Remember to start defrosting your turkeys! It can take 2-3 days to fully defrost. :cold:

That is all. Please return to your previous DIS thread already in progress.

bumping for the morning crowd. This is your last chance to get it out of the freezer and having a shot at getting it thawed in time!

Do you know where your frozen turkey is? ;)

Excellent reminder! People often get so caught up in worrying about the side dishes; getting the house cleaned; and such that they totally forget to thaw the turkey! :thumbsup2

I'm a baaaadddd person. I don't thaw in the fridge. I put frozen Tom (still in package) in the sink all day on Wednesday (turning every 1/2 hour and changing water every couple of hours).

It's not Thanksgiving in our house if you're not working around a frozen turkey in the kitchen sink! :rotfl2: Fortunately, I have a double sink....

That's the only other way to do it and not make everyone sick. Alton Brown (Food Network) says you can thaw an average sized turkey in about 8 hours this way.

But still, the easiest thing is to put it in your fridge to thaw a few days ahead of time, so I thought I'd post a reminder. You know all across the country on T-day morning, there are a few cooks that wake up to the horror that the turkey is still in the freezer!

I bought my frozen turkey on Saturday and immediately put it in the fridge. As of today it's still probably 90% frozen. It's only VERY slightly soft on the surface. I won't be cooking this one on Thursday, probably Fri or Sat. I'm hoping that it thaws out a little quicker!!! LOL

I took turkey out Sunday. Do have clue if be cook Thursday or not. If not I am try cook the turkey Sunday if feeling better from the pneumonia.

We did that last year. Spent most of Wed night doing the water bath to get it the rest of the way unfrozen. This year, we put the 24 lb in the fridge thats in the garage, which we keep at a colder temp, Thursday night. Seems to be all about unfrozen.

A heartfelt THANK YOU for saving my Thanksgiving. :) DF also thanks you, he just doesnt know it yet!\:scared1:

I have a 7.5 lb turkey breast, what is the best way to defrost it? Is it too late to put it in the fridge?

TY! It is in the fridge now.If it is too frozen Wed night I will try the sink!

I brine ours bagged in an ice chest outdoors as long as it isn't below freezing. I just put in enough ice in the bath to keep the water at about 45F.

I always time buying it, and it never even goes near the fridge or freezer; I just don't have the space there.
