Thanks for your great suggestion today on the email segment about reserving a state room for one person to lock in the rate and then adding the additional people later. I never thought to do that. Things are tight around here right now (self employed and taxes are due ) So we decided not to book because of the 600 deposit due. But thanks to your great suggestion DH gave me the green light to book! I've already emailed Tracy and I'm beyond excited

Yea!!! I saw your DH's thread a little while ago and wondered if he put a cabin on hold. I have a feeling lots of people might benefit from John's suggestion. We've already got our deposit paid for everyone but never even realized we could have gotten by with paying $200 instead of $800.

I think it's a fabulous suggestion!! I used to work as a travel agent (pre-9/11) and never even thought about that!! (oh how I miss being a travel agent...I LOVED my job! I got all of the Disney folks who came in the door because none of the other agents "got" Disney! )

If i'm able to, I might see if I can book a cabin too. I don't know...I want to, but things are incredibly tight and not sure when everything will resolve itself. It's not been a good year for us so far...

My DD will be 14 1/2 on the cruise she'll be 15 in Aug 09

It'll be great to know she will not be the only teen at the DIS events.

Here's my question.

I'd like a category 6 for four people. Will that be a problem on down the road, if the only 6's available are for 3 people?

Is there a list somewhere about what actual rooms hold how many? (I was in a "6" in 2005, but there was no pulldown bed on the wall. So, I am assuming it was a 3 person category 6. (Too bad, I loved the location.))

Disneyworld delight – when you put in your request just ask Tracy to make sure she reserves a category 6 quad stateroom (i.e. one that sleeps 4 people).

Now, I need to make sure I add some info to my suggestion that you only book and pay for one person in the stateroom if you can’t afford the full deposit. If at any time between now and when you decide to add the other passengers to you stateroom the ship ‘fills up’ DCL will not allow us to add them to your reservation. This is irrespective of whether or not they will fit in your stateroom.

I know this kind of doesn’t make sense – after all if you stateroom sleeps 4 and you only have 1 person you should be able to add 3 more right? Nope, the ship could reach capacity even if you have room in your stateroom for more people and we may not be able to add the other passengers for you.

In my opinion this is unlikely to happen for some time but I want to make sure everyone is aware that only passengers that have secured their space with a full deposit are guaranteed a spot on the cruise. Please keep in mind that the longer you wait to add all your passengers and pay all the deposit the more likely it will be that not everyone can be added.

Now, to make matters even more confusing Disney could still deny new passengers be added to your stateroom if certain other capacities are met – even if the ship itself is not sold out. Two examples of this are:

1. Lifeboat capacity. Even if there is space available on your sailing, if your lifeboat station is at capacity they will deny any additional passengers be added to your stateroom. Even if your stateroom sleeps 4 and you only have 1 person booked if the lifeboat station associated with that stateroom is full we will not be able to add anyone new. Now we could try to move you to another stateroom but if your lifeboat station is at capacity it is likely others will be as well – and of course changing your stateroom could mean a change in price from what you already booked.

2. Children’s activities capacity. Once DCL reaches the maximum number of allowable children in their kids programming they will not allow any more children to be booked on the sailing. Again, this is irrespective of if your stateroom is at capacity or not and if the ship is sold out. I have seen this many times when sailings start to fill up – adults can book but no additional children can be added.

Now – please don’t make Tracy crazy by asking if your lifeboat station or the children’s programming is nearing capacity. This is not the type of info she can provide.

Please know that I am not saying this to ‘scare’ anyone into changing their booking now or come up with more deposit. I just want to make sure everyone is aware these scenarios can occur. The sooner you add everyone to your party and pay the full deposit the more secure you will be in knowing that your entire party will have a place on the ship.

I just don’t want to see anyone left out of this cruise. It is going to be a blast !!!
