As for Mac n Cheese...its a tradition in my families menu but then we have turkey and ham or roast beef on our menu too! My mom makes her mac n cheese from a buttr/cream and cheese sauce with elbow mac and bakes it in the oven then tops it with more cheese and bakes additional 10 minutes or until cheese on top browns. We all fight over who gets the "burned" cheese!
My DH is from PA. The first time he had T-Day with my family, he pulled me aside and asked where the mac and cheese was! I looked at him funny and he said his family always had it for T-Day and thought everyone else did too! On the other hand, not only had he never had greenbean caserole for T-Day, he'd never even heard of it, and around here THAT'S a staple for T-Day!
So, maybe it's a regional thing?
