I know most DVCers avoid holidays, but it was the perfect time to get my family together in one FUN place! We've kind of had to sprinkle our own pixie dust to make it happen, but all 12 of us will be there! :wizard:

We've done Christmas with just the 5 of us, and my parents have joined us on trips off-season. Any advice for Thanksgiving week? We are hoping to just enjoy each other and the beautiful resort (SSR) and use the parks as entertainment as needed. We are doing DDP, or my DM would be cooking the whole time.

I'm so excited - 5 weeks away now!

PS - has anyone ever created a "scavenger hunt" type activity at WDW? DH is working on one to add to the adventure!:cool1:

I loved our Thanksgiving @ WDW! I actually found it to be much less crowded than our trip in mid May this year. We went to HS on the day and it was empty! Can't speak for the other parks. It would have been even better if we were able to snag dinner at LTT, but our Prime Time dinner was just as yummy. It seemed several restaurants were offering some sort of TGiving fare as a special.

Thanks! I am excited!

We do have LTT for the Sunday before - I called at exactly 180 days and that was the best I could do. I really wanted it for TG, but we are having TG dinner at WCC - the CM said that would be really fun with a large group, plus it is my DB's bday! She said they would have TG fare. We've eaten there before, so I know it will be FUN!:thumbsup2

We are also doing Primetime Wednesday - a fluke, since I just called today to make some changes and they had room for all 10 of us for late lunch! I couldn't believe it! My DM had requested that, but it wasn't available before. Thank God for cancellations!

We will be at WDW from Nov. 21-Dec. 1st. We have reservations at Tony's at MK for Thanksgiving lunch. We are so excited:banana: We have never been to WDW during the holidays:santa: .

We will be at VWL from the 24th to the 29th. We are also going to be at HS on the day eating at PT. We are really excited as it will be my parents first time at WDW. We're hoping for good weather and know we'll have fun times. 2 Years ago we cruised the week of Thanksgiving and on Wednesday when our ship returned they actually had flurries at the port. BRRR!

You'll love it! We went last Christmas, and had the best time ever! Not that we'd want to spend every Christmas there - our families would never forgive us. It was crowded, but not as bad as we expected! We wanted to enjoy all the holiday activities, so did not try to ride everything, etc. I LOVE Christmas, so I enjoyed the holiday decorations, music, shows.

DON'T MISS: of course, the holiday fireworks at MK and EPCOT, the holiday parades everywhere (AK had a great one too), Osborne Lights, Christmas Processional (we did it on Christmas Eve - it was perfect!) - all the obvious stuff.
Magic Kingdom has a terrific holiday show at the Galaxy Theatre that is rather un-hyped, but we loved it!
We missed the MVMCP because our school didn't get out in time, but I still want to do that someday!

I'm still pouting a little that my family "has" to leave on the 28th, before the Christmas Processional starts that night. I campaigned for one more night, because it is so good. But I lost on that one. Since you will be there, definitely go! :goodvibes

We'll be down for our 3rd Thanksgiving 11/21-11/28. Can't wait! I know I'm more excited than the kids.:rotfl2:

While I arrive the day after this year - I have done Thanksgiving a few years back and ate dinner at WCC. It was great - we had to take our dessert (apple of pumpkin pie??) back to the room for later. And yes it was a real hoot so you are definitely in for a great time. Have a wonderful vacation!:santa:

We'll be there!! We arrive November 24th and leave November 29th. We can't wait. Our TG dinner will be in our villa at SSR. My grandparents, dad & his wife, and sister's family will be joining us. We originally planned to do this in 2006 but my mom died very unexpectedly in October from pancreatic cancer, so our visit will be bitter sweet. I had hoped to share the Candlelight Processional with mom for so many years, when we finally got it scheduled, it was too late. (For those who think it would be great, take the time to do it now, but you never know how much time we have.)

