Thanksgiving 2007!!!

Well folks, I'm so relieved we didn't book the Turkey Day cruise for THIS year. Rob spent 5 hours in the emergency room yesterday. He 'wiped-out' on his dirt-bike, and landed on his back, after falling about 5 feet. Rachel witnessed the entire accident. He broke his tailbone and lightly fractured his spine. He was so LUCKY (Dr. told him to buy a lotto tkt on the way home) to walk out of the hospital last night. We're taking each day and moment as it comes, and the Dr. said it'll probably be about six weeks before he can lift any heavy objects or bend.

Rob groaned to me while at the hospital, 'you married a dare-devil,' and I said 'a dare-devil, who I hope, LEARNS.' As we were leaving, I asked the Dr, 'interested in buying a dirt-bike?' to which he replied, 'No, and I get the same offer from every other motorcycle victim who comes in here.'

Yes, I'm glad we didn't book the cruise for 2006, as we don't buy trip insurance. (Maybe now, we will!) So how was everyone else's weekend?

Well most of those posting on our thread are already packed. We plan to start wednesday night instead of thursday (we are heading to the port on friday), but once you have done this a couple times it is a lot easier to pack. However, being packed a week early.....LOL

Wednesday should be our drive to Indy and Thursday shoud be our flight to WDW.........and to rub salt in the wound......IT'S FREEZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK you guys, you are making me antsy. This will be our first Thanksgiving to spend with family in several years. For the past few, I have been either at WDW, and watching football at ESPN Club, or onboard the Magic, watching football with you guys! I will probably be pouting this year.

This is my first post on this thread, and my first post on the DIS since 4/10/06.

I appreciate that Willie and Doug checked in on me a while back. I felt like I needed to take a break from the DIS, and I didn't want to start posting on a new cruise thread until I was actually booked. Well, we haven't booked this cruise yet, but how can we not be thinking about a Thanksgiving Magic cruise this time of year?

LOL- I see that the top posters on this thread are currently all fellow Turkey alumni- Willie, Chuck/Lisa, Lampy, Priscilla, Doug, John/Julie, Tonya, Sherrie, Maria/Charlie, Kenny, and Jeff. Man, do I wish that I was packing my suitcase this week.

Do you Turkeys remember this week last year? We were furiously posting to get the thread to 5000. Lampy was calling us and opening beers over the phone. Willie was making crank calls. Ah, the memories.

So, I have read through the postings here, and it looks like some of you are cruising together in the Summer of '07. Lampy just announced that he is definitely in for Turkey Day '07. I am not 100% yet, but I think we are going to do this too. If I know that some of the rest of you folks are in for sure, it will help me to make the decision.

I have to admit that the DIS just was not as much fun without you here giving me a "difficult" time. I guess that phone call from "Guillermo" last year earned me a few raspberries.

We sailed the Wonder for the first four nights of Thanksgiving week in '04.

We sailed with you on the Magic for Thanksgiving in '05.

This year, we are camping for a week at Ft. Wilderness Thanksgiving week, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I was bumbed about not cruising for Thanksgiving this year.

Football on Thanksgiving? You know the Buc's are my team? Tampa Bay at Dallas- I ain't watching that.

Oh that reminds me, Ron, congrats on your Bears! You know that your QB is a Gator, so I am happy for you, too. Speaking of which, how 'bout them Gators!?

It is funny you should mention the phone call. Molly just asked the other night if I had received any phone calls about winning a trip in the Bubba Suite. I think she secretly wishes she was cruising this year too. We are actually going to drive back from Ft. Wilderness on Thanksgiving Day to eat with Molly's family, and then go back to camping that night.

Andrew, welcome back! So many of us were wondering when we were going to hear from you again. As Lampy said, let's get this reunion going!

It's so good to know that everyone is reminiscing about this time last year. I think it provides us with motivation to make it happen again. Yes, it will be a very different Thanksgiving this year. Let's keep looking to '07!

Now, if we could just track down Maria and Charlie. I know that Charlie was laid off from his job and they had to cancel this year's cruise. I hope they're doing okay.

Welcome back Andrew!!!!!!!!! Well I am still cracking a few beers....LOL......We have been at WDW and DCL since 2002 our ill fated "cancellation" of the Magic! But this year we will be a a neighbors cottage in crystal mountain resort at their cottage skiing.....hmmmmmmmmm last Thanksgiving I was sitting on dec 10 watching football drinking a 22 oz miller lite....looking down at TCD sun himself.....I do believe that was "YMCA" night....right? LOL

Even though the weather in Fla. is great this time of year, it just won't seem like Thanksgiving without a visit (or two) to Castaway Cay.

I was thinking, DCL is going to be confused about the surplus Miller Lite after next week's cruise. I am sure they keep track of these things, and order a lot every November for some reason or other.
