Hey there!

My husband and I have been to Disney before but this is our first trip with children, DD(3) and DS(2). We are taking 2 days in MK. I found the 2 day tour for MK off of TGM website. It seems to be very helpful since I did not know which lines filled up the fastest BUT I really want us to take in those first few moments in Disney and walk down main street without racing off to Dumbo or the Indy speedway. If we do this should I just ignore the guide for Day 1 and do what we want leisurely? Or do we have time to meander a bit before we head off the Fantasyland to beat the crowds?

Thanks for the help!

I am so Type A that TGM might actually be BAD for me :)- I really want our children to enjoy this trip without me rushing us from one ride to the other.

As a TGM member I think this question is best for the TGM boards...with that said. On our first trip. We savored the moment when we returned from our break rested and relaxed. That is my two cents! :) :lovestruc
Edited to add, We didn't rush, and we didn't stand in crazy lines...that is the beauty of TGM...go to the TGM boards...there are plenty of moms just like you who can talk you through this! :)

We went for our children's 1st trip when they were 2 1/2 in October and did TGM Day 1 and Day 2. We modified a little and we didn't rush down Main St either day. I agree with you and wanted to take it in.

The only thing is the Dumbo line FILLS FAST! We did end up waiting a bit, but not as much as later in the day. We only waited about 12 minutes or so and we did that ride 1st.

You really should be asking this on TGM.

Why not make a early morning ADR so you can see Main Street USA before the crowds? Then at RD do the Dumbo Dash.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I think we will take the advice and take it all in and then get to Fantasyland and see where we stand with lines.

And I did post this on TGM as well but actually got more reponses here. Thank you for the suggestion though!

If you go at rope drop anyway, it'll be hard to really take your time and take it all in with a zillion people pushing from behind to get where they want to go. You certainly don't need to run to Dumbo, but it's totally worth it to get back there and knock out Fantasyland the TGM way. My parents came with us on our first family trip when our kids were 2 and 4. They teased me endlessly about my TGM plans. When they saw them in action they were amazed and shut up. We were there at a fairly busy time (8s on the crowd scale) and never waited in a long ride line. We knocked out tons of rides in the first hour or two after park opening and then had plenty of time to enjoy the characters and the atmosphere. Our last few trips have been in January and early February with low crowds but I still use the TGM plan to knock out rides. Now the goal is to go on SM, BTMRR and EE as many times as humanly possible with the shortest waits. Sigh. I miss the Dumbo Dash!
