After reading comments about the Unoffical guide I thought this would something for my husband.
He has never been to Disney before, even though I've been numerous times, he just was never interested in going.
This summer he surprised me by saying he would go with me, so I booked a trip for December. I have the passporter but he just was not interesed in reading anything Disney.
I orderd the Unoffical guide on the off chance it would interest him and it has...of course now he is worried about the lines, the bad food, the condition of the resorts and rude cast members..... :rotfl2:
All kidding aside I am so glad that he is finally getting interested in this trip, and I glad that the Unoffical Guide is one of the reasons.

Hmmm, maybe I should try this for DFi. He gets so sick of hearing me talk about Disney, so I doubt he will read about it. I wish he would get more involved in the planning, but he is at least pretty good about picking a few activities so I should just be thankful for that.

My parents are coming with us on this next trip for the first time and have no interest. I've just got the 2006 Unofficial guide so am going to leave it at their house and hope they will read it sometime in the next 6 months :earsboy:

Well thanks to the unofficial guide I am getting ideas about going back to Orlando again BUT indepentantly a week at Universal and 8 days in Disney world.

Of course, as chief planner and knower-of-all-things, I love the UG. However, I also think that it is the best book to give to someone who is going to WDW but hasn't quite snorted the pixie dust yet, if you know what I mean. The objective 'flaws, too' approach, along with the slightly twisted sense of humor, is great for those who are still a little skeptical about how seriously some of us take our planning.

Be well!

A couple years ago when I was taking my 80yo Dad for his first time since he took me as a kid, I gave him th UG to read. At that point he was Grumpy made over; didn't want to go, wasn't interested in planning, didn't want to read a book about it. That book was laying by his chair and he wouldn't read it in front of me; didn't want to give me the satisfaction I guess. Then I would catch him reading it when he thought I was gone to bed or whatever. After that first trip, he's now a WDW nut too! We've even gone again and he reads in that UG every night! I don't know if I should get him a new one or another book on WDW. I'm thinking he might enjoy the one written by Imagineers. He loves that UG though!

Last night my husband asked if I've made any dining reservations...Because the UG says to make them at 90 days"....it makes me chuckle.
He is worried however that a hot dog and fries are going to cost 9.50, I've assured him that is a bit high, but reminded him that food at any food park is going to be high.
He also wanted to know if I knew about fast pass :rotfl:
He may not love Disney as much as I do, but at least he is interested...plus I figure the UG has him looking at the worst case scenerio and once we get there he will be pleasantly surprised.
