Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas and won a part on the movie Dazed and Confused after meeting the casting director in a bar. From there Mcconaughey moved to Los Angeles and quickly won a role on the movie Boys on the Side. However, it wasn't until he played the lead in the Grisham adaptation A Time to Kill that Mcconaughey got his big break. Since then he has appeared in such high-profile movies as Contact, Amistad, The Newton Boys, and Edtv and has proven himself a very bankable star.
