Not to complain (I am blessed), however, a born procrastinator. :dance3:

Anyone else sick of cleaning, shopping, planning & cooking for Thanksgiving, here's the spot for you.... check in here please!

Running out of things to do in lieu of actually being productive...loafing here is #1 in my book, any other ideas?
.

So I guess this wouldn't really be the place to tell you that I had an early Thanksgiving with my children last weekend , and I have already finished all the leftovers and washed and put away the turkey platter????

No, I guess not...

I haven't done a darn thing for Thanksgiving yet.

Not so much because I'm a procrastinator (although I can be)...mostly because I didn't realize it was NEXT WEEK!!!!

Iam not stressing about T-Giving because Friday morning we head to the train station to start our Disney Vacation....feed me the Turkey, I am out of here!!!!

DVCLiz Thanksgiving a week early? Still eating leftovers?;)

hiwaygirl - I thought I had another week too, how embarrassing lol.

ashaly - How cool to be @ WDW for a holiday...enjoy your trip. I've heard of people going to great lengths to avoid preparing a holiday meal...your idea is the best.:thumbsup2

I'm right there with you. So much to do. Clean, shop, bake, cook. Not much time to do it. And yet, here I sit. :rolleyes2

You've got a good excuse...someone needs to moderate us:teeth: .

I'm frying sausage for stuffing, will freeze it & pull it out on wednesday...does that count:scratchin ? Only reason is I couldn't fit it in my refrigerator with the 25 pd. turkey hogging up all the room.

Oh 99% of you do a fine job all by yourselves! :thumbsup2

Well it absolutely DOES count!!! And if you have a 25 pound turkey in your fridge, then you have been shopping! So TWO steps ahead of me!

Want to come over and do MY work? :teeth:

The girls are spending T'giving with their dad, so we had ours early. I roasted a turkey breast and did all the sides, etc. It was low-key and fun, but I did have to get organized early!!! Lunch today was the last turkey sandwich - and the dog and I shared the last few pieces from the carcass.

I'm going to have another holiday with my brother next week, so I'm sure we'll have more cooking to do, but he has told me he will do it all, so I can relax!!! Oh, but I'm taking my own ingredients for stuffing, and a sweet potato casserole I made up that was delicious, and maybe some gravy...hmmm, looks like I'll be doing some cooking after all!!

I think it's hilarious that this thread is called a "procrastinator thread" when Thanksgiving is still a week away! Do people really shop over a week ahead? I shop once a week, so my shopping will get done at the regular time - probably on Monday. I was going to start my list tomorrow though - early because of the holiday.

BethR - don't give us too much slack, we're like toddlers...soon as you turn your back we're in the cookie jar.:hyper2:

Wouldn't have that monster staring @ me everytime I open the refrigerator, except for the fact that DH decided to tag along to Sam's with me last week. Cannot believe I bought my bird @ a warehouse store, sounds downright tacky.
wink.gif

the sausage was a good idea (in theory), except that my 2 youngest sons decided it smelled delish & wolfed it down; guess I'll have to put it back on my list.

DVCLiz, I spent many a holiday shuttling my 2 older sons back & forth between families, does make for a hectic day. Now that they're older, they manage to make the trek themselves...yeah! Only a few of us eat sweet potatoes so I'm just going to make them "loaded"...baked w/lots of butter & brown sugar. The better to negate any redeeming nutritional value they may have once had.

Night all!

But disycat! For me it isn't so much about the buying the groceries, but the cleaning that I should be doing. You know, the stuff that you wait until you have company to do. (Or at least the stuff that *I* wait to do until I have company! :rolleyes2 )

I also should be making a grocery LIST for everything that I will need for next week.

Then there is the cranberry relish that I could have made by now. And the pumpkin rolls that I could have baked in and in the freezer.

I will whine and complain, and be miserable all next week because I have waited too long. But in the end, by 5 pm next Thursday the house will be presentable (probably barely) and we will end up having a delicious meal with good company. :)

The header on your post was EXACTLY how I felt on Monday of this week.

And I STILL haven't done any prep work...

I did have a request for my cranberry salad for our "work" gathering on Tuesday...so guess what I'll be doing Monday night???

Aside from the fact that I have a sleep study on Saturday night and something else going on Monday...

Anyone ever do "take out" for Thanksgiving???

I am having Thanksgiving TODAY...:lmao: Why? Because I feel like it. I can make it today and eat leftovers all weekend while we clean up for MIL arrival, she is staying here for a week.

On T-Day we are going to an relatives house for T-Day dinner.

However that won't stop me from making pies and desserts to bring and eat while I watch the Macy's parade in my jammies.:goodvibes

Wasn't so much a procrastinator, just after Mom passed away in 2002 (she always did Thanksgiving dinner), I just didn't feel up to the challenge of learning to cook a turkey, plus for one person would seem to be too much. But last year, was in the mood to give it a go. With help from Food Network, I did a Turkey breast, mashed potatoes (I make great mashers), cole slaw, gravy...home made even :bitelip: . I was really impressed. But this year not sure. I will have to make my decision by tomorrow (sat), only time I have to go shopping.

I have not gotten one thing done for Thanksgiving. My family has been taking turns being sick, and now it is my turn. I don't look forward to catching up and then having to do the extra cleaning! No shopping done either, so I am in deep trouble :guilty: . Glad to see I am not alone.

I have not done ONE THING and quite frankly I am not doing a thing until Monday...I work better under pressure.

I have my FIRST ever DIS meet on Sunday :teeth: so I am headed to that and then Monday am...hit the gym...and back to clean, clean, clean!!!! :furious:

My family is bringing most of the food, so groceries I will get on Tuesday.

Last minute needed items will be on Wed along with a Spa appt and a hair Appt. :teeth:

Thursday everyone shows UP and they are staying over through the weekend. :teeth:

Everyone that is coming is also going to Europe with us for Christmas so we will not only be eating but planning as well!!! :teeth:

I pulled out my stuffing recipe yesterday. That's it! I have to shop, clean and cook but tomorrow is my son's birthday party and I'm working Sun-Wed. Who knows when this will get done!
