Hi all. :wave2:

One of my definate stops when I am at Epcot is to go to Ice Station Cool.

I have read many references on how horrible the Beverly drink is.

With Disney and all their little tricks and what not, does anyone think that Beverly is a hoax drink? I mean no real drink exists, just made up for the station as a gag.

Just a thought.

I'm sure it's not a hoax drink.
We've had several European foreign exchange students over the years who have come with us to WDW. They were familiar with it from having had it in Europe. The "home" country for Beverly is Italy, where it is drunk as an aperitif. The dictionary defines that as food or drink to stimulate the appetite (usually served before a meal or as the first course). I can't think of anything that would stimulate my appetite more - I would eat almost anything to get that bitter tastte out of my mouth.:earseek:

Watched a tv show several weeks ago on Coke. They showed Beverly in a bottle for sale. So it isn't a hoax.

I am in the minority on the DIS but I like the taste of Beverly.

I go to Ice Station Cool specifically for Beverly. My Nana used to serve a similar drink at home so I got used to the taste.

It is fun to watch the reaction of people when they try it though. I suppose if you are expecting a sweet soda it's quite a shock.

Anyone who likes the taste of gin & tonics would probably enjoy Beverly.

I took my in-laws to Ice Station Cool during their first ever visit last summer hoping to surprise them with the bitter taste of Beverly. Only the surprise was on me, they both liked it!! Yuck, not me.

After reading so much about "Beverly" I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive about trying it last year when I visited Ice Station Cool.

I expected a drink that tasted like kerosene, but I was surprised to find that it was pleasantly tangy with a bite of bitter to it. A refreshing change from the many sweet drinks, some of which were downright cloying.

But then, my liking for "Beverly" might have a lot to do with the fact that my name is... Beverley!

I wonder if there are other Beverl(e)ys out there who like "Beverly"? Maybe we could form a society...

They serve Beverley at the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta too so it's definatly not a hoax by WDW.

There are several tasty soft drinks at ISC but Beverly isn't one of them:crazy2: It's fun to hang around and watch the reactions of those sampling Beverly for the first time;) Generously, the taste could be described as "medicinal".

haha Yeah, I had read about it, but tried it anyway...YUCK! My boyfriend had a bit of a nasty shock in March of '03, and my grandparents. I got my parents this January, and last weekend got two of my friends at World of Coke. I was surprised when one of them actually liked it, and couldn't figure out why I was watching him drink it with such interest. It tastes like a cough syrup I had to take as a kid....ugh.

I like to drink straight club soda or seltzer water if I find Coke to sweet at a resturant. How would Bev. compare to club soda?

We have read about Ice Station Cool for a few years now, but have never made it in there. So, when we were heading over to England on a very hot day this last trip we ran through there just to cool off. My DH just couldn't resist and he tried the infamous Beverly. YUCK-EE!! I had to try it and... I liked it! I drank the whole cup and he got more for me to proove that I wasn't kidding. It was very refreshing, not too sweet. I don't drink sodas usually because they are so sweet, they just make me more thirsty. I could actually drink Beverly if it were available somewhere!

Does anyone know where the watermelon drink is made? Now, that's one I enjoy!

My DD (6) tried the Beverly, and even knowing better, just spit it right out on the floor. Funny thing was, she had to go to the restroom so I took her and we met the rest of the family back at ISC, she wanted to try a few more drinks, and she chose the Beverly again, I reminded her that she did not like it the last time (10 min ago) she drank it anyway and the same reaction  I should have known better, but that was a lesson learned for both of us.

The Ice Station Cool is mine and my DS favorite Epcot attraction. We just came back from Epcot 2 weeks ago. and the best part of our trip was watching the reactions from people trying Beverly. One gentleman was even egging people on to try a taste. The faces people make can be quite ammusing. :earseek:

Actually it can grow on you. The first time that I tasted it I couldn't stand it. Now I can drink a cup of it. I guess I've been too EPCOT too much.

I liked the drink from Isreal...but I don't remember the name.

It tasted a bit like ginger ale...just a bit.

It tastes just like club soda . . . mixed with a generous portion of Nyquil!

Yeah, that is what I am afraid of. I wonder what it would look like if it actually did "Grow" on someone. :p
