That Mickey sure is one smart cookie!! May 2011 CBR TR (update 08/13)

That's awesome about the family!!!!

If you have a credit question, best to get it sorted sooner than later. A lot of things have timing limitations ... best not let it get away! :thumbsup2

And now I think I have an idea of what you could be talking about. I'd be happy to help in whatever way I can! :goodvibes Anxious to read your new PTR! I'm excited to hear what your dates are, where you'll stay, what you'll do! Eeeee! I can't wait! :yay:

oh, nothing like that with the credit... Just can't remember how long something takes to be reflected on your credit once you pay something off.

I'm super excited about the new trip. Too long between our trips for my liking!

Happy Easter! I cant believe i missed your fall updates but am so glad i saw your updare. I got all caught up today in between cooking, church, etc.

Maya is such a beautiful little girl. I love the very serious pose where she has her make up sone but not her hair yet.

Hard to believe how fast they grow! Wait til next trip, James will be on so many more rides!

I have thoroughly enjoyed catchin up...our May trips overlapped so i know just the heat and rains you spoke of, and we dd Park Faire he same night, about an hour before you! That prince charming was so cute....he made Katie blush lol

I will be looking for updates!

nice to hear from you too!
It seems wild to think that your baby is already two! And your dd will be nine! I always thought my dad didn't know what he was talking about when he said time moves faster after you have kids. But he sure did!

I want to see your etsy pics. Are they on your PTR? I have one or two I've been looking at for a while- I may give in to one next trip. I bet she will be so excited for the Rapunzel dress it's the little things right? I can't wait to hear about her bbb experience! Maya felt so special- I'm sure your dd will too

I haven’t put pictures of the dresses up yet. I’m waiting for one more thing I ordered from ebay over the weekend and then I plan to put pictures up of all of the big and little extras I have ordered for the trip. Dd wanted one of those Minnie Mouse pillow case dresses for Chef Mickey’s. On etsy they were a little more than I wanted to pay and , when you figure in an additional $5.00 most would charge to get it in a size 8, and shipping I’d be looking at $40. I already splurged big time on the princess dresses. Decided to check ebay and I found one on there she liked available in her size for $20 plus shipping and the lady will even stitch her name into it.

We have quite a pile going between the stuff I ordered and the stuff I pulled out that we didn’t use on our first trip. I like to do this though to limit the souvenir shopping on the trip. I make a deal with dd that she can’t buy anything over a certain price, or anything we have or anything we can get at home. Between what we bring, the price limit and the fact that we have a Disney Store in one of our local malls, pretty much everything she sees there is eliminated. They usually each come home with one thing.

Yes, they are growing up fast and it does sometimes feel like someone hit the fast forward button on them. Got swim wear over the weekend and was reminded just how much she is growing up. Trying to find the right thing that was cute, that she liked, was reasonably priced and covered what I want covered (and would continue to no matter how wet it got) has been an adventure. She has long had an opinion on what she wears, but now it’s on steroids. And that was one. I like for them each to have two.

With ds, we went out, he yelled “Cars! Cars!” when he saw Lightening McQueen swim trunks and that was it. Picked out a matching rash guard and he was happy. I then picked up a plain navy and white striped pair and a navy rash guard. Was done in 5 minutes. And that is how it is with him. With her now, everything requires a trip to the fitting room first.

I'm enjoying having her input on the upcoming trip though. Even looking through DISigns for t-shirts and talking about each day, it's nice. I hope to get our countdown chain up soon too.

I'll never be bored with these two that is for sure.

Awe, shucks. so sweet words! They do grow fast! James is so close to 40". He has not grown in a while. I'm really hoping for an extra half inch soon. Otherwise, he may be in that dreaded hope the tennis shoes are tall enough position.

he was a cute prince! we both had nice timing to get out of the rain and crowds! i looked back on touring plans- they had that day listed as a 9 at MK- can't believe it. the rain did wonders for the crowd that afternoon. You are on my list for your anniversary PTR- i'm a bit behind but will be over there soon! Hope Katie is doing well!

Your last statement is so true! You never know want to expect out of them do you!

we are approaching the same thing- where we really should try on things first. she fights me hard on that though. luckily I've found a brand i really like that is really forgiving and 9 out of 10 things fit well without trying them on. i can usually alter the straps of throw a tank under the 10th thing and be okay.

i like your idea of nothing we can get at home... i always give her a set amount and pray that she picks small things :rotfl:

can't wait to see your dresses. sounds like you got a great deal!

