Hey fellow campers!

Got a reservation booked today for Thanksgiving 2010! The Saturday before to the Saturday after. Now, it's been years since we stayed at the Fort, but I couldn't believe that while I couldn't get a site in early November with any combination of dates, I had no problem getting this week. This was on-line, and maybe a phone call would have yielded different results, but you'll hear no complaints from me!!

I just did a search and found Tri-Circle-D's "Thanksgiving" thread from last year....FANTASTIC photos, but where I had been thinking Thanksgiving decorations, it looks now like I should be aiming for Christmas decorations! Ok!...I'm good!

Does anyone know if Trail's End does a special meal or anything on Thanksgiving day? Will it be difficult to get an ADR there? I know I'm a loooong way from being able to do that, but I'm just wondering if anything out-of-the ordinary goes on there for the holiday. I'm also thinking this is probably a good day to stay out of the parks and enjoy the Fort?!!

We'll have our little pop-up and be in either 1500 or 2000. This looks like a great week to be at the Fort and we can't wait! :woohoo:

We are planning to be there also....if our school still takes the whole week off. If not, it will be Tues through Sun.:thumbsup2

Trails End does a special Thanksgiving meal. I would plan to get ADRs as soon as they open up...if you want to go there. We are going to plan to fry a turkey at the site and do a complete dinner there.

Thanks Live4FW! I can't wait to see what other DISers/Fiends will be there and try to meet some folks.

I think - when the time comes - we will try to get an ADR for Trail's End. If I can't, I'll probably run out somewhere the day before and get some turkey or chicken pieces and pan fry 'em!

We go to Dollywood for Thanksgiving and to the Fort for Christmas/NewYears. In the Dollywood area we are usually in a "cabin" and get a dinner from Kroger. It has a precooked, but frozen, turkey and whatever side dishes we want. The sides can be nuked or ovened. I'm sure there must be something like that around Buena Vista/Kissimmee.

At the Fort we usually take a frozen turkey breast and heat it in the oven with whatever spices we choose. Many of the side dishes are prepared as we would at home from canned or fresh ingredients supplemented with some local frozen sides.

Fresh, frozen, or canned at the Fort it's still better than home.

We made our reservations 2 nights ago for Thurs Thanksgiving day leaving tne next Monday. I know it's a short trip but we live so close I was happy to get the reservation for that time. My wife could not believe I reserved something that far in advance. With those dates the early bird catches the worm...lol :yay:

We've been going Thanksgiving weekend since 04. Guess I better make my ressies now. They are hard to get after New Years.

This is actually the time I always call.
