TFW Meet 2008 The Mission: Wiener Salad & Margaritas - Trip Report Links on Page 1

Ok so I just watched The Weather Channel update on the hurricane and basically got this: "It could do this blahblahblah or it could do that blahblahblah". Basically they have no clue what's going to happen in the 24 hours, they're basing everything on guesstimates at best. :confused:

I'd hate to be in that kind of limbo, V. :sad2: I'm sending you lot of good mojo and positive thoughts Fay just dwindles out. :hug:

Mel just told me on the Focker thread that she did not get the changes I made and sent to you all. My itinerary changed as well as my contact number. I resent it to her in a format that she can open. I can't send it to all as I do not have the original email that I used for everyones email addy. If anyone need to call me Mel has the number. If anyone wants a new copy of the itinerary let me know and I will email it to you.

Hey Janet

This is the best it's looked, well at least for the Fockers. Sorry Panhandle and west of there.

The interesting bit to me (well, it's all interesting, but YKWIM) is that the red and green tracks more or less screw me over completely if I am heading to IL instead. :rolleyes: I know by then it will be rain, but...

Well I am all packed, at least as packed as I can get for now. There are the few last minute items I will throw in tomorrow night but I have all my clothes packed which is always the big hurdle for me, trying to figure out what I will want to wear. :rolleyes:

WOOHOOTY!

So my friend L called today and she was going to buy some water and things for their house (they live in Tampa) and is going to pick me up my water today so they aren't out because of people preparing for a storm! So yay L! I also found out her daughter, H, knows I'm coming but doesn't know where we are going once they come get me! ;) I can hear the 9 year old screeches when she sees a Disney sign!

So I'll see you all there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great flight!!! :hug:

i'm leaving tomorrow for columbus for 4 days. in case i dont' get back online, just wanted to say bye to everyone and wish everyone a safe journey!!!

have a blast!! don't forget to remember those details of your trip, just sayin. :rolleyes1

Have fun, Rachel! I'll forward your flat if something happens to my trip. :goodvibes

I just want to tell you guys to have a great time/ DIS meet. I hope Hurricane Faye don't distrupt to many plans. Again, have a great time everyone.

I am actually going to be in Florida, just not at WDW. Ironic huh!

Oh, now that's too bad! I would have liked to have seen you! Congrats to your DD, though!

Geez Louise - I can't get a break! Our local channels are showing a Cat. 1 hurricane barreling straight into Tampa Bay late Tues. :headache: I won't need to evacuate, but it won't be fun. I'm off to suck cosmos till i can sleep. be back tomorrow....

