Just wanted to pop in to thank the many DISigners on this board that either designed for me or made their designs available. :worship: I had kept a list of everyone I had gotten designs from, but now I can't find it! Thanks again for helping make our cruise even more magical! :wizard:

Here are a couple of pics which show some of the magnets we used to decorate our door:

What kind of paper did you print them on that makes them look shiny? Also, tell me about the cute hanger that you have hanging next to the door? What did you use it for, did you make or buy it, how did you get it to hang on the wall, and what did you put in it?

Very Cute Door!!! :goodvibes All your designs look awesome! :thumbsup2

*Dolly, that "hanger" is a fish extender......... you hang it on the hook next to your door for notes, info, etc...... you can either make them or buy them........ they have tons on ebay!!

Thanks Wendy... One more question. What kind of magnets do you use to make the door hangers? I'm in the very early stages of planning a Disney Cruise but if I start now I can have AMAZING things to take on the trip!!!

Is the fish already attached to the wall? I figured out this question for the thread you posted...thanks!

Yes, the silver fish on the wall by your door is already there, it's a hook - the holder with the pockets just hangs on it.
Once you hang your "holder with pockets" on it........ it then basically "extends" the fish.............. lol, that is where "fish extender" came from.......... I learned all of this from a thread here about them. I guess people on the cruise would use the fish to leave notes, etc for the guest..... and someone decided they wanted something to hold more things........... so they made a "fish extender" ............ and viola.......... it caught on and now it's very popular!!! :goodvibes

I've actually seen some REALLY cute ones........... do a search here for them, I'll try to find the thread I read that had tons of info about them......... LOL, but it showed some pics too of what people had made. Actually, I *think* rhondamccullah <sp> posted the tread about it............... not positive though! Anyway, I'll see if I can find it..........

I used laminating sheets to make them a little sturdier than just paper stock.

We used our fish extender for a gift exchange with other DISers on the cruise. It was a lot of fun! In the DCL forum there is a cruise meets section where you can get to know fellow DISers who are cruising the same dates as you - the gift exchange is normally organized there. We got some great gifts - some homemade, some store bought - all fun! In fact, the door knob hanger on in the pirate door picture was one of the gifts we received. A fellow DISer made our fish extender - she sells them on ebay - I basically told her the theme and names I wanted and couldn't wait to see what she would create. She did a great job!

I bought self stick magnet strips (found them in the craft section of Walmart). Some people also use magnetic paper, but that is much pricier.

Have fun planning!
