TGIF: The College Years

I did a 5 week study abroad program at Oxford this past summer, and it was the most amazing experience of my life. I'm dying to go back or do another program, but I can't afford it.:sad1: What kind of program is the one you're applying for?

Wow, Oxford, that sounds awesome! I can't wait to visit England... :)
The program I'm going to is a semester-long program in Florence through Syracuse University. I'm going to be taking Italian, History (Italian Rennaissance, woot!), and Theatre classes. And it's also a home-stay program, so I am basically thrown into the Italian culture. Still a bit scared about that, but I seriously can not WAIT!

I am studying abroad from May 14 through June 28 in Italy and Switzerland! I am so so nervous but so excited! I get a prospective teaching scholarship that will be paying for this WHOLE trip (except for living expenses)!

Please help me not be so nervous! haha, im such a homebody!

You have to tell us all about it! We'll help you through it. I just started at a new school away from home so I know how it feels to be homesick!

I have studied abroad in France. You'll love going away for a while! Just don't let the people there get you down. Take in as much as you can even though you'll probably be super tired from traveling/being homesick

Wow! Italy & Switzerland would be fantastic!

I'd LOVE to study abroad, but I'd get too homesick I think.

I went to Paris when I was 15 on a school trip for 9 days and it was THE MOST AMAZING BEAUTIFUL ROMANTIC ENLIGHTENING expirience of m LIFE.
I'm DYING to go back.
I wish I had the guts (and the $$$) to study abroad.

But then again, one of my majors is French, so you never know where that may take me!! -fingers crossed-

OH! No Classes for me today!! It snowed quite a bit and my mom didn't want me driving to school by myself...so she toldme to stay home! hehehe :thumbsup2
But I DO have to work @ 3....so hopefully the snow calms down a bit.

Thanks for all of the encouragement guys..I am sure this will come up again before I leave in May...

This is kind of random but..
This week the staff and faculty of my college are putting on a production of "Alice in Wonderland." Basically, it is a major tradition- it happens only once ever four years. It started during a major flu epidemic during the Depression when students were not allowed off campus. The faculty put on this production to keep them from being so bored and they've been doing it every four years since. The faculty who are in the show will not tell you who they are, but when you see it you can figure it out (so I've heard)... So I am going tonight and I am SUPER excited.. this is a once in a college generation tradition!

Kind of off topic, but I'm so excited and I wanted to share!

The one thing I hate is walking to class in an ice storm. grrrr. I almost fell like five times...

Anywho, YAY for it being Friday. I still have one more class (at 2:10), but it's my Directing class, so it's fun.

What's everyone's weekend plans?

Happy Friday everyone!

Laura, I know what you mean about ice. I hate having to walk to class when there's snow and ice on the ground... I've never fallen, but I'm fully expecting it to happen sometime before I graduate! :rotfl:

I actually have a super busy weekend... one of the organizations I'm in is responsible for showing the Honors program to prospective students, and the university's big scholarship competition is this weekend, so I'm volunteering with that this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon. My friend's 21's birthday party is tonight, and our neighbors are having a party tomorrow night. And Sunday one of my friends is having people over to watch the Superbowl (although I don't care about the game at all, and I think my roommate and I will be trying to get people to watch the puppy bowl on Animal Planet instead:rolleyes: ). Luckily I don't have much homework or anything this weekend, so I'm glad I get to have fun!

Today I have a meeting at noon with my advisor and then class at 1-1:52. Then my B.F. and I are heading home, which is an hour and a half away. Tonight my sister is cheering at her high school boys basketball game so I'll be at that. I don't have any plans yet for tomorrow. Sunday is the annual Super Bowl Party at my B.F.'s uncle's house, so that means yummy food! :)

Is it pouring ridiculously anywhere else?! I only had one class today for an hour and being out there in the dowpour made it seem completely not worth it. TGIF! I'm taking my cousin to see Hannah Montana in 3D later today and then Sunday all my cousins and family are going out to eat for my grandma's 70th b-day before we come back to my house for our annual Super Bowl party! GO GIANTS!!!!!

Who's everyone rooting for?

the rain totally sucks haha... its not just rain either.. its a mix of hail, rain, and ice >_< .. i think i slipped like 5 times today lol.. nasty nasty weather... but i took my calc test today and im feeling pretty good about it.... i was worrying about it all week... now i get to worry about my bio2 test on tuesday.. then my chem1 test on friday >_< haha.. i cant wait until next friday.. thats when i get to relax :)

My weekend will consist of a lot of reading. I have to have "The Jungle" done by next friday and I am only about 30 pages into it. I will definitley be watching the superbowl though and rubbing it in my dad's face that the Patriots are gonna win (My fav team).

My campus was CLOSED today!! :scared1:
Due to a massive snow storm!!!

I unfortunatley have to brave the storm to go to work though later...
(because God forbid a MOVIE THEATRE be closed!! )

It was pouring like crazy here this morning! It was so loud that it woke Jake & I up!

I'm pulling for the Giants this year. I DO NOT want to see the Patriots win. No thanks! :rotfl:

As is tradition, I've gotta say TGIF! :cool1:

It is POURING here today! I hate going to classes in the rain! Luckily I only had 2 today. I drove home for the weekend (in the torrential rain, might I add ) and I'm at work for the rest of the afternoon. Tomorrow we're going to visit my grandfather and then I have a babysitting job tomrorow night. Sunday I'm heading back to school for hw and the super bowl, of course!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :goodvibes

I have biology quiz, lab, library assignment, and essay questions to do that are due Monday. I have to start on my second and third speech paper. I also plan to catch a few zzzz's in there somewhere.

Had to share some news I just got. I applied back before Thanksgiving for MTSU as a transfer student and have been waiting to hear from them. Below is the basic wording of the letter I received.

I just received a letter today from MTSU saying they are pleased to inform me of my tentative acceptance to MTSU as a transfer student. My acceptance is pending on the receipt of a college transcript, through the end of the semester, from the institution you are currently attending.
