AMEN!
Christian(11), my MR/autistic son, started his summer camp yesterday and I don't know who was happier
. The first thing he did was run through a pack of Big Boys playing basketball--you should have seen their faces when they turned to race up court and there stood Christian, flappin' and grinnin'
To their credit, they nearly tore their knees out trying not to run over him and I quickly corraled Christian to the sidelines. I don't suppose Dateline will be running a story on him, haha
I am so grateful to Cobb Parks & Recreation. This is Christian's 4th yr and for the first time he is not the youngest kid. The staff has all been there for years and they know his little quirks. This year the manager assigned not one, but TWO wranglers to Christian--he just about wears them out! Thankfully, he is a sweet boy and doesn't really have any bad behaviors(other than repeatedly locking himself inside the ball closet!)
Today they are taking him shopping for Father's Day and to the movies(good luck with that
) and Thursday they're going to the zoo. Yippee!
Cathy--so glad to get her life back...summer is hard for autistic kids(and their parents!
