when I was 4. I was beyond obsessed with Snow White; I met her and told her all about my SW-themed room (and I was wearing a SW dress at the time), and warned her to be careful about the apples she eats from then on.

I feel like I've been sprinkled with pixie dust when I see the signs as we drive onto the property...Wishes and Fantasmic!, of course, are tear-jerkers...and leaving is the most unbearable feeling. When we drive away, we play the Mickey Mouse Club March song, and sing the end: "Now it's time to say goodbye, to all our company. M-I-C, see ya real soon. K-E-Y, why? because we like you! M-O-U-S-E."

Gahh, the lyrics make me well up!

I'm pretty sure I'll be emotional going without my parents in January - not because I lost them (they're going in December when I'll be in school!) but because they add to the magic. :tink:

Mine happened in my late july trip. I came to be friends with many great CMs but formed a close bond with a few in particular. One of which, Sarah, was one of them. On my last night, after riding Peter Pan's Flight for the last time, she walked me toward Pinnochio's Village Haus, and gave me a big hug, and started saying how much she would miss me, and I said the same. I started crying . I was so sad to leave all my friends, but this was an extra sprinkle of pixie dust. :tink: I hope she gets in touch soon and is safe and happy back at home.

Hi,

I have tears running down my face , but a big smile too... here's my magic moment... DD loves eeyore - can you tell?

My first triip to WDW was 5 years ago - being 100% honest I never had any inclination to visit WDW, I just didn't think it was something I would enjoy (I'm ashamed to say it now but I thought it would be tacky, plasticy and cheap looking:sad2: what was I thinking????????)

Anyway my mum wanted to give my daughter a trip to WDW for her Christmas (my mum is amazing!) - I was a wee bit resistant as although my DM was paying for DD it was still a lot of money for my share and DH couldn't get away from work. To cut a long story short we booked and went during the last week of November and as soon as we arrived at CBR I knew I had been so, so wrong.....

I had two teary moments - walking down Main Street USA towards the castle, seeing how everyone around was so happy and boyant and really feeling part of something ( does that make sense???).

The other moment was in HS ( or MGM as it was then) my DD who was 3 at the time was very afraid of any one dressed up in costume, we had had a horrible incident a few weeks before with a lady who was dressed up as a dog for a service dog charity. As we walked into HS she spotted Tigger and she started shaking with excitment -there were only 3 kids in the queue and my DM and I were looking at each other thinking should we? shouldn't we? Well we decided to queue up and were stunned when it was DD's turn she ran up to tiger and cuddled in with her eyes closed - then it dawned on me!!! To DD this wasn't someone dressed up - it WAS tigger. I was sobbing so much and so was my DM.

I owe so much to my DM - she started a love of disney which has resulted in us returning every year and experiencing our first Disney Cruise last year.

Oh My! I love these boards! My friends laugh at me when I tell them I cry when I see Main Street USA. They would really laugh at me now. I'm bawling like a baby. I don't know why some people don't get the MAGIC. I'm so thankful that I do. I'm so thankful that other people do. What a wonderful man, making that girls day like that. I'm sure he doesn't know that he is still making peoples day. That story made my day. Thanks for sharing it.:wizard:

Too many to name...

First time my youngest ran up to the characters...
My oldest son's interaction with the princesses..
Watching my boys swim in the early afternoon at AKV..
Too, too many...

I'm going to move this discussion over to the theme parks community board.

It's only 8:30am, and I've seriously gone through about a dozen tissues reading this thread.

My DH's magic moment happened in 2006. It was my DD3(at the time) first time. My mom had gone along, too, which we're thankful for now that she just passed. Anyway, we decided to take the ferry on our last night instead of the monorail. It was November and chilly, especially on the boat. My DD all of the sudden starts dancing really slowly and began singing Part of Your World. So she serenaded us all the way across the lagoon. I look over at my DH and tears are welled up in his eyes. This is a man that rarely cries. That got him.

We're big travelers, and before my DD came along, we would venture off to Europe and see real castles or whatever. So when I booked that trip, my DH says, "Well, we might as well get it over with, as we won't be doing this all the time." Then we took her again the next year. We would have gone last year had his dad not died, and then my mom got sick. And here we are again... 2 months to go!

We've had beach trips, ski trips, and we're going to Europe with our DD6 this coming spring, but I know that Disney is the place when you have a kid (or not), but if you want to see your kid light up... it's the place to be.

Mine was at the AK. My DS, then 6, and I had been playing Wack a dino trying to win the BIG one. We had already won 1 med one, the handler told us if we one another med, we could trade it in for a large one. So, we tried once more and won another med one. A father next to us said to his son, "I'm sorry son. I tried." The little boy hung his head as he walked away. My DS holding his 2nd med stuffed dino, looked up at me, and ran to catch the little boy. The look of joy on that little boy's face was priceless. And I was so proud of my son, for spreading the Disney magic. :)

Mine was on my wedding day in Disney, we went to Fulton Crab House for lunch after our wedding and I could never understand why I could not wear my wedding dress to the parks to have lunch .... this cleared it up.
I got up from the table to go to the little girls room and there was little boy who was about 5, he came running up to me and tugged on my dress, he asked if he could have his picture taken with me and what princess am I.
It was so sweet. The mom said sorry I said it was ok, he got his picture and his mom told him I was special princess.

More touching and heartwarming stories guiys I'm getting a warm feeling all inide reading about them

While I was standing in front of the Partner's statue a year ago I asked to nobody in particular "Why is it called Walt Disney World?" and a cast member said to me....

"Because a big brother loved his little brother so much, that he would do anything it took to make sure his little brother's dreams came true."

Walt died before Disney World opened, and even though Roy finished off the plans he wanted to make sure everyone knew who made it all happen and whose dream this really was.

Yes Roy helped his brother's dream become a reality this tear's me up having time I read it along with Walt quote "It all started with a mouse"

We went to WDW in Dec of 2007, there we stood in line to get an autograph with characters at Mickey's tent(Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy) we was the next to get our picture and there was this little girl with a walker, just so happy to see them. My son, who at the time was 10 , told her " it is more important if you get the picture then I do", so he let the little girl go, the characters gathered up in one photo so the Mom could get a great picture. The Mom thanked my son, he said no problem and gave her a big smile. The CM came over and told my son that since he was more interested in passing along the magic of Disney that My son got to get a picture of all the characters. I was so proud of him..

Wow an increable jeasture by your son I'm water eyed just reading about it

well crap. that did me in. *sniff* It is so nice to hear that there are still generous kind souls that do not need praise, they do things because they want to.

My story may seen a little boring but on our last trip, just a few weeks ago, we were touring the parks camando style. We were trying to get everything done to show my friend how wonderful Disney was. One morning we got to the Magic Kingdom before her and had already seen a few attractions when she sent a text that they were getting off of the bus. We decided to head down main street to meet them. Normally we walk but today we decided to take the horse & carriage down.

The lady was so sweet to share information about the horses with my kids and others that were there. Once we started to go I was looking around and you see things at a much slower pace. I noticed families taking pictures, people laughing, the beauty of the park and most of all, I felt the Disney magic for the first time on that trip. I even teared up a little while going down toward the entrance. It was like looking at a slide show or something of pictures on Main street. I am always so rush rush, but I realized how nice it was to slow down and take it all in. It will be a must do for me from now on. I know it's something simple, but it truly was magical.
