Just a reminder for those you driving and/or flying anywhere this weekend.

This is the heaviest travel period in the US. Give yourself extra time at the airport or on the roads! (And if you are flying, pack your patience, lately flying brings out the worst in some people).

You may need extra time for security at the airports and if you are transporting gifts, don't put valuables in your checked luggage and don't wrap the gifts in your carry on.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

I agree.

Be prepared as you are getting ready to go through the screeners. Have your boarding pass in your hand. Be aware that you need to empty the change out of your pockets, your belt may set off the detector so take it off, if you have a computer be prepared to take it out of the case. Anything you think will set off the detector take it off. Keep the jokes at home. Most TSA agents have no sense of humor when it comes to security.

Allow extra time at the airport so you aren't stressed or miss your flights.

Happy Thanksgiving. :)

Another idea. When you and the family dress.... the jean top with metal buttons is not a good idea.. (or any metal decorated item that you don't want to take off as you walk through the line) Boots are not really a good idea. You will probably have to take your shoes off and strugging to drag off boots is not good. (And there is always the story of my hairdresser whose feet swelled... it took two men to pull the boots off of her LOL!)

At my airport they have REALLY clamped down on carry on luggage. So if you have more then the two pieces or one of them is questionable in size you could easily be sent back to the counter to check them and then you will have to get back in line! (We have apparently hired the SS as the people who check IDs and luggage here in Nashville, Rude does not begin to describe them!)

That's too bad! Here in Chicago and the other airports I've been to, all the TSA people have been really nice!

No matter what, always be polite to the TSA people and all airline/airport personel. No matter how "wrong" they may be, or how rude, at the end of the day, they are the ones that determine if you get to fly or not. Keep your voice low and level, do not lose your temper! It's better to let them be "right" and suck it up, than yell at them and find yourself walking home!

The ID checkers in Nashville are NOT TSA employees. They are a contract agency.

I am not sure what happened. It used to be very easy to get thru Security, but thanks to the ID check from you know where it now takes forever. Did you know that in the 10 years since I had a DL photo I have changed my hair style. That apparently is a sin. This guy hold my ID to my face and says... "NEXT TIME WEAR YOUR HAIR THE WAY IT IS IN THE PHOTO!" He also suggested I get a smaller computer bag. HUH?

If you are driving home the Sunday after Thanksgiving, be prepared for slow driving on the interstate!!!

We never broke 40MPH on I-75N leaving Orlando a couple of years ago. It took us 14 hours to get from Ocala to North Alabama.

It usually only takes us about 11 hours to get from Orlando to North Alabama, but fortunately we had driven to Ocala on Saturday night.

And depending on where you are located, be careful driving and/or flying in the weather! Here in Chicago, they are predicting snow just in time for my flight out tomorrow. Oh well, at least ATA is still around so we'll have a flight, even if it's delayed.