I got a cat in the hat pillowcase dress off etsy for $24 shipped I believe. And she did it so fast too. I was so lucky that it all worked out perfectly.

There is this dress I've been staring at for a couple years on etsy. The thing I like about it is it's plenty fancy for most occasions, yet you wouldn't look out of place wearing it to the grocery store. She does a few, but my favorite is belle. She gathers them on the side to remind you of a ball type gown and uses the apron to really make you think of the character she is portraying. I'll have to find a picture. But it is like $50+ dollars and I haven't talked myself into it yet.

Eta: Jen, that was supposed to quote your last post.

I could spend hours in WOD. But I moved quickly. I didn't want my husband to tire of shopping in the first store. I knew I wanted something for my kitchen that was obviously Disney but didn't scream it. I found a silver colored trivet/pot holder. I think it was 10.95?

DSCN1971.jpg

This keychain was rather expensive- $8.00. But last trip I passed on them because of the cost, so I figured if I'd wanted it for two years it was worth the extra bucks. (and i loved it dearly for two months until it broke)

DSCN2025.jpg

I also got a Pooh magnet for the fridge $5? - the princess ones were taking over.

DSCN2016.jpg

I also picked up a toy Disney Bus to give to James at a later date. I think it was around $6.

DSCN2076.jpg

And with his money, James picked out a pirate Mickey playset- boat, figures etc- for around $20

Once again, there were no Rapunzel figures. I really thought they'd be here. I was feeling mighty guilty for making Maya pass up the open set the other day. Maya really wanted this tiny Candice plush for $16- until she realized that if she got it she wouldn't have enough money left for the Rapunzel figures if she found them. (I happened upon something similar at the Disney Store last week and will give it her for her birthday in July)

The store was getting really busy- we were actually kind of glad to be done on there. I sent these packages back to the resort. I LOVE this!

By this point, I needed to have a little break. DTD doesn't have DSA's. I was told anywhere was fine as long as it was away from the buildings. I sent my family to play at the Lego store while I found a spot away from the crowds and got my fix.

DSCN1045.jpg

DSCN1046.jpg

When I was done, I scanned the outdoor play area for my kids. Not there. So I looked inside. Not there. Maybe they had taken a restroom break and I beat them? This routine went on about 5 more times. I tried Chris' cell and it went straight to voicemail. Of course it was dead when I needed it! I was starting to get worried and sure my husband would have an earful for me.

Finally I heard "where have you been?" They had been sitting at the inside play area the whole time! No telling how many times I walked past them. Luckily chris had been just as involved in building as they were, so he didn't mind the wait!

DSCN1049.jpg

DSCN1050.jpg

DSCN1051.jpg

Finally the Lego houses were built and the yards groomed with flowers. We were having so much fun I decided to buy a large Pick A Cup to go with our basic legos at home. Maya helped me pick out all the tiny interesting pieces. We stayed away from anything normal as best we could.

DSCN2031.jpg

(I waited to unpack these at home until everyone else was in bed. Lesson learned- let someone who knows way they are doing do the picking. For Example-14 wheels, five centers. So I can make 5 tires and have 9 wheels left over.:lmao:)

Here is what I made from our stash. I have no idea what to do with the rest)

DSCN2155.jpg

and the leftovers

DSCN2152.jpg

It was prime lunchtime now, and we were getting hungry. The line was long at Earls, and I was afraid we would not be done in time for our next scheduled event. We decided to do some more shopping instead. DARN!

My feet were still stuck to my shoes. Thank goodness for ibuprofen, or I'd probably have sat in the room.

The Rapunzel figures were still eluded us, so next we went in Once Upon a Toy. No luck there either- but Maya did find a set of Jessie and Woody action figures. 7.95?

I suddenly got this feeling that maybe the bobblehead I got my nephew was a duplicate. He's also been into comic books lately, so I picked up a couple of Mickey ones 3.99. I figured I'd give him those if he had the bobblehead, and if not save them for his birthday.

DSCN1728.jpg

DSCN1725.jpg

I also had been looking for a gender neutral baby gift. (my brother and his wife are pregnant with their first!) As some of you may know- this is not an easy task. I saw tons of girlie things or boy things I wanted through the trip. Almost everything made me think if one gender or the other. I ended up settling on a Mickey stacker for $9.95

DSCN1730.jpg

Off topic for a minute- They had a girl! Maya is the only girl on that side of the family, so we are excited! She is such a sweet baby! They are still a relatively new couple though. It's going to be tough- I know from experience that it's hard to be a "new" couple and deal with being new parents. I think that they can handle it though.

