I have read about several people wearing the Teva sandals to Disney. I have a bad back and usually buy new shoes and sole inserts right before heading to Disney. Would Teva's work as well or better than sneakers for someone with a bad back?

Thanks
Shelly

in my opinion, the Tevas I have don't have any support. They aren't necessarily flat, but aren't cusioned at all. I would say, if you generally need more support than most, you would probably be better off in sneakers w/support.

I love my teva's but I won't wear them in the parks.

I'm sure if you don't have any back or foot or knee problems....they would be fine.

But with any health concerns, I'd say go with a good supportive shoe.

Shelley,
The higher end Teva's offer more support than the lower end ones. I have an older pair (no cushion) that I wouldn't think of wearing to Disney. The newer pair that I wear to Disney have more cushion than my New Balance sneakers and give me quite a bit of support but may not be enough for what you need. I usually try on a number of different pairs of any type of shoe before I buy them. I personally love my Tevas and like having them at Disney. Everybody is different though.

It really depends on the style of Teva you have.

I, too , have an old pair - the "basic" style - and I get blisters from them if I walk too much - and they are really broken in!!

I just got a pair of thong sandals from REI (click on teh outlet section) - they are much more comfortable than the old ones.

I like the Tevas because you can get them wet. Otherwise, a good pair of New Balance for me - or maybe Birkenstocks - I believe in comfortable shoes :teeth:

I have 3 different types of Tevas and I do really like them. I wore one to DW a couple of years ago and didn't do too well with them there.

I have foot problems and with the recommendation of my podiatrist I wear either Sacony or Brooks. I also wear Thorlo socks which seems to make more difference that the shoes themselves.

Podiatrist also puts pads in the bottom of my shoes to keep pressure off certain points and to help my hammertoes.

Thanks for the responses. I had a feeling the Teva's wouldn't be much better for me, but I tend to get to where I'll try anything!
