I know just a few days ago you could start booking for 2016 dates. I looked and there is no availability for thanksgiving and Christmas week in 2016 for a FW RV site. Would that be true already? Am I too late??

You are a little early to start booking for the holidays of next year. The online booking will only let you book so far in advance but, if you call you can make reservations ( room / site only, no package ) 499 days in advance. Can't remember if that is from first day of check in or last day of stay. but for 12-25-2016 you can't book until Aug. 14, 2015.

1) These are HIGH weeks at The Fort.
2) They are the most sought-out of any days.
3) Waiting this long could mean not getting a ressie without lucking into a cancellation.
4) Most people book 499-days ahead of time for major events (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)

I would call and you may have better chance but Medic is right about the booking dates.

Scupper is right about the popularity of those particular holidays.

As soon as 2016 prices where up the website got slammed. I even though I was not even trying for holiday weeks I watched july 4th go from available to not for preferred in about an hours time as we sorted out cost and availability for time to go. I would not be surprised to see Christmas to new years wiped out even before online reservations where possible. Even when we went after the holiday we had to call almost a year in advance if we wanted more then full hookup sites and that was arriving after the new year!

I just called this morning & couldn't get a premium site for after New Year's, but did get a preferred site, which will be fine. FW must stay almost full all the time now!

i tried to book 3rd january until 27february inclusive at fort wilderness campgrounds, premium site, dog loop using dvc points on 20june and again 1july but have been told on both occasions that there is NO INVENTORY whatsoever for these dates.......does this mean that it is fully booked or has dvc not released the inventory yet...this is so frustrating as we live in canada and want to avoid this winter in the frozen north..........the month of march will have to be booked near orlando using $$$$ so we need to know if we can get in disney first

They seem to have only a few sites, if any, available to DVC points so with no availability might just mean only with using DVC points try without & see, even tho I know you would prefer on points.

I think double r hit the nail on the head.

I plugged your dates into the reservation tool and the Jan 3-Feb 2 window (can only book 30 days at a time) had only Premiums available. The Feb 2-Feb 27 had more kinds of availability. February crosses a timeline when the rates go from mostly Value to mostly High Season so I'm not surprised there is more availability at this point in the 2nd window.

We've had people over the years complain about not being able to use DVC points to get campsites even though that portability is a feature of owning DVC. It seems Disney sets aside a limited number of sites that can be booked with DVC points rather than allowing ANY available site to be booked with DVC points.
