Thanksgiving Camping turns into off site with family in May

The kids loved their Valentine's day gifts - I bought them these books. I figured they would make wonderful autograph books. They are about 8x11 in size but I think I can still fit them in a back pack when we outgrow the stroller (big) bag we are taking this trip.

90 days and counting

Those books are so cute! I love the idea of using them for autograph books. :goodvibes

:woohoo: for 90 days!!

My updated plan of attack, not really much has changed but I’m definitely building in a day for each of the water parks now – we had such a fun time at Great Wolf Lodge this weekend that we now must visit both the water parks at Disney. We did Typhoon Lagoon 2 years ago and loved it so we’ll start off with Blizzard Beach this time and then return to Typhoon Lagoon later in the week.

Friday 5/13 – we’ll leave some time this evening after work and school. Hopefully drive all night or pull off at a rest stop if we decide we need the rest – I don’t mind driving some though so if Hubby needs a break we can swap.

Saturday 5/14 – I made a reservation at the Comfort Inn Oceanfront Jacksonville Beach - http://www.comfortinnjaxbeach.com/ - which is 11.5 hours from our home. Hubby can rest and I’ll take the kids to play on the beach or at the pool. If Hubby can’t join us on this trip I will be leaving early on Saturday morning – like 3 am and we’ll drive to Jacksonville Beach to stay the night there.

Sunday 5/15 – hopefully we’ll all wake up refreshed from the long drive down. The hotel offers continental breakfast so we’ll eat and then get on the road to head to Blizzard Beach – it’s about a 2.5-3 hour drive from the hotel. We’ll spend the day at BB and then leave around 4 to go check into the timeshare. After we get settled there I plan to go grocery shopping and we’ll probably turn in early for the night.

Monday 5/16 – Early pre-park opening ADR at EPCOT for the Princess Storybook breakfast. The girls are going to love this even if it means we have to be out the door around 7. EPCOT is Tyler’s favorite park. After breakfast we’ll hit up some rides in Future World and then head back to World Showcase. I’ve made passports for all the kids – Tyler loves going around collecting the stamps and autographs. I’ve never seen Illuminations and I’m not sure with the early start that we’ll be able to stick around till park closing but we’ll just play it by ear.

Tuesday 5/17 – Rope drop at AK (I hope). We are usually done with this park by lunch time. So the plan will be to head back to the timeshare for lunch and then maybe a nap – or if not we’ll visit either DHS or MK – can’t decide if we’ll skip DHS on this trip or not – just not enough time to do it all – anyway both parks are open until 9 this night.

Wednesday 5/18 – Sleep in if we need it – breakfast at the timeshare and maybe visit the pool and game room. Head over to Disney Quest around 11 (will probably grab a snack at the timeshare for lunch). My family has a 5 pm dinner reservation at T-Rex (SIL didn’t think it would appeal to her girls so not sure what they’ll do) I’m really looking forward to this meal – as are Devin & Tyra who love to look at photos of the restaurant in other’s trip reports. We’ll finish the day off with some shopping around DTD or just head back to the timeshare for the evening.

Thursday 5/19 – Typhoon Lagoon today. When we are done with the water park we may head back to DTD for some shopping (depending on what we do the night before) or back to the timeshare for some relaxing (they have several pools, mini-golf, game room and other stuff like a playground & basketball courts)

Friday 5/20 – our last full day at Disney. If we missed anything on our first visit to EPCOT we’ll head back here early and if not we’ll head straight to MK and spend the whole day there. MK is supposed to be open until 10 this night so if we need a mid day break we’ll head back to the timeshare for a nap.

Saturday 5/21 – My family will be leaving this day – not sure if SIL will be heading home with us or staying until Sunday (we have to check out of the timeshare by Sunday). I made a late 10:45 breakfast ADR at Chef Mickey’s for one last does of Disney magic before we get on the road.

Sunday 5/22 – we’ll arrive home sometime super early this morning. I wanted to leave this day to get home and get back to reality before heading to work/school on Monday.

