First, let me say I had a great time on marathon weekend! It was great to see all the Wish team members. The gathering at POP was awesome.
Kareneast - I LOVE the WISH bag. That was so nice of you!

Congratulations to everyone who participated! :thumbsup2

Thanks to all the WISHERs who were scream teaming for us. The support was fantastic. It really boosts the spirit when you see the shirts, hear the cowbells and see the people cheering for you. Between all of you and my friends from work, it gave me a boost when I needed it. Many thanks! :worship:

Unfortunately, my quest for another Goofy fell short. I got swept in the full at mile 17. :sad2: I was bummed and upset, initially, but I was also realistic in that I know I didn't get in as much training as I would have liked. So, I accepted my fate. Until I saw the Mickey & Goofy medals. Boy did I have a case of medal envy! Those medals are cool!

As much as I wanted those medals, I could not get my body to move any faster. I don't know if the 1/2 took it out of me or what, but I didn't feel energetic from the start of the marathon. By mile 5 I was questioning myself. My legs felt tired, but I tried to press on. I ended up walking most of the race (Wendy, I don't know how you do it!). I thought I was feeling better by the TTC. But from the time I left MK, till I got to AK I lost time every mile. My legs were hurting (shin splints again) and I felt a few blisters (not as bad as last year). The bike patrol was letting us know if we were ahead or behind pace. As we turned the corner approaching the 16 mile mark, they were hollering we had 30 seconds to cross the mat. I mustered up whatever energy was left and made it with about 10 seconds to spare. By mile 17 I was 2 minutes behind. That was it. I was done. I hobbled to a bus and got back to soak my legs in ice water (what fun  ).

I think I'm going to pass on fulls for awhile. Until I can lose some pounds and build some more endurance, I'll stick to the 1/2's. It's less wear and tear on my legs (which are still sore). I'm also thinking of taking a Disney break. I think I put too much pressure on myself to get the Goofy and right now I can't commit to that type of training. So maybe I'll try something else next year or just come down to scream team.

Sorry I rambled.

Again, congrats & thanks to all!

Terri

Terri,

I was on a bus pulling away from AK when I noticed you at the bus stop! I wish I would have known you were there before I got on the Epcot bus - I never would have left you sitting there alone! I felt awful seeing you sitting there and not being able to go sit and wait with you.

Two of my friends were spectating at AK and heard them announcing that people were going to be behind the pace. They ended up leaving before the pacer came through because they couldn't stand to watch it happen, they felt so bad for everyone that wasn't going to make it.

I'm sorry you got swept, but kudos to you for even attempting the Goofy. The full was plenty for me, especially in all that humidity. I definitely wouldn't have made it if I had done the half the day before too.

Terri,

I was waiting for you at 24.. but then heard from Anne that you got pulled at AK.... ONCE Again... I did not get your cell number at the start to get in touch with you....

I am sooooo sorry you didnt' make it!!!! But.. I remember what you said to me at mile 13... so... if you need to be reminded.. just ask ;)

Are you still in Disney? I didn't remember when you said you were leaving... PM me with your number if you are here....

Kathy

I would also like to thank the WISHers who pulled me and my friends over in the first hold area! We were so nervous, and just having others around to chat with was fabulous. I also want to thank Dave (Windwalker) for the big hug LOL!

Kristi - Thanks! I just wanted to get in the ice bath and figured it would be quicker hopping the bus from AK, rather than riding back to EPCOT and then getting the bus to SSR.

Kathy - sadly, I am no longer in WDW. Came home yesterday. I'll PM you my cell number for the future. I remember what I told you. It may take another year or two, but you may then have to get that gun ready.;)

Funny thing is, I wasn't bothered by the humidity on Sunday as much as I was on Saturday, and not nearly as bad as last year. I think because the sun was in and out, it didn't seem as bad to me.

If I can figure out how to avoid blisters and shin splints, though, I could make a fortune!;)

Terri -

My heart breaks for you. I'm sorry the Goofy didn't work out for you this year. However, it's amazing to me that you were able to do all that you did considering your foot surgery and lack of training. You are A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Your time is coming! ::yes:: :thumbsup2

By the way, if you get that blister thing figured out, please let me know. I have a blister the size of Texas on the ball of my left foot. Luckily, I didn't blister as badly as I did last year but I still can't figure out how to prevent the darn nuisance.
