I have been lurking on this forum for months reading the tips and posts and I had been totally frustrated with my S2-IS. I don't have any idea about all the technical stuff dealing with cameras and my concert photos were always very hit or miss as far a being in focus...so I searched around here and found some easy to read tips on settings and stuff, printed a few posts and put them in my camera bag. Off I go to the American Idol concert in Hershey on Tuesday and take the time to make sure I get my settings right and I am sooooooo pleased with my pictures. The lighting is very poor at the AI shows (don't know why they can't spring for a decent stage set up for these kids) but I have some awesome shots. We were to the left of the stage, 12 rows back and this is my first concert where I took 188 pics and didn't have to delete at least half of them.....Almost all of them were in focus, and some are pretty amazing!!!! THANK YOU to everyone who has the patience to help us camera illiterate folks. Now I can't wait for Bon Jovi to come back on tour!!!!

Here is a link to some of the ones I have uploaded......

Great Pictures! I have this camera too and I'm so lost. Please share what setting exactly you used.

Thanks,
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa!

Here are the step by step instructions that someone one here posted about concert pics: ( I don't have my camera in front of me, but I think these are correct)

turn the knob on the top of the camera to P
turn the power on
press FUNC button
scroll down to ISO
press right arrow
repeat pressing the right arrow to ISO 400

I believe at the concert, I had the top button set at TV ... and don't ask me what it means. I just know these setting worked!!!!

At concerts you don't want to use the flash ( I rarely use the flash on this camera) This is what I set the camera on and the results were awesome.
You can also check out more posts by doing a search and plug in concert photos or the name of the camera...all the folks on this board are very helpful and friendly!!!

Good luck!!!

the TV setting is where you can control the exposure time... the camera then choses the apeture to go with it...

Nice pics! and good seats as well. Plus with the smmaller S2 there is probably less hassle at security than if someone tried to get in with a big DSLR kit.
thanks for sharing,
Mikeeee

way off topic but...

while looking at the pics I am reminded why I pay for a site. No toenail fungus adds!