We'll also be at SSR for T-giving (TG dinner at Garden Grill/Epcot)...we're a party of four, then five, then two, then 1...I arrive the Sunday before T-giving in the morning; my "almost-daughter" (my son's nanny who's just like a daughter to me still) and her five-year-old and 2 year-old arrive that evening...they in their SSR studio and me in mine...on Monday, my DS arrives to share my SSR studio...we're all together til Friday morning, when almost-daughter and almost-grandkids go home...DS and I have 3 more days together...he goes back to school the Sunday after T-giving...I will work after DS leaves (have deadlines that make Sunday/Monday impossible travel days) and part of Monday...will enjoy resort hopping to see holiday decorations and just relaxing on my own til I leave Tuesday morning...

REALLY excited about this trip...such a wonderful blend of extended family time, time just for DS and me, and time on my own...

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

We've never been for Thanksgiving, but we always say if we ever do then the Pilgrims Feast Turkey dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern would be a must! Actually it is a must on every trip regardless of when we go!:lmao:
Enjoy everyone!:goodvibes

Hi!

Count us in!! We'll be at SSR for Thanksgiving week (Nov. 21-28 are our dates). :yay:

Where are you eating on Thanksgiving? As per DS10's request...we're having Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's.

This will be our 11th year going to Disney for Thanksgiving. We love it!!!
We have Thanksgiving dinner in our villa. It is the best.....every Thanksgiving morning I have a reservation at the spa for the females who come with us. Usually two or three of us.
After the spa, we go shopping, since the outlets and other stores are open on Thanksgiving day.My dear husband is in charge of dinner along with the other husbands who keep the kids and prepare dinner. Wherever the females are, we must be back to the room by 4PM. When we arrive to the room, we can smell the awesome aroma coming from our room and the appitizers are already waiting for us. I look forward to Thanksgiving every year.
Last year was a great Thanksgiving in Disney, it was a family affair, there were 10 of us and my Dad truely enjoyed this trip which was his last Disney trip due to health problems.
If anyone is conteplating taking someone on a trip to Disney, Just DO IT!!!!
Dont wait. You never know how much time they have to be healthy enough to take the trip. i am so glad Dad was able to go last year and enjoy himself.

We are there at SSR/OKW the week leading into Thanksgiving. We actually fly home Thanksgiving night. We did the same trip last year.....it was nice to arrive a few days prior to the holiday crowds but of course i was sad when we left on Thanksgiving day...but we did save a bunch on our airfare by doing this.

4 more weeks!

Dh and I have been planning this trip for about a year, and we are so excited! Since our first DVC tour, we have been wanting an excuse to stay in a GV. When my DB and DSis both moved farther away, this seemed the perfect opportunity to bring the family together for the holidays. Circumstances and financial issues threatened to get in the way, but we did it and all are coming!! We even worked out a dining "rotation" so that we could eat in smaller groups (and get ressies easier).

We are staying at SSR, and our ADRs are:

Sunday - Boma (guys)
Liberty Tree Tavern (girls)
Monday - Princess Breakfast at Norway (girls)
Yak & Yeti (guys)
Tuesday - Rose & Crown (couples)
Biergarten (grandparents & kids)
Wednesday - 50's Prime Time - all
Thursday - Whispering Canyon Crazy - all

Wish it could be longer, but we do visit often, so we aren't trying to get everything in on this trip!

We'll be there too for our third Thanksgiving at the World. We love it that week. Its so festive with all the Christmas decorations and we always have family and friends joining us for Thanksgivng dinner which this year will be at Cape May Cafe for 23. :)

we'll be splitting our stay first 3 nights at OKW then 3 at Coronado Springs - eating Thanksgiving dinner at my favorite, the Turf Club. This is our first Thanksgiving week trip (Nov 22-28).

My DS, DD and myself will be at WL (cash ressie) from Tuesday 11/25 and leaving Monday 12/1. We are so excited and have started the "countdown".

We will be having TG breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and TG dinner in the MK at the Castle. My DS, who is a disney nut at age 22, as well as a CM, wanted to have dinner at the castle that night.

We were originally set to leave on 11/30 but decided to go to the MMVMCP that night and leave the following morning. Anyone else doing MMVMCP that night?
