Okay, I have to admit that I have not yet owned any Teva Sandles!

I really need some good shoes for the Parks. Ones that can get wet... I tried on some Chaco's, and that arch just kills me. So, on to Teva's.

I am looking online at the Hurricane-II and the Pretty Rugged nylon. (Polyester would dry faster!!)

Boy, that looks like a thin rubber sole on the Pretty Rugged's??? I think the sole looks thicker, with a good bit more under the heel, on the Hurricane II's??? (I prefer some elevation to the heel, not the earth-shoe approach)

Has anyone here worn both styles?

Help! LOL!!!

Well, I only have one side of the opinion! Through the recommendation of many on the Dis boards, I ordered Teva Pretty Rugged Sandals through www.teamestrogen.com (I shopped Bizrate.com and Googled to find the best price). I only paid about $45 or so, I think and they had 9's and 10's left in the color I chose. I've been wearing them often to "break" them in by our May trip and I really, really like them. I don't notice that they're sandals and I've walked everywhere in them. I think the soles are pretty thick, and it feels like you have a lot of cushiony support. They recommend to get a 1/2 size smaller if you are in between sizes-apparently they run a little big. I love the straps on the back of the ankle with the velcro also. They also have antimicrobial protection for those, like myself (or maybe only me!), who may not have the best smelling feet at the end of a long day in sandals .

My husband is even contemplating a pair now!
Hopefully you'll get some good feedback on the Hurricane II's also!

I have two pair of pretty rugged, one nylon and one leather. I have had my nylon ones for 4 years, and I love them both. Mine have a faux suede insoles. That seems more comfortable than the textured insole (those hurt my feet)

I'm no an expert, but I have Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals, Teva Olowahu flip flops, and Teva Mush flip flops. I love all three pair. I have tried on the Teva hurricanes and they are the only pair that just didn't fit right. I didn't like the sole bed and the velcro was too long on top and scratched my foot. I've heard good reports on the Pretty Rugged Nylon, but am afraid I have not tried them. If they are any where near as comfortable as the Pretty Rugged Leather they would be great. I had planned to either wear a pair of my flip flops or else stuff a pair in my backpack in case of rain. I also recently bought two pairs of Crocs (Beach style and a pair of the sandals). I've been alternating between the five pair to walk my dog everyday and can't seem to decide for sure which pairs to carry to WDW on my May trip.

By the way I don't normally wear flip flops, because I can't stand the thingy between my toes, but both the Olowahu and the Mush have a very soft comfortable toe thingy and have not bother my toes at all (and I have worn them all day at times).

Zappos.com has free shipping and also a great free return policy. Why don't you order several pairs, wear them aroud the house for a few days, then you can return the ones you don't like for free?

I have had 3 pair of Pretty Rugged Leather sandles and they are the BEST. I know what you mean about the heal and I have not had any problems with that at all. I got my most recent pair in January and they do run big. My past sandles have been 8 1/2's and they fit perfectly, although I wear a 9 otherwise. They don't make the 1/2 sizes anymore and I didn't think and 8 would fit but the 9's are huge. I don't like the suede footbed as much as the cork they had in the older models, but they are still comfortable. I am going to try the nylon ones for Diseny as soon as I get to a store that carries them so I can try them on.

Another Teva Pretty Rugged fan. I own both Leather and Nylon and love them both. They are one of Teva's best walking sandals. They have shock absorption and great cushioning. They also have something to decrease odor.

The Hurricane's are a cheaper Teva sandal and have less cushioning and I don't think they have shock absorption but I could be wrong.

I did my research before I purchased my first pair. I was looking for the best Teva walking sandal that was also waterproof. I came up with Teva Pretty Rugged and Teva Circuit (and Kenetic but I didn't like the look of them; they're a great walking sandal). I asked an expert at a shoe store and ended up going with Pretty Rugged.

