Edited my post for everyone to know that the transfer paper was indeed bad and I'm having more sent to me free of charge...so thank you for all the help!

I have started making my t-shirts for WDW, this is not my first time making t-shirt but it is the first time I bought the paper off of ebay...what have I done wrong, I have never seen anything like it, the paper won't put off from the shirt! I have already printed out 28 designs and I can't beleive this, I have a small mint tied up in this project, what did I do wrong or is it just bad paper, can anyone help? Please directed me, my goodness, I'm sick over this! TIA

Did you peel the backing off the transfer before you started to iron it on??

I almost forgot to do that today when I made a test shirt. (I also used some transfers from the Ebay person)

I know you said you did this before but I have two thoughts ---

1) did you wash the shirts first? The sizing could cause the transfer not to adhere to the shirt

2) Is your iron hot enough?

I know this is frustrating. My first time I had tons of trouble with colors running when I wash/dried them. I finally realized that I needed more heat in the dryer but not until about the 6th shirt

I honestly don't know what I did wrong, it's the same iron I have alway use for t-shirt making and I let it heat up 10 minutes before I ever used it...I seriously don't know it's been two years since I made shirts...goodness who knows..:sad1:

I have no idea as I've not done a shirt as of yet....but I would be SICK! I hope it turns out OK for you.

Where did you get your design on the pic above? I would love to make one for myself with the blonde hair. TIA

It's stick figures of my family, my dd is in a wheelchair and one of the designers on this board (Lemming_of_the_BDA ) was the signature, did it special for me back in the early summer and I saved it on my computer all this time.

It was one of my favorite designs because it really showed my whole family as they are, I just thank GOD that I still have the design on my computer.

I hope my iron was hot enough frankly I just don't know now.

I hope me being a plus size fat women didn't cause the problem...yes the t-shirt have been washed..:lmao:

I would say stick with HP or Avery paper and try again. I saw some bad stuff posted about paper from ebay.:confused3

Are your transfers light or dark transfers?

If they are dark, you are supposed to remove the paper backing and place image right side up on the shirt.

Sorry if this is not the case but it was a guess on my part. Please answer and I'll keep thinking.

No it was light transfer not dark....do you think my iron wasn't hot enough?

I can't imagine what...I printed on the side that was clear not the side that had the strips going across, so I think that was the right side?

Oh my goodness! No advice just tons of sympathy!!! 29 designs!! OUCH!! I hope you can find some way to salvage something from them!

Now, I am just drawing at straws because I have no idea what happened. Could they have been mis-marked.

Maybe you could take one of the other designs you have printed and slightly remove the backing from the transfer - see if the the transfer is white or clear in the white areas of the design, (example: the background).

I can tell from your picture that you did not print on the lined side of the paper, so you printed on the correct side. That should not be the issue.

As asked before, when you washed the shirts, were you sure not to use any dryer sheets or fabric softner?

Do you have an iron that turns itself off after a certain amount of time - and then it may not have been hot enough?

Keep us posted!

I was careful in washing and drying the shirts, no fabic softener of any kind, I truely don't think that's it...my iron does not cut itself off, it was on the highest setting...the only thing I can think of is this time I tryed ironing on my stove top...I placed two heavy pillowcases down on top of my stove ( I have a flat top stove ) taped them down so they wouldn't budge and tryed to iron on that...would that matter or do you think the paper was just bad? :confused3

I am no expert but I do not think ironing on your stove would make a difference. Did you seperate the transfer and see if the white was white or clear? Let me know...

I cannot get the transfer paper to peel apart AT ALL is that normal, I have tryed several different places and it will not peel apart. and whenever I do try to peel it, it just rips like paper.

It looks like it is dark transfer paper if the part to the left is torn off as it appears to be the polka dots are white, wouldn't they be clear if it was light paper? Maybe the package was marked wrong???

Well I don't know but because I can't peel any of the transfer paper apart, I have emailed the company for a response...I think the paper is bad, myself.

What is so bad is ,I have over 75.00 in ink on 50 transfer papers that I now can't use. :sad1:

I wish I could think of what it might be but I fear that it might be as you suspect...bad paper. Hoping the company will give you a full refund. Let them know you are part of a large group that buys transfers and if they don't make it right they are going to lose business. So sorry for your frustration and lost time. I'm sticking with Avery or trying the transfers Amy has....

Well, thank God, I sent the company an email and simple asked for 50 more sheets of transfer paper to be sent back out to me and for them to personally check it to make sure that it's ok...and I received a response today that they would send me out more, so basically all I have lost is the cost of ink and one t-shirt...well at least this has been a learning lesson for me, next time before I haul butt and print out 50 designs I'll check the paper first and also do a test t-shirt...geez..I should have known better.

Thanks for all your help. Terri
