Please help.

I know I've read on here that HHI offers a thanksgiving dinner, but I have called DVC AND Disney Dining and they both told me that this isn't something that can be booked.

Where oh where can I book this? Do I need to call the resort directly? :confused3

And just in case they do not have something available this year, what are some other suggestions that you've all done? I know someone also mentioned the local grocery store for a take-out meal, but I think I'd rather have someone serve me my turkey.....after all, I AM on vacation! ;)

Once you book the stay with the resort, they send you a menu of what they offer about a month beforehand. Yes, there's also a cooked dinner available from Piggly-Wiggly (I have the Email address for the guy we booked with last year). And also, last year, we discovered too late, that Signe's offered a cooked dinner, but it was only available for a party size of 2-3. I've got all the info for the options last year. Feel free to PM me if I can give you any more info. However, I wouldn't be able to review the meal from the resort (although it smelled good!) since we went with the Piggly Wiggly option.
I know that another family (also DIsers) went to a buffet dinner, I think it was at a hotel? Hopefully, she'll see this post and answer.

As Simba's Mom said, the resort will mail you information about a month in advance if you are interested in the resort dinner. However, it is NOT a dinner that is served to you. Instead, it is all delivered to your room at the time you choose, along with instructions for re-heating and serving.

We have never done the dinner, but I have heard good things about it. And it does make the whole resort smell WONDERFUL. I always do a "semi-homemade" Thanksgiving dinner. We have done it for years and can't imagine doing it any other way!

Be on the lookout for info on the annual "day-before-Thanksgiving" DIS get-together! :woohoo:

We've bought the meal (and the fried turkey was delicious!) but found we had way too much turkey and not enough sides.

I do what Disneyaholic does - make a "semi-homemade" meal. Turkey breast, instant potatoes (add cream cheese and you'd swear they were homemade!), real stuffing, pie from Publix. You get the picture. ;) Nothing like the smell of turkey and the sound of football filling the room. Mmmm.

Hope to see you there!!

Kristen

I remember last year that someone was complaining that they were given a very broad delivery time (like "sometime between 9:00 and 12:00) and had to hang around their villa all morning. That's one reason we preferred Piggly Wiggly-although we had to go over and pick it up, we did it around our schedule (I think we picked it up the night before). It was OK, but this year, I really hope Signe's offers theirs again!
