When I took French last year, we had to pick a new first name and last name. I chose Guillaume because it meant William, and Dizon, because it was simple.

We never picked names.
Mostly due to the fact that I'd probably never be called that outside of class.
I think Hilaire could be used, but meh, I like how the y in my name is emphasized in French.

We weren't called that out of class, just in French. I liked my name because it didn't have any accent marks.

Ah okay.
My teacher spent too much time last year reteaching us stuff from like grade 4.
It was annoying.
And she did silly things like make us put on fashion shows....
Like, I did not feel like I was in grade 9 French.

I thought that French was so hard! And I had like grade 1 French!

It basically was.
French Immersion is one big joke in HS.
It's like impossible right now to graduate with French because if you're taking science classes, they're not offered in French.
That's not gonna be a problem for me though.

Never been to this thread.
Helllooooooo out there :D

This seems like the new random thread? xD

Is French Immersion where you speak French the entire time?

French Immersion is when all of your classes are in French (minus English).
From grades 1-8 I had all of my classes in French. Math, Science, etc.
In grade 9 same thing, except math was in English which made it a bit difficult to get all the terms down, because I know them French.

Next year, same thing, all French.

:earseek: That would be impossible for me.

You're also expected to speak French all the time in the French classes.

Immersion is useful for learning French, because you're learning a language and something at the same time... at a young age. It's kind of like learning your native tongue? Kind of? Like everyone around you is speaking this odd language and you need to adapt and communicate.

I still think that I'd fail miserably. I like my hard to understand Missouri accent.

Lol, I have 92 posts in this thread.

They're trying to get rid of Early French Immersion right now because they think it's bringing test results down.
It's NOT. The FI kids are bright, and get much better results than the Core French (who only have French once a day). I don't know why, but these kids that I know in the CF program just aren't the brightest bulbs. It just seems to be the case here.

They think that because we never learned basic grammar in the younger grades is because of an interference by FI. I disagree, we just have a sucky english program.
And besides, the kids who were in Core French write 10x worse than I do.

Ugh.
I'm so hungrrry.
But what can I get to eat without waking my parents up?
