Thank you DISers, I got a 30 and 40% code!!!

I have been lurking on the DISboards for quite some time, but finally registered. Thanks to reading all these posts, I got both a 30% and 40% pin code last week.

I ordered a vacation planning DVD in both my married name and maiden name. I stated that I have never been to Disney (I was once in 8th Grade).

The 40% code saved us about $1100 on our 6 nights at Poly. We were originally booked for the week of Columbus Day and did have to move our dates back a week, but is was definitely worth it for the savings.

Now I just have to decide on all my ADR's. Thank you DIS boards!!!!

Did you have to pay a deposit then or did they give you 14 days?Also was the code in the DVD or did you get something else with it on it or did you call and ask?

I got a pretty fancy flyer for both. They each were personalized with my last name. The postcard/flyer thanked me for requesting a DVD and that it was on its way. It gave a specific pin code for the percentage off.

I already had a reservation for the week of Columbus Day through Dreams Unlimited, so Rhonda just switched the dates and they applied the code. I had already paid the deposit, so I did not have to pay a new one.

I can really understand why people get upset about not getting a code because it is a substantial savings. I would recommend that everyone order a planning DVD on the Disney website.

hmmm, does anyone know or think it matters if you register for the vacation dvd online or call in and request one? do they keep track if you do both do you think? I got one a dvd about two years ago, will that matter?

I did get a code last august for my november trip which was the first I ever used and it was great! I don't remember how much discount it was but it saved us about 600 dollars for 10 days at CBR with park hoppers for myself and teen daughter. But it definitely had been a while since ordering the dvd. I may have received other codes in the past years but dumbo me didn't realize how valuable they could be and may have even tossed the flyers or w.e. Anyway, I'm hoping something comes out for Nov this year, otherwise I'll use my AAA, but that's not quite as good as my code last Nov.

I ordered a DVD in my husbands name and didn't get a code either. I've heard alot of people calling and asking if there is a code attached to their name and sure enough they got 40% off! I'm going to try that. They also have stated sometimes it takes more than one try.

For those ordering DVD's in search of a code, if you've been to WDW previously and have booked a trip with your current address, requesting a new DVD may or may not result in receiving a code. The ones that usually get the code are the people who are using a new address not already in the reservations system or have not been to WDW within the last few months/years IMO. There's no real way to discern how Disney hands out these codes, but we've seen DIS'ers get codes year after year while others who have been there religiously for years have never received a code. I always have my eyes glued to this website and always get a code one way or another; i've never paid rack rate in the past 10 years or so that we've been going. Still looking and waiting for a December code.....

We just bought a new house in the last six months. I requested a DVD, made a new email, said I hadn't been in a long time. I got a postcard....but.....
It was addressed to the former occupants and my name was not on it so they would not let me use it. I called almost every week, gave them every possible name in our party and every old address I have ever lived at. Still no code. I finally broke down and made a AAA room only saving me 33/night in a preferred at CBR.

I know that when I ordered the DVD last year, I marked that I had previously been to WDW (once). This year, I marked that I had never been to WDW and then the codes came in both my maiden and married name. It seemed that maybe they were targeting people that have never been because the postcard specifically stated that they wanted to help your first trip be magical. I think most people are right in that if you go alot-they already have you, which seems pretty unfair when it comes to loyalty. Believe me I didn't really expect to get the two codes, but was happy to see the flyers in the mail.

To answer your question, the postcards came about a week after I ordered the DVD online.

If I order a DVD in someone else's name (brother or dad or someone), and they DO get a code, do they have to go for the discount, or can we use their discount?

Also, is there a specific season you have to use these discounts? We are already booked for June, so if we get a discount code, could we apply it to that trip? TIA for your help!

Just got the same flyer! First code ever for me. However, I actually didn't get it, my gf got who signed up for the dvd from her parents address specifically because all trips have been in my name. A little underhanded but we got, I think, the same fancy flyer for 40 percent off!

NE Ohio and no code!! Waiting patiently but I am ready to give up until
