Thanksgiving 2007!!!

I would think that the hardest reservation to get would be for Palo, so if you are interested in eating there, you should think about your top three choices of dates and times. I've never eaten there, so I'm sure someone else here can give you better advice about booking Palo.

There's no need to do much in advance for the kids clubs, other than enrolling them online. It's not like they can get shut out of anything.

It couldn't hurt to have any excursions ready to book at your 75 day window either, just in case they happen to sell out. I believe you can also reserve excursions right through the company itself rather than Disney, but there are pros and cons to that process.

Yes. The good news...it seems most people book the time slots for 7pm and later. DH and I never wanted to miss the dining rooms with our DD (because we're afraid WE'D 'miss something.) We didn't have trouble booking Palo for the earliest slots. (I think they open at 6pm or 630, and we always take that one, and THEN go to our 830 rotational dining. We have coffee and visit with our table-mates.) If you're planning to go to Palo dinner, you might consider doing this if you have 'late' seating.:)

That's a good suggestion, Priscilla. I'd like to try Palo, but I'm not sure that I can convice the other adults in our party to try it. They're of the belief that "I'm already paying for dinner in the dining room!" :sad2:

I've been on both sides of that one. The first two Disney cruises, we didn't go to Palo. (Except for the brunch the second time.) After paying for airfare, bus transfers, airport Hyatt, tips, it got to the point, in which one of us was saying, I don't want to pay for another thing.':rotfl:

I'd really like to try Palo, since this is our third Disney cruise and I'm not sure if we'll go with another cruise line like RCL in the future.

Of course, we'll step on board and have a blast again.....and then we'll head right to the desk to rebook! :rotfl:

We loooovvvveeee Palo!! For us it is well worth the $10 and tip. We have booked the brunch and a dinner each time we have sailed the Magic. Keep in mind, if you don't get the date or time you prefer on line, you can always ask to change the date or time once you are on the ship. Rock N Bar D is the place to go when you board.

Also, I recommend booking excursions on line b/c some of the disney excursions book quickly.

Thanks for the ressie info - I think I got it. Now for a bigger question...what excursions to do at each stop? Besides my DW and I, there is DS16, DS8 and DD5 - and we want to do any excursions together as a family. What are your favorites either through DCL or outside, that would work for all 5 of us?

You need to try Palo just one time. I prefer the brunch now over the dinner but we will probably do both. After eating the bruch I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day. It was so good. I do love the chocolate souffle.:goodvibes

Ok, my mission is now to convice them to try Palo's!! :thumbsup2

BTW, if you can fit it into your schedule during the week, go to the Art of the Theme ship tour. I did this tour in January on the Wonder, and it's really fascinating. I learned a lot about the theming of decorating the ship. Certain things I would have never noticed if they hadn't pointed them out to us.

In 2004 we did the Fury Caramaran (sp??) in Cozumel. That was fun. You sail for a while, then snorkel, then stop at a beach for a while and sail back.

On Castaway Cay we have done the parasailing and the banana boat--both were lots of fun!! Priscilla's husband and daughter were on our parasailing boat in 2005. Priscilla-I don't think you joined them, if I remember correctly!!

We have also done the stinray feeding at Castaway Cay. This year we will try to do the stingray snorkel in Grand Cayman if all goes well!! That is weather dependant. In 2004 the weather was great, but we booked a different excursion that we thought would be good for Mason--it was the semi sub excursion--to look at the life under water. In 2005 we booked and couldn't stop at GC due to weather. In 2006 we booked and were able to be one of the lucky 3 ships they allowed to stop at GC by parking in back of the Island, but the weather was soooo windy==all water excursions were cancelled. Now. for 2007, I am keeping my fingers crossed!! :woohoo:

Maybe we could all meet up at Palo brunch on one of the 'at sea' days.:) For those of us who've dined at Palo before, let's list some of our favorites here. LK 4, use this as a reference to 'entice' others in your party.:rotfl:

Brunch:

the PIZZA!!! (can't remember if it's available for dinner?)
lemon meringue pie (every other pie I consume now is a disappointment)
the stollen with jam, berries and whipped cream (heavenly!)
the 'sticky' buns..very doughy cinnamon rolls that put Cinnabon to shame!

I'll list more as I remember them.

(Just shows it's time to dine at Palo again. I need to refresh my memory!)

The brunch sounds heavenly. :goodvibes

That's a great idea, Priscilla!!

Some of our favorites on the brunch include the wonderful seafood...huge, delicious crab legs already open so no messy work involved...yummy large shrimps already peeled....and if I remember correctly, stone crab claws!!!

Looks like we'll be getting a movie premiere onboard! Leah and I went to see Nancy Drew this afternoon. One of the previews was for a new Disney movie called Enchanted.

It starts off as your typical animated princess story. Then, the princess falls into a hole and comes through the other end as a real live princess in the middle of NYC. It looks really cute. It's due in theaters on November 21st.

I found this thread on page 3 :scared1: !!

Rob and Priscilla-isn't it almost time for ya'all to cruise w/ Willie, Doogie and their families?? I'm sure that will be a great vacation!!

How about the rest of you turkeys?? What do you have planned for this summer?

Lisa

Tsk, tsk, tsk, I leave yall alone for a while and you drop down to page 3????

What's up Turkeys?

Yep, we will be sailing with the "DARK SIDE" (RCCL) July 1-8 out of San Juan Puerto Rico, to Barbados, Antigua, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, and St. Thomas. I wish it was DCL, but the dang blamed Magic keeps leaving every year!

I will drop back by after we return to give you an update.

Anybody heard from Andrew(TCD)? I wonder if he is still sailing Thanksgiving with you guys?
I still have a couple of cabins reserved, but will have to change the date soon to keep my discounts and credits. I don't know when I will be able to sail DCL again. Gotta find a sailing. Maybe Turkeys 2008?

Wishing yall a great cruise.

Hi Willie!!

Thanks for posting!! We hope ya'all have a great time on your cruise!! We may go over to the dark side in 2008 on one of the rccl ships out of Miami--Freedom or Liberty?? We will see!!!

Lisa

Hey everybody, hope everyone is having a good summer. Since this is our first cruise and leaving the USA in over 17 years, we don't have passports.
Does everyone have one already? My travel agent encourages us to get one but the lady at the passport office said it isn't necessary. What do ya'll say? I know right now if I get one I'll have enough time by Nov. Especially since I read what happened with someone earlier this year.
Let me know. Thanks, Melinda
