Thanksgiving 2007!!!

Lias,
I had to break down and tell Kelli last night that we fly to Vegas this Friday. I wanted to wait and tell her at the last minute, but my sister put the pressure on me so they could plan together for this weekend.
She was very excited. We will have a blast. Staying at Caesars Palace with my sis and her husband and two other couples.

Lisa, you and Chuck may have to "evacuate" up to Vegas and join us!

Willie-Sounds Great!! Ya'all will have a wonderful weekend!! :thumbsup2
Our office is open all day today, closed tomorrow, and hopefully thursday will be back to "normal"!! I would much rather be going to Vegas!! :cool1:

Lisa

Lisa and Chuck, you guys batten down the hatches. Looks like you are in for some of Earnesto.

We were very lucky!!! :thumbsup2 It was raining and windy all day, but Ernesto was no threat!! We spent the day at home. Mason and I played a lot of Monopoly Jr.--He won every game!!

Lisa

We lost some heavy tree limbs from the remenants of Ernesto. Glad it was only a depression (TD) here!

It caused some havoc for our WaterSki tournament. Half cancelled and we had to start in the leftover rain mid Saturday. Rachel did great...PB (personsonal best)!!!!! :cool1: It was a boost for her after missing the nationals by one point!

Wow! Vegas trip was great! Kelli had a nice surprise when we returned to the room Saturday morning. There was a delicious birthday "flower arrangement" made of fruit, sent by Julia and John(5J's)! We were hot and hungry and it hit the spot! Kelli says thanks Julia! Her birthday was a blast!

Willie, great photos of your trip! :thumbsup2 Looks as if you two had a great time! How was the buffet at Paris? (Never been there, but have heard it's a must not miss.)

Where does the time go? This time last year many of us were posting every day as the Turkey Day gang cruise was less than three mos. away. I don't think there are any of us going this year? :confused3 Maria and Charlie were, but had to cancel. :sad2: I hope they're doing alright. Lisa and Chuck, though, are doing the Thanksgiving Wonder. (Hey you two, please post some photos.) Do they serve lobster on the Wonder? Lisa, how's your arm? :)

Priscilla

Willie-Thanks for sharing your vacation photos!! :thumbsup2 You and Kelli look great!! :thumbsup2 That was sooo sweet of John and Julia to send the fruit!!

Priscilla-We are going on the Thanksgiving Magic this year. We thought about the Wonder, but then decided we needed a full week to be on vacation!! We wish ya'all were joining us!!

Lisa

Lisa, we know you guys will keep up the Turkey Tradition! How has the chatter been onthe 2006 Thanksgiving thread?

Lisa, I wish we were joining you too! :sad2:

Maybe you'll be able to recruit some more 'turkies' for Thanksgiving 2007! I'm sure that you'll be thinking of this gang though, this year. (Especially at the Pirate Night party pirate: !) Somehow, I don't think it will be the same without Lampy, Willie, John, and Andrew in the costumes. (Maybe that was 80's night in Rockin Bar D?)

Hi everyone!

We were in Vegas, too - but in June :-)

Hubby was going on business so I joined in for very few $$. We stayed at Bally's and had a great tiime.

We're cruising this year, but going on Carnival. Just wanted a change since we've done both the Magic and Wonder. Also, we are able to get TWO balcony rooms for less than the cost of two inside cabins on Disney.

We're going over New Years Eve - should be a blast. Just fyi, Mickeyhugger -- going out of Galveston! That can't be too far from you can it?

My brother, his wife and son are joining us which is nice since they live about 3000 miles away from us and we don't see them often.

The other thing -- our ports are Cozumel and Grand Cayman - the two ports we missed on our Turkey Day 05 cruise! So maybe we'll get there after all :-)

Hope everyone is well -
Kris

Kris, so good to hear from you!

Yes, Galveston is only about 6 hours from us, but you're even closer to Willie! They live only about an hour away. (Am I right Willie?)