Oh, V. I hope you sleep OK. :hug: :hug: :hug:

~~~~~~~~~~~
So, I at least did some laundry. Not the least packed, though, and I really need to find ponchos. :rolleyes1 I don't want to carry umbrellas. I have my Flat Fockers, but they aren't "stuck" or laminated. Hmmm. I don't think I'm terribly prepared. I did buy my Bagallini supplies the other day, though, and they are packed.
Ah.. Like "Sheriff" .. Like "Deputy"....I am ALWAYS Packing the night before.. no matter the intentions.. and a lot of the times.. I am still packing at 11:00 p.m.
O.K. ALL you "Fockerfest" Ladies... who is up for a "Hair Hunt" for me? :confused3 Anybody ?? :guilty:
There is a "Princess" Faux Hair Piece "Thingie"... that Sara has.. and if someone can get me a couple more and send them to me when they get back home... I'll MORE than cover the expenses.
Kat I can do that for you. I know exactly where to find those. Maddie's doing BBB on Wednesday, so I can get them there.
Oops, noticed Janet's already offered. Just let me know if I can help. ;)
Just mentioning here too....
Didn't get the copy from Margie..Or rather got it, but it's in a format I can't read. I need XLS.
Have an email in to her and will email when I get the right one!
MEL:banana:
Sorry, I saved the file and deleted the message, so I can't just forward it. Let me see what I can do, though.
Ok Mel I sent you the one with my changes in 3 different formats. One will work for you even if it is the word document. This was not a good time for me to change my phone number but had to do it now as we are starting a new contract and it made it free to switch.
Holy CRAP, Janet! What are you trying to do to me??? :eek:
Ok, Ok, Ok...everyone can stop panicking now...I AM Packed. I finished at 11:00pm:thumbsup2
Tomorrow is take the dog to the boarder, go to the bank, and get a pedi...other than that we will just be keeping an eye on Faye...
Congrats on pacing Janet! One thing down, just a few more to go before you are off to Neverland!
I have faith that this storm heading in way of the Focker Meet, is going to go put...put! Maybe you'll all get a good rain in and won't see much rain for the rest of the trip. ? Lets hope!
Good news! Just switched our flights down to Orlando to earlier in the day. We will now be landing around noon on Tuesday vs 7pm which was our original flight. This should give us plenty of time to get settled before Fay rolls in given the recently updated NHC progression chart.
Yikes! :scared1: I just saw the news about the tropical storm. :eek: Everyone stay safe! :grouphug: I hope it will be long gone in time for FockerFest! :wizard:
Look at it this way, it makes for a more interesting TR! :thumbsup2
Good luck everyone, and have a great time! :dance3: I'll be sitting here, worrying about you guys until you all check in next week! :surfweb:
That's great, Lessa. I wish we could head down a day early, but it's just not happening. And what is with the new chart??? What happened to the left?:confused3
Janet, you're so excited you wrote DAYS, not HOURS. It's HOURS now :yay: :woohoo: :woohoo: :yay:
BTW~ Glad you finally packed ;)
I would not normally be this watchful of "Tropical Storms and Hurricanes" but I have "Peeps" living there and currently there.
Has Jo responded to anybody's calls yet ??
News this morning is "Fay" actually Coming in at Tampa :scared: and she is a little stonger.. but with the heating of the day expect more.
My Hat is off to you Floridians... You are a strong bunch.. first strong breeze and I would be out of there.. and NOT LOOK BACK.
Which may sound good, as I thought too, until I heard that being in the right quadrant is the most dangerous because of tornadoes. :sad2: Oy vey!
I know - I'm definitely not liking the idea of the brunt of it hitting central FL, either. :worried:
:rotfl: Yep, it's always something of a crap-shoot. I approach hurricanes this way: if there's a likelihood of it being a Cat. 4 or higher, and there's a decent chance it'll come my way, I'm gone - as far as I can drive north. Otherwise, I have what we need to get through. I'll be juicing up the batteries in Leo's video player, game and my laptop to keep him entertained if we're without power. :scared:
And what is with the new chart??? What happened to the left?:confused3
Yeah! :mad:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nothing really new to report from here - we're in full hurricane prep mode, backing up files, etc. at work. School's in session today, and we'll learn about tomorrow later, as well as if any evacuations will be ordered. We evacuate in 5 stages:
A = coast and mobile homes
B = a bit further inland
C = a bit more
D = the last to go

I'm in C, which generally corresponds to a Cat. 3 storm, so I'm not anticipating leaving. The evac. zones are based on flooding due to storm surge, not wind speeds, and I'm on the second floor. If only I could bring my car up there, too!

As for driving to WDW, I believe it'll be a last-minute decision, based on what the weather and roads look like Wed. But I'm 99% sure I'll get there eventually! :)

Thank you all for your concern; we should be just fine here, but I appreciate your thinking of us so much! :grouphug:

Here's our county chart of Fay's projected path for your viewing pleasure...

storm-track.gif

Purple is > 39 MPH
Yellow is > 58 MPH
Red is > 74 MPH

9am update:

Small changes in current track will make large changes in where the storm comes ashore. Currently landfall is expected between Bonita Springs and Cedar Key; it will probably have some impact on Pinellas. Storm still off the coast of Cuba and the planes cannot fly over Cuba, once it is over open waters the planes will fly through and we’ll have a better idea at the 11:00 am briefing from NOAA.

Not expecting storm effects until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Some bands earlier in the day Tuesday, but eye will not be here until 10:00 pm Tuesday evening. Expect 70-80 mph winds and 4-5’ storm surge, 8-10” rain. TS winds arrive Tuesday around 1300, hurricane force winds by Tuesday at 2200.

EM currently recommending a mandatory level A evacuation at 6:00 am on Tuesday with selected shelters opening. This is not firm and could change with the 11:00 am update
