My DS (14) and I were supposed to arrive this past Saturday at the Boardwalk for an 8 day stay. Arrived at the airport at 5:30am after checking the internet and calling the airline (is it possible today to talk to a HUMAN?) and being told everything is "OK". The board on the airport said "ON TIME". Well we all know what happened so we went home after 3 hours.
The airline gave us a credit for future use (I'd rather have my money back and start again).
Our agent from Small World Vacations (via mousesaver.com) was in WDW and could not return home as scheduled. I decided to use this Disney "specialist" this year rather than try to keep up with the various codes and discounts. Josephine from Small World did a great job and after numerous changes to our reservations saved us $800.00.
Now we're home and I'm not sure what to do about our Disney reservation. I called the toll free number for Jo and left a message that we could not get to Orlando and need to cancel.
Keep in mind that she and her family cannot come home as scheduled and I'm sure things were not "normal" at WDW. She got back to me saying that Disney would make a full refund or re-book for us. I knew that Disney would do this but it made me feel better when I heard those words directly from Josephine.
We have rescheduled our trip for next year. Jo will keep on eye out for new deals and discounts and will make our PS as we get closer. I cannot say enough about a corporation like Disney that was under no obligation to give us anything........legally speaking of course.
My heart goes out to all the suffering people in Florida and hope and pray things get better for them.
My thanks also to Josephine from Small World Vacations for going the extra mile to take care of us while I'm sure she had her hands full with her family during this crisis.
All this kind of makes me think........this is EXACTLY what Walt would have done!!!!!
Prayers to all in Florida hurt in any way by Charley.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