Your plans look great! We have lots of driving to do as well but it will be so worth it to be in a house instead of cramped into a Disney resort- and to have a car instead of relying on Disney buses!

With our family of 5 (and total group of 13) flying is not an affordable option. I loving having my own car to do what I please - I liked the Disney transportation when we stayed on site but we still had our truck then as well - made a trip to Wal-mart or where ever for dinner one night doable.

Still over 2 months left in my countdown but my bags are almost packed:rotfl:

I went through all the kids shorts to see what would still fit this year and what was ready to be passed down (we have an awesome hand-me-down train going with friends who have kids similar ages). With today's high of 45 there's no need for summer clothes anytime soon so I went ahead and put together outfits for the kids (along with DH & myself) and put them in our bags in the camper. I still have stuff to add but I've made a list of what is needed for every person so it should be easy to finish up.

70 days until Disney - and to celebrate a photo from our last trip together

2 months and counting!!!!!!!!!

I actually have a camping update - I made 2 reservations today!!!! July 4th will be spent at Bull Run Regional Park, we visited here a couple of years ago for the 4th and enjoyed the fireworks show so we'll head back. I also booked us a back to school trip the last weekend in August at a Yogi that's offering an amenity free discount - that will save my family $80 on a visit there - I can't justify that added charge but we love the campground and all the activities they offer so we try to go in the off season which is usually in May when it's too cold to use the water park - I'm really looking forward to a summer trip there.

Less than 50 days and counting!!!!!

We watched a Disney Parks special on the History Channel on Saturday. The kids are all super excited about Expedition Everest – I told Tyra she would not be tall enough but she doesn’t believe me and then I also warned Devin that he would be close so he may have to sit off as well. He’s adamant that he’s going to ride – I don’t think he’s tried a coaster yet that he loves so this really surprises me.

Hi! Followed your link from my PTR ... will come back and read and post.

Can't wait!

So excited that we have both a May and January trip at the same time! Great minds think alike:lmao::rotfl2::thumbsup2

Followed you here from another PTR :) You're going just a couple weeks before me.... have fun!

Welcome to anyone new :wave2:

:cheer2: 39 days until we arrive at Disney:cheer2:

For anyone who wants to follow along I suggest you just read backwards as plans have change, re-changed, and then changed again - sometimes I confuse myself.

I’ve decided to hold off on the Pick a Pearl experience until our January trip. We’ll have a lot more time in the parks in January and I think it will just be a better time to do it. Tyra will be a little older and I think enjoy it more. I just purchased additional carriage cages from ebay for the other girls that will be on our trip – going to give them as birthday gifts with a Disney gift card to pay for the pearl.

The last couple of months Tyra has taken a liking to Belle – so of course when given the choice to wear any of her princess dress to our character breakfast none will do b/c we don’t have a Belle dress (that fits her – we actually have 2 that are a size 7/8). Anyway I can’t see making a purchase b/c the kids already have pirate costumes to wear this year for Halloween. I made a few phone calls and my aunt has one in her daughter’s dress up (she and Tyra are the same age). Crisis averted – Chris picked up the Belle dress and Tyra is thrilled that Shannon is letting her borrow it for our trip!!!!

I want to download some Disney songs for our 12+ hour drive next month. What’s your favorite????

Hey, Bull Run is close to where I live!! Have fun! I've only been there one time for their Christmas Lights show.

Yeah -- so glad you were able to borrow one. I picked up some Disney princess gowns on Freecycle the other week and got: Snow White, Jasmine, Minnie Mouse all for free!! woo hoo!! Since they were previously used, they are a bit worn, but no problem! They still look good!!

A few Christmases ago I got the 6 or 8 album disney music CDs and love it!!

My favorite villian song is Ursula's.

I also love the rides and any song from the movies -- Lion King and Little Mermaid.

We've camped there several times and enjoy the park. The first time we went was for Thanksgiving a few years ago so we could do the Christmas lights. The ice skating still wasn't open since it was early in the season - will have to make it back there sometime to try that.

I'm all about saving money and getting deals.
