Th infamous "Beverley"

PhotobearSam -

The drink from Isreal is called Kinley - I remember because Kinley is my daughter's name!:Pinkbounc

It doesn't taste like Club Soda, but you're getting warmer by thinking of products sold under the name Schweppes.

Beverly (no 'e' near the end) actually tastes very much like Tonic Water. If you can like straight tonic water, then you'll like Beverly.

To me it tastes like when you go to take a pill (like tylenol) and it sits in your mouth too long before you shallow it. EWWW!

It tastes like Campari. So if you like it, stop by a liquor store and buy a bottle of Campari.

Campari sells and is a staple behind bars - so someone must drink it.

And it isn't bad (I've actually ordered Campari and soda) if what you are expecting is Campari and not something like Coke or Ginger Ale.

Campari makes sense; the flavor in both Campari and Tonic Water is still quinine, which is the primary flavouring in Beverly, too. (I did hear that Beverly also has some grapefruit flavouring in it, but can't confirm that.) Quinine, of course, is the chinchona bark extract used to treat malaria. It is in some other medications, too, which is why a lot of people associate the flavour with pills.

I like bitters in mixed drinks to cut the sweetness of some liqueurs, but I don't care for them straight up.

The Beverly is actually my favorite one. Everyone should try it at least once. For me, it tastes like
seltzer water with the flavoring of cloves. If it were available where I live, I'm sure I would buy it on a regular basis.

My DS (12) would stand by the Beverly and say to people walking by "try some Beverly, it's the best!". They would try it and make awful faces. My DS's wanted so badly to buy some and take it home to give their friends, but you cannot buy it at Disney. I thought it was terrible.

I thought Beverly tasted a bit pepperminty to me... I didn't enjoy it very much.. But just to be out of the heat and into the lovely cold of Ice Station Cool, I would have drank a liter of it if that is what it took to get in.. lol..

i liked it too... reminded me of campari (an alcoholic italian apertif) which i enjoy...

Does anyone know where the watermelon drink is made? Now, that's one I enjoy!
I may be wrong but I think the watermelon drink is the Chinese one. At least that's what I seem to remember.

Haha, if only I had known about this stuff before we left! We took big gulps of it and BLECH! My dd almost threw up, but even she was able to leave laughing about how bad it was! Club soda? Hmmmm, maybe REALLY old, fermented club soda perhaps ....GAG!

"Bitters" such as used in Beverly are not only for stimulation of appetite as someone already mentioned, but also to aid in digestion. It is pretty common in several European countries.

I was a bit afraid to try Beverly the first time after all I'd heard about it but I actually didn't mind it. I prefer citrus flavors like lemon and lime so this didn't bother me.

I actually find super sweet desserts too much for me now - although I could have handled them as a child. The zebra domes everyone raved about at Boma's were too sweet for my taste and once I went out of my way on a vacation in Texas to find a Krispy Kreme donut shop and it was soooooo sickenly sweet it made my teeth hurt. I prefer key lime pie, etc. and bittersweet chocolate desserts rather than milk chocolate.

So, I think Beverly is a matter of what your preferences are.
