So just got back from a lovely trip with the Family. Low Crowds except for 9/5 and 9/6 (even that was relatively low). High humidity but we knew that going in. Anyway, we are at Epcot on Friday the 4th in the morning. We've done Soarin and TT and its about 10 am and headed to space ship earth, we had a fast pass, I was sure we wouldn't need but made it anyway just in case. So we head to the FP+ line and the standby says 10 minutes but the line is really short.
A woman and her family are standing at the FP+ check-in and is screaming and cussing about how she cant take this ineptitude anymore! Her Mother (Grandma of the kids standing with crazy yelling mom) is standing just inside the FP+ line screaming for them to get a manager. And she is cussing up a blue streak too. They are literally yelling and cussing non stop at the CMs and the poor CMs are trying to send them to Guest Services or something and gosh love them are keeping their cool although one poor young guy with an "earning my ears" ribbon under his name tag is turning beat red and looks like he could hide.

Meanwhile my family walks in standby goes straight through in like 3 minutes. Seriously the two of them were cussing out the CMs for longer than what it would have been to walk right on this ride! It was so ridiculous I couldn't stop from laughing even though I felt horrible for the CMs.

God bless the CMs that have the patience to put up with those kinds of guests!!

I'd be laughing, too. It's schadenfreude to see them wasting their time like that! Some people are definitely their own worst enemies. But that's still no excuse for taking it out on the CM! Or the cashier. Bank clerk. Waiter. Whomever happens to be the face at the desk, when something doesn't go your way.

Times like this, I sometimes drop a quiet word of sympathy in the poor abused service person's ear. And maybe point them toward notalwaysright.com! ;)

wow what were they yelling about that they could not go in the FP line

best guess is that their fast passes didnt show up

If that was the case, a clever and savvy CM would have said, "Not to worry, folks, step right this way…"
and sent them on up the ramp.

;)

I'm sure that wasn't the case! ;) You should be a CM robo!

Yeah it doesnt make sense to me either but then again I dont know why somebody is cussing a blue streak in front of the FP+ check-in with no line. Couldn't quite figure out exactly what had set it off but it was crazytown:tongue:. Im with you Robo pretty easy to diffuse if that was the situation. CMs were trying to send them away and they weren't budging! Grandma literally said "heads will roll" I think that's when I laughed outloud all the way up that very ramp...

I've noticed in the last year or so that Disney doesn't seem to "give in" as easily when people are being complete....ummm, yeah, that. Maybe they've finally realized that by rewarding this kind of misbehavior you're just asking other idiots to do the same. I have seen several times when a guest is yelling at a CM and that CM is not giving an inch. And then later I'll see people with a similar gripe but being polite but firm, looking for a mutual solution type of scenario, and the CMs give them a lot more latitude. I'm actually very glad to see it, because I've read on FB groups and forums people practically bragging about being a pain and getting their way, and you just know that some people reading it are thinking "oh ok, I'll just yell and then I'll get something free too". Ugh.

My kids learned at a VERY young age that temper tantrums didn't get them anywhere.....apparently some people didn't learn that lesson.

Of course, in the above scenario, simply sending them to the short standby line would have been a good solution since it was short....but that doesn't happen very often.

I agree. I hear all the time how "I complained and they let me in the line" or whatever it happens to be at the time. It would be a regular line if word spread that you can just walk on with a complaint.