Ok, back to task. I'm secretly planning on having a Disney Christmas tree one day. I'm not thinking Chris will go for it if I outright ask. So each year we each get a Disney ornament in our stocking. Of course, if we are at Disney we have to get one too! The boys and the girls split up to pick some out. Maya chose Ariel for her little pink tree. It was about $15.

arielornamentsimilar.jpg

similar to this but glass (aka already broken)

James and Chris finally met me at the register. Chris had not had much fun.

"He can't make up his mind and he won't take his sunglasses off. I just ended up picking one out for him so he wouldn't break something."

Maya looked at James and said

"James, you don't need your sunglasses in the store. You're not blond!" :rotfl2:

He ended up with a lightning McQueen for his little blue tree.

I picked out a silver one with spinning Mickey Heads. You could get it engraved, or they had some already done. I chose one that said Disney World 2011. When we got to the register, the CM told me it was $3.00/ word. If it was posted anywhere, I missed it. I quickly changed it to one that just said 2011. I'm certain I'll remember where I got it without paying $6 more dollars. I shipped these to the resort too.

my2011ornament.jpg

It was now almost 2:00. Time to head back to World of Disney so our Princess could be in the parade!

Welcome back Lauren! I am just now able to catch up on all of my favorite trip reports, glad to see I wasn't the only one on a Dis-break. ;) I have had you on my mind lately, I think I owe you a planning spreadsheet. The more I have thought about it, you may have talked me into doing my first PTR and TR.....I am nervous though! I am not a great writer, and we leave in about 5 weeks. With my new job, I am afraid that I won't be able to post timely....but I may give it a shot! :scared1:

Love the the updates. Maya and James are getting so big! Maya makes such a beautiful princess, she really looks so much like you! I LOVE James's new bike, isn't it great when the Disney gene/bug just happens and you don't have to sway the kids to pick the Disney stuff! :rotfl:

I see that you have another trip planned for the fall, I am so jealous, I want to do a fall trip so badly!

:surfweb: Alright.....waiting for the next post!

Hi Kelly! I'm jealous of your spring trip!
Is your new job the one you were telling me about or was that your old job?

I'm not a great writer either, but i think the reports are fabulous keepsakes! i can't wait to read yours! you probably have most of the PTR info already in the form of one spreadsheet or another. add a few pictures of your cute boys and you've got a great start!

i didn't want to take a DIS break- but i'll tell you, kindy is kicking my rear! I'm not a morning person. I went from leaving the house at 8:40 to leaving at 6:50. i don't get home any earlier and i only go to bed about 30 minutes early. I'm tempted to move to C'ville just so school can start an hour later :lmao:

When we left off, we were on our way to the Princess Parade

It seemed that we waited a long while for more girls to show up. Then FGIT's spent about 5 minutes teaching the princess wave and kiss. James was quite bored with the whole process.

DSCN1059.jpg

The girls all grabbed a spot on the preschool type rope and paraded down the walk.

DSCN1053.jpg

DSCN1055.jpg

DSCN1061.jpg

DSCN1063.jpg

DSCN1064.jpg

DSCN1067.jpg

I tried to take a million pictures- but there was one of those moms. You know the one. She jumps in front of everything and everyone, as if her child is the only one there. The girls recieved tons of attention. CM's and shoppers lined the street to wave and clap. Finally we rounded the corner and took a group photo. I was quite over the mom at that point, and didn't even bother to gripe that my daughter was hidden behind a poof of hair. :headache:

DSCN1070.jpg

There was a photopass photographer, and you could go to guest relations in an hour and pick your child out of the parade photos and have them loaded to your photopass. We never did go back and add them to our photopass. We needed to move on with our day. And to be honest, it just seemed like it would be a process for a couple pictures that would probably be similar to those I took.

By this point, we were starved. The line at Earl's was a little shorter than it had been earlier, still long. Luckily it moved quickly.

Maya was dead set on getting a meatball sandwich. That girl has never liked meatballs. And she's never had that sandwich before. So I'm still curious as to where that idea came from because she hasn't mentioned one since. Chris decided to get one so she could taste it, and he took them to find a seat. I picked out two sides- a cup of potato salad and a bag of chips. I used a snack credit for the potato salad. I paid for the chips, because they were only $1, along with James sandwich. ($6)

DSCN1074.jpg

Our stomachs were growling. My kids had long last their patience. It was close to 3pm by now.