We haven't sailed yet from Galveston, but we did sail Carnival Glory one spring break, and had a wonderful time. I liked their dining room food even better than DCL.

Have any new photos of your adorable dolls? Rachel is an avid doll collector. She's asking for more for her birthday and Christmas. (Lee Middleton and American Girls.) :)

Priscilla

Hey Kris!

Yes, Galveston Island is about and hour and 15 minutes from me. We go there often. If you come in early, there are some very good seafood restaurants on the isle.(see Galveston.com) Or ask me? :thumbsup2
Bring a light jacket, it can be chilly here in December. There is a neat shopping district on the island, too, called the Strand. It is right by the port.

If you have any questions I can help with email or call me. Cell-409-781-2058

Hey Willie & Priscilla -

My Texan buddies :-)

I will definitely be in touch, Willie, as we get closer to our date.

We are flying into Houston on the 30th Dec and arrive about 7:30 PM. I'm thinking we will just check into a hotel nearby the airport and shuttle to Galveston the next day. We will probably have a little bit of time before boarding, but most likely not a lot.

However, when we disembark, our flight doesn't leave Houston till about 7 PM. So we will have ALLLLL day to think up something to do. Unfortunately we will also have luggage to cart around. So I'm thinking we should perhaps rent a minivan for the day rather than take the shuttle. That way we can stash the luggage and explore Galveston for the day before driving ourselves back to Houston.

I will be looking for some info about Galveston come December, so don't disappear on me - LOL!

Hi everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!! It's an emotional time in our Nation's History with the 5th anniversary of 9/11 approaching. It is so sad to see the pictures of the children who lost a parent that day. We are so fortunate to be able to be with our families and plan these wonderful vacations!!

On a different note, a few weeks ago I made a huge decision at work--I am leaving a position that I have had for 14 years. Chuck and I have both felt that Mason has been missing out having 2 parents that both work full time. He has missed sports practices, our attendance at school functions and even our energy in the evenings. As a result, we decided that he deserves more at this point in his life. I am looking for a position as an attorney w/ more flexibile hours. This will be my last week at my current position--Friday 9/15 will be my last day. Chuck and I spent yesterday cleaning out my office--it's amazing what I have collected over 14 years!! I am very nervous about making such a change b/c we need 2 incomes and I have been in 1 environment for so long, but it is also an exciting time!! Thanks for letting me "ramble"!!

Lisa

Lisa, good for you!

I think everyone's felt the apprehension of cutting back to part-time, or going to one income, but there are also many positives (extra time, less money on gasoline, etc. You're smart though, and have already thought of this!)

I was interested, too, when you mentioned Mason's games and practices, and just wanted to comment to all parents out there who have kids in after-school sports and activities..how did you get through it, at first!!!!???? :rotfl: Rachel's taken Tae-kwan-do for 2 1/2 years, and she finally tests for 1st degree black-belt in October. That's two afternoons per week. I've been use to that, and her classes are only 1 mile away. She began volleyball this year, and has had 2 games per week so far. We've had up to 4 days per week with after-school activities. (long silence.) :lmao: I guess, (like bringing a newborn home from the hospital) NOTHING can prepare anyone for this. I'm so tempted to let her quit tae-kwan-do once she gets to first degree, but Rob said to let her continue if she wants. Where do kids get the energy? I worry about her being too tired for school and studying.

Lisa, 'ramble' all you want. I just did too. I feel better already. It's good to chat with one another. :teeth:

Thanks!! I agree!!:thumbsup2

Vegas must be "the" place this summer. I just returned from a neonatal nursing conference there and I also went there in June with my DH for a business trip. We stayed both times at the Venetian. This week it was a lot cooler than my June trip. I just loved your Vegas pictures. How was the Voo Doo Lounge? We went up in the Eifle Tower this time to watch the water show at the Balligio at night (that was amazing!) Well anyway I am still waiting for my luggage to be returned to me. Southwest lost it and hopefully it will turn up on my doorstep today.

Don't forget to take a moment today to think of the families of the 9/11.
