Dionne, Stevie, Elton, Gladys... we were all so young and idealistic, with a bright and shining future ahead.
This is the song that we played at my best friend's funeral; she died at 34 of pancreatic cancer. She's been gone for longer than she was alive, and as sad as it makes me to hear this song, every time I do, I remember her and all that I have to be Thankful for. I was running out of steam today, took a break to check my email and the Dis, and found this. Now I have a smile on my face, as well as a couple of tears... and am happy to move forward, go back to the cooking, singing, smiling, sharing, and love that makes Thanksgiving all that it is. Thanks for posting this, Dan. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