DSCN1077.jpg

We sampled our sides while we were waiting on our buzzer to go off. (The potato salad was not the uber creamy kind we are used to around here-not our taste). The chips were polished and we were about to dig into dessert when our buzzer finally rang.

Chris ordered the meatball. Maya tasted it and said "mmmmm". He asked if she wanted more and with no hesitation said no thanks!

We ate at Earl's twice last trip, but somehow Chris didnt eat either time. After his first Earl's experience, he didn't get the hype, why it merited such long lines. He's going to give it another try next trip, and test a sandwich that he would normally order before forming his opinion. I, on the other hand, loved it once again.

Neither one of my kids can pass up melted ooey gooey cheese. Maya chose the traditional grilled cheese, while James chose the pizza sandwich.

We all dug in way to quickly to remember to take pictures , but here's one from our last trip. I had the same thing this time-

COBB WRAP
Grilled Chicken, Smoked Bacon, Swiss & Cheddar Cheese, Field Greens & Romaine, Roma Tomato, Cucumber, Cranberries & Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

IMG_3150.jpg

excuse the mess- it was so full it was falling out of the flatbread

Maya picked a jello for us to share for dessert, and I picked a brownie sandwich. That brownie was cut in half an had frosting in the center yum! Another of my favorite counter service desserts! I'll be trying this one again! In fact, i saw this covered on a Disney Blog recently. You actually have three choices for the filling- vanilla, chocolate, or peanut butter. so good!

DSCN1076.jpg

With stomachs full, we headed towards the bus stop. Chris was concerned that I had not bought anything much for myself. He was confused as to why I was using our gift cards on meals etc instead of me. That's what I wanted them for, to keep from spending my own money.

We walked around the building so Maya could take a picture at the Christmas spot. Chris was quite ready to go though, so we were really quick about it.

DSCN1086.jpg

DSCN1083.jpg

This was the first time we had been to the bus stop at DTD. It's quite different from those at the resorts. Both the seating and sun cover are minimal at best. My sticky feet were hurting, and they were much more tolerable with movement or seating.

We had just missed a bus to the Boardwalk Resort, but another one came in about 10 minutes. We were going to grab a friendship boat and head over to Epcot to catch a couple of the characters out for the Pixar Anniversary.

.

So on to the Pixar Anniversary event at Epcot.

The bus ride from DTD to Boardwalk was a bit lengthy, but enjoyable. We dropped passengers at many of the resorts we had never seen before- Swan, Dolphin, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk. One day, I'd like to stop and tour this route! But not today, because both kids had fallen asleep!

DSCN1088.jpg

DSCN1089.jpg

Pixar or Bust, huh?

We made it to the Boardwalk and managed to get the kids off the bus without waking them up. It was 4:50 though, much later than I had hoped to be arriving. Our dinner ADR was on the Boardwalk, so by the time we transferred to Epcot and made our way to Pixar headquarters, we'd have only a little over an hour. We were certain the lines for the special characters would be at least that long. Chris wasn't really feelin it today, and my feet were still hurting. It was time for a new plan.

When Chris and I go on our kid free Food and Wine trip someday, it's going to be hard to pick an Epcot resort! Stormalong bay is quite appealing, but so is Boardwalk! Chris even remarked that he wished we had stayed there!

DSCN1091.jpg

It wasn't hard to find our way outside. James was still asleep, so it was time to share my backup plan. I figured after all that Chris had put up with this week, without complaining, it was time to do something for him.

"The Grizzlies should be about to start the second half of the playoff game- let's go to ESPN and wait for James to wake up."

DSCN1092.jpg

We grabbed a table near the tvs. (ever pushed a stroller into a bar? It's sort of an odd feeling :lmao:.

DSCN1097.jpg

Chris ordered a beer. It was hot, and I decided that the only thing that sounded good was a strawberry daquori. Surely Maya was hot too, so I figured she'd like a virgin one. It was refreshing and cool, but once I got it is just wasn't what I wanted. I had no idea what I did want though, so I just sipped on it. Surprisingly, Maya didn't like hers at all. She ate the whip cream and cherries and was done. I kept asking her if she liked it, and she'd say, yes, it's fine. I think she felt like a big girl sitting in there socailizing and watching the game with mommy and daddy. Maybe she was afraid if she said she didn't like it she'd rock the boat?

DSCN1099.jpg

Chris ordered a second beer and I ordered a sprite for James once he woke up. He was starting to wiggle. The grizzlies were playing horribly though- which could potentially change the mood of my husband for the rest of the day. For that very reason, I didn't argue when he suggested we settle up.

