Anyone else concerned about all the flight cancellations?

I'm starting to wonder if it's foolish thinking I can fly into SNA next Saturday and then get a flight out again on Tuesday the 18th. I REALLY don't want to cancel this trip! But It's so tricky not knowing what will happen with flights. They could have long delays or even be canceled. From what I've read things will only get worse as the week goes on. As much as I love Disneyland I don't want to get stuck there lol.

Has anyone had issues flying in and out of SNA or other Southern California airports?

Do you think there's any chance the resort hotels will have a more flexible cancellation policy during a time like this, or stick to their 4 day window? I have to cancel by Tuesday in order not to pay my first night, but honestly I'm considering just doing that if I have to in order to buy myself a few more days before I have to cancel the whole trip.
It’s the layovers that will impact you most. While SNA isn’t affected by cuts, hubs like ATL, ORD and others are going to be impacted.

You can book a refundable backup flight for a later time on the same day you are returning home. If your original flight leaves on time, cancel the refundable flight. Nothing lost out of pocket but tremendous peace of mind.
Oh, that's a good idea!

That's true. My main concern aside from a super long delay/cancellation is TSA times etc at the airport. I've heard some people are waiting like 4 hours to get through security but I guess that depends on the airport. I'm going to try to get some information about SNA's wait times.

I think part of the worry, too, is that I don't know what it will look like next week when I'm coming home. So far departure day (Saturday the 15th) seems ok but who knows what will be happening on Tuesday.

Update from OP— I'm not going on the trip. I'm sad to miss out on Christmas but I'm already rebooked for April. I hope everyone else's flights go smoothly!
I cannot imagine the disappointment but hope having something to look forward to in April helps! 🤗

oh no! Because of the flights?
Yes, I think all that would cause stress for me and I'd rather go at a time when I can relax and not worry about flights. Plus the weather forecast has been a little inconsistent.

Yes, it's such a disappointment but having another trip on the books helps alot. I do think it was the right choice even though it's a bummer.

Glad you at least have something to look forward to in April. Is it another Dapper Day? I haven't looked at the calendar for the events for next year.

All these flight issues have been making me worried about future stuff that I don't even need to be worried about right now.

Flew DFW to LAX Sunday and returned this morning. No issues, no delays.

I was on a hub to hub route and surely got somewhat lucky. The situation should start to improve over the next week as the shutdown formally ends.

I'm flying again tomorrow and Friday to/from Houston (IAH not an AA hub) and can report back.

Yes, it's another Dapper Day so I can get that great rate for the Grand :)
