Anyone else trying to get rid of the last 20 lbs? The first 20 flew off but the last 20 seems determined to stay forever! I have a cruise coming up in May & am really trying to kick it up a notch in the next couple of months. :)

I have a little more than that MM. But I just wanted to post and was wondering if you ever do interval training. I find when I do that there is a definite shift. It's worth a try.

I have two different programs. One is a WU, then small amount of stretching, then 3 minutes hard cardio, then a grouping of upper body weights, then 3 hard cardio, then lower body/ab weights (some pilates moves/plank etc), 3 minute hard cardio, repeat upper body weights, 3 minute hard cardio then cool down. The entire program is approximately 50 minutes. When doing intervals of this length I would suggest sticking to every other day. There are no breaks in the intervals.

The second is 2 minute intervals mixed up weight and cardio with no breaks for 50 minutes.

Obviously, I have no idea if this would make a move for you. But I suspect it will. It's pretty intense. And I heard a professional sports trainer firmly say that this type of program works best with days off. Difficult if you are used to working out everyday. Some weeks with other routines I am everyday as well. But really he suggested that intensity needs rest not more workouts.

Congratulations on on all your success.

Lisa

Thanks Lisa, I'll give that a try! I just want to be a goal before my cruise! :)

Do let me know what works. That "WU" was aerobic warm up for about 5-8 minutes; I just read over my post:lmao: .

Also, it might not show on the scale at first. But I find it really shows in my clothes/body. Also, with that amount of work you tend to feel like a warrior. Which I enjoy. ;)

A cruise. So nice. Disney?

I am waiting for the first 20 to fly off! lol :rotfl2:

I've been working on the last 20lbs since about October. I've been steadily losing 2-3lbs a month, which is fine. Now, depending on my mood, I have between 7-10 lbs or so that I still would like to lose. My original goal was to do it by my birthday, in February. Now, since I did so well last summer, if I still have any to go in June, I'll really increase my effort. I had to slow down my weight loss because I had some increased hair loss when I was losing 10 lbs a month. At 2-3 lbs per month, I feel well, no hair loss, and I think I can maintain my equilibrium. I could be frustrated if I allowed myself to be, but, I am noticing improved toning of my muscles and improved output with my cardovascular program, so, I am satisfied and patient.

I am right with you...20 pounds to go (though at this point I will take 15!) and I have been on a plateau for over 4 weeks now. I am frustrated beyond words. I have stepped up my work-outs, am changing things up, am staying on my food program, am drinking my water...everything! And not even one little ounce has come off!

I will say that my body is firming up and my clothes are fitting more loosely, but as far as the scale...nada. :sad2: Like you, I really want it off for the summer (though I don't have a cruise coming up, you lucky dog!), but we boat all summer long and I just don't want to be self-conscious on the docks and marina all summer, etc. I am DONE being heavy!

If you have success, please post here and I will do the same. :goodvibes

Yes, this is a great program and you have to take days off in between. On those days, I run.

I've been so close then find myself giving up b/c it has taken so long.

I've found that by changing my w/o routine a bit makes a difference. Another big difference is that I've split my meals in 2 trying to eat the portions in 6 meals as opposed to 3. (It's not always conveneint, but I try.) That helps me in many ways. Keeping the consumption to smaller portions has certainly eased the reflux problems I have and I do find that I feel better all around when I can do this.

I'm back to journaling everything to make sure what I am eating is a healthier choice and I am trying to change the choices to give my old body something different and nutritious.

Keep on keepin' on!

:cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm with you! I lost 25 pounds pretty easily over about 2.5 months in late 2003. Then I stopped losing, and I have since gained it all back. :( Here's hoping the next time it comes off - it will stay off.

Just a word of caution. Do not worry too much about what the scale says when you are down to your last 10 - 20 pounds. It sounds to me like your program is working in that you are putting on muscle and losing fat. The scale may not show a weight loss and unfortunately it does not tell you about fat loss or muscle gain. Try not to get frustrated if your weight remains the same as long as you see and feel a difference in your body.

I am in the last 20 pounds and have reached a road block. I am not giving up but it just seems so hard to get things moving again.

Thanks for ther encouragement & ideas! It helps to know I am not the only one suffering through the lasy 20lbs. I have 60 days until my cruise so I am really busting hiney now. I bought a cute little size 8 formal dress that I can get on, but it will look so much better if it would hang smoothly if you know what I mean. :)