I left him to pay and went outside to call Disney Dining. Our dinner ADR was for 7:50, and it was now just after 6:00. Not enough time to go and wander the Pixar event, but too long to hang out at the boardwalk when none of the evening entertainment had begun yet. I requested an earlier ADR. They had one for 6:45, but she couldn't reserve it because it was within the hour. There was also one for 7:20- we took that one. It wasn't as early as we'd hoped but it would help some.

The fact that we had beautiful scenery next to us did not go unnoticed. I asked Maya if she'd like to do a fashion shoot and she happily obliged! At home, she hates having to try on clothes. But if I ask her to do a fashion shoot and pull out the camera she'll go for hours! She comes up with the oddest poses, most of them involving sticking her butt out or something along the line of an incredibles look.

She posed normally for me today though.

DSCN1110.jpg

Mostly.

DSCN1103.jpg

DSCN1105.jpg

James woke up at this point, and he wanted in on the action.

DSCN1112.jpg

DSCN1113.jpg

Then the kids discovered the photo booth. They climbed in and begged for photos. Neither of us had any cash, so I took our own with my camera.

DSCN1094.jpg

DSCN1119.jpg

DSCN1120.jpg

DSCN1122.jpg

We decided to walk the boardwalk and just take in the sights. The bakery and the pizza shop both smelled amazing. If it wasn't for the great dinner coming up, we surely would have stopped.

James was tired of the stroller, so we let him out. He found endless fun in pushing it. thankfully it wasn't busy, because he pushed as crooked as Maya drove the Speedway.

Girl, I am so ready, it has been 2 years! I am dying to go! My new job is the one I was telling you about. It has been crazy from day one, literally!

I am hoping that I follow through with the TR so that I do have a keepsake. But a 2 year break has also got me thinking that I want to do a video TR (inspired by a few on here) a photo book, and I also wanted to have family portraits taken this time! I have given up on the family pics, but hoping that I at least end up finishing one of the three; TR, photo book, or video.....we will see!

I totally understand about K kicking your butt, just wait until next year when they really start piling on the homework! I get up at 6, leave about 7:45, and then don't get back home until 6 or 7. Then, dinner, hang out with the fam, and my school. (Working on finishing my degree) Crazy days lately, but the Dis is my break.

Are ya'll really considering moving? We are in Oakland right now :sad1: but, are considering a move to Arlington.

Love the last update, sorry Miss Pouffy hair blocked Maya, but I am sure she loved being in the princess parade! My boys loved ESPN, but what a stinker for the Grizz to be losing while you are there! I agree with Chris, time to jet!

Girl, I am so ready, it has been 2 years! I am dying to go! My new job is the one I was telling you about. It has been crazy from day one, literally!

i understand completely!

I am hoping that I follow through with the TR so that I do have a keepsake. But a 2 year break has also got me thinking that I want to do a video TR (inspired by a few on here) a photo book, and I also wanted to have family portraits taken this time! I have given up on the family pics, but hoping that I at least end up finishing one of the three; TR, photo book, or video.....we will see!

if you take video, you will take pictures too, you can always make a photo book a year down the road if you want. i think the video sounds neat because it will be special to have all the baby nooises and little kid voices to cherish later.

I totally understand about K kicking your butt, just wait until next year when they really start piling on the homework! I get up at 6, leave about 7:45, and then don't get back home until 6 or 7. that's what scares me. she doesnt have much homework now- she has worksheets, plus reading and math on the computer every night. honestly less than 30 minutes if she stays focused. and by the time we get home at 6:30, dinner, baths, homework, its a fight to get her in bed by 9 and she really needs to be in bed earlier to get up at 6.its even harder the 2 nights chris is home because she wants to play with him. i didn't realize you were in school now too. when do you sleep?

we are by the Colonial Target now. i don't plan on moving to Collierville unless i don't have to work. i would pull my hair out to have to drive nonconnah twice a day. that road stresses me to no end. some day we will move to Florida though...

it was a play off game. made it extra crummy! i was really glad we stopped there though. we had put off lunch so late that we were at the point where it wouldn't take much to get an attitude and ruin the rest of the day. taking a cool breather was just what we needed. i'm sad that our next trip will be shorter and we wont be able to fit in a "break" day like that one was supposed to be.

I love your TR your kids are so adorable! :goodvibes Your TR is making me anxious to see the World again. We aren't leaving until August though.
