Texas

My brother already postponed his late October wedding. I would suggest they talk to the venue again about rebooking. The venue certainly doesn't want to be labeled as a COVID spreader on Yelp.
Because its in and outdoor they told them to do the whole thing outside on the patio... im guessing its a money grab.

I am so fustrated with government..
Our son is getting married end of August.
They have deemed weddings a religious ceremony so 50 %capacity and everyone wear a mask. I really want the wedding to be postponed but they cant because the wedding venue said the law says it can take place so they can not change the date without loosing the $6000 deposit. They really cant afford to change it.. even though a lot of people wont/cant show up.

Not in Texas, but feel for you. My DS was to be married in April, March 16 the venue canceled, which obviously at that point, everything was starting to shutter. The caterer would only reschedule, no money back, as they thought perhaps to cancel the whole thing and just get married. They thought that perhaps have some sort of party next year. Then they decided to just reschedule the whole thing. It is now in November and who knows what will happen. We are in NJ where things are doing fairly well and the virus is on track to be contained. Our governor has been slow and steady on re-opening, putting breaks on indoor dining at the beginning of the month. So, we are hopeful that they can have it move forward in November. Most probably restrictions on number of guests and mask wearing but that is okay. The caterer does not refund under any circumstances, so it would mean getting a lawyer involved if it is once again postponed.

My future daughter in laws brother is getting married 3 weeks prior to our sons wedding and that bride to be is stressing a bit. Just the uncertainty of what may or may not happen. It has taken her a bit to come to terms that her wedding may be very different than what she has envisioned.

All ready, my future daughter in law is hearing that out of state relatives will most probably be cowing, including her grandmother. My dad lives in Florida so who knows if he will be able to travel as he’s high risk being 84.

Has anyone seen the number of new cases today? I hope that I'm seeing a typo.

Our Walmart has been one entrance for months now. HEB has one entrance and a different exit. Initially it was unidirectional flow, with staff counting how many people were in the store. That lasted a couple weeks at most. Now you can only go out one door but you can go in the out as well. I have no idea what that is helping.

And it used to be (at least at our HEB) that you COULD go in the exit way if you were just going to the pharmacy for a prescription. But in that case, you'd be escorted to the pharmacy by an employee, so that you didn't make a break for it to go shopping.

No problem. Actually McAllen is only about 15 minutes from Mexico. We've had friends who lived in McAllen and worked in Mexico.

I posted recently how our office just in the last 7-10 days started getting cancelations by patients because a family member or coworker tested positive. We're up to several calls a day regarding this. In the last 72 hours we've had 2 employees sent home for quarantine after family members tested positive.

While we were being careful up to a month ago, to make sure that in case someone came in positive, we wouldn't catch it, now I'm sure it's a given someone every day will have it (unknowingly I hope) and be in the clinic.

I'm going to have signs made that nicely say keep your darn mask on, over your nose too, for your entire visit. I'm soooo tired of walking into an exam room to see the mask in their lap or just over their mouth. Like they weren't just breathing how much virus possibly into my small, contained room?? Argh.

McAllen is basically on the US/Mexico border.
Yes, but this video is over a month old and appears to be from Culiacan, Mexico which is nowhere near Texas border. This looks to be the FB post of the reporter who posted it originally. Again, I am sure there are some terrible conditions in Texas currently (I saw another thread on Twitter tonight from a nurse purportedly reporting about awful conditions in McAllen) but this specific video is not from Texas or the Mexico/Texas border and I think it is important to not spread incorrect info.

Aggie, one suggestion would be to make the signs clear on why they need to stay fully masked in exam rooms. I’ve heard so many people that think the mask is only for when you are face to face with someone and they think it’s fine to catch a breath while alone in a room. Even very pro-mask people think they are fine pulling it down, a sign explaining the room build up might really help. Although you’ll still have the ones that don’t care...

Yes, we're in the process of making signs now. And telling them specifically to keep their masks on. It helps some, but definitely not 100%.