One thing I wanted to say is after I bought my first pair, I wore them for a few days and thought I wouldn't like them for Disney and almost gave up on them but a month before my trip I tried them again. They just needed to be broken in. At first I thought the straps were tight and rubbing against me but that went away. So please break them in. I'm SO glad I gave them a second chance. They are now my favorite and a life saver.

They do run large.

a word about Zappo's: I odered a pair of Teva's from them about a month ago...I odered with free shipping. I had them less than 24 hours later!!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!! I can't vouch for the comfort of the Tevs's....too cold to wear sandals here yet But I have to give a thumbs up for Zappo's

So did I!!! I got them for the same price and just picked them up last week! I now have both leather and nylon!

That's a great price as they are normally $75.

I have pair of a no-name brand that I do love, the straps were very comfortable. But after a long day at an amusement park, the textured footbed really hurt my feet. Thank goodness I brought my New Balance to change into after the water rides.

I was thinking of buying the Tevas I saw at DSW that had the faux suede. Are they waterproof too???

Not sure what sandal you are talking about. I have Teva Pretty Rugged leather and you can treat the leather to make it waterproof. I think they even advertise the leather as waterproof but the sole isn't.

I did get caught in a down pour of rain at MGM and they got soaking wet and they held up find. I didn't get a blister and they didn't get damaged but they took a couple of hours to dry. So that is the only down side but you can certainly use them in the rain.

I now have the nylon ones for if I go in a rainy season or on water rides. But either sandal will be fine.

I found some HurricaneII's at Rack Room Shoes to try on... and, they were not too bad. But, they didn't work for me either!!! I thought they needed a bit more cushioning in the sole. But, the big thing was that where the back heel-strap is attached into the sole, it was narrower than my heel. So, instead of it being on either side of my heel, it was like I was almost stepping on it. I could especially feel it under the inside of my heel.

Seems like most everyone likes their PrettyRuggeds! I think I may order a pair from Zappo's and see if they will work. I hope so!!!

Boy, I must either have wierd feet, or be VERY picky, or both!!! LOL!!!

I LOVE my TEVA's I really like the basic pterodactyl (SP??) but recently I got a pair of Land's End Extreme sport Sandals... boy are they comforable.. and the leather is waterproof...

I recently purchased the Lands End sandals and I like them better than teva's. They do tend to run wide, especially in the toes though. I still like my nike straprunners (version 4) the best and even though they don't make them in that model anymore I picked up a brand new pair on ebay not too long ago

I wear my Terra Fi's pretty much exclusively. They are nylon and amphibious. I wear them everywhere.

About time for new ones... These have a slight odor.

Okay, I have another question... On another thread (Crocs) there was mention of how Tevas feel once they are wet. Not sure if that means 'squishy' or 'slippery' or what.

Any thoughts on this???

Okay, I have a brand new pair of Teva Stratum sandles on my feet!!!

I reallly like them!
To compare for you CED...

Way more to the sole than Hurricanes. I was not impressed with the Hurricane either.

Seem to be very comfortable! (except for the scratchy tags where the ankle strap goes across the top of your foot... gotta take that out! LOL!!!)
Not a super soft 'cushy' feel, but plenty of support, and rubbery-resistance, and 'give', under the foot. Well shaped foot-bed! You can see that it has more actual thickness to the sole than the Hurricane or the Terra-Fi.

I also ordered the Terra-Fi, but in a large kids size. (Thought that would actually be a better fit for my foot, considering I had heard of the arch in the womens model) I will be returning this one, and keeping the Stratum.

So, to compare it... This Terra-Fi does not have as major of a nice foot-bed as the Stratum. It is like the Stratum is really made for walking... Where the Terra-Fi is made for general comfort. The Terra-Fi has a softer 'cushier' foot-bed... But leaves you without all of that wonderful support that might be needed for hours at the Parks?

Over-all, from the Teva's that I have tried... The Stratum gets my vote. I think I will be wearing these on our trip!

I want to get a pare of the pretty rugged nylon, but am concerned about the textured insoles. Where did you find the ones with the faux suede insoles?
