Thanksgiving Thoughts

Hello! My mom and I decided very last minute that we are going to head down to WDW for Thanksgiving. I'm recently divorced and my babies will be with their father this Thanksgiving, so why not spend my first holiday alone at the happiest place on earth, right? :) We only live a couple hours north and have APs, but we've never been around Thanksgiving - or any holiday!

For those with experience, if we decide on a traditional Thanksgiving meal 'Disney-style', where would you recommend? Or should we stick to a non-holiday feast elsewhere? I know my choices may be limited to ADRs I can pick up last minute, but I've always had pretty good luck in the past with last minute ADRs, especially since it's just the two of us and no time constraints!

We aren't sure which park we will be visiting yet, leaning towards Epcot and/or HS or Disney Springs...so I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Thank you! :lovestruc

Availability is going to be limited this late. If you go to the WDW site and type in Thanksgiving 2015 into the search bar you'll get a list of restaurants serving a Thanksgiving dinner. Also, I believe Sunshine Seasons at Epcot will be serving a CS Thanksgiving dinner.

I would take some time on MDE and see what's available at this point so you have a clue. At least you will know what is NOT available.

Food courts sometimes have a very good traditional turkey dinner on TG with no ressies required. We ate at the contemporary one year and loved it!

Yes, years ago, had a great turkey dinner at ASMO food court surprisingly. We actually had an ADR for LTT but decided to cancel and go back to resort because we had enough of the crowds. Have a slightly better plan this time around

We are going to Captain's Grille for brunch which will include turkey and ham. Last year we ate at Trail's End, which was terrific but the parking lot was really crowded and we had to go to Wilderness Lodge and take the bus over, which did not make me happy!!

I'd go for a unique WDW eatery, you can have a turkey dinner at home any old time. :earsboy:

1) Many people park at MK and take the boat ride to FW.
2) As far as a crowded parking lot at The Fort
. . . campsites are only permitted one vehicle to be parked, besides the RV
. . . we have lots of campers with extra vehicles or just extra-long vehicles that have to park in the lot
. . . we have many other guests simply coming to the resort to look around or eat
. . . this is our third busiest week of the year at The Fort (behind Christmas Week and Halloween Week)

Go to the Fountain at the Dolphin. I don't know what they have for a Thanksgiving dinner, but that Apple Pie Sundae is all I'd need to celebrate Thanksgiving - whole slice of apple pie right in the middle of the sundae!!
